In regards to McGonigle and his potential future prospect ranking I came across this in the latest Law chat, earlier in the thread somebody posed a question about who is most likely to be number 1 come next season and named Chandler, Made, Pena, Griffin or other. Keith said other. Then later in the chat somebody asked this. zoor: Kevin McGonigle on #1 prospect watch ? Keith Law: Yes. Keith Law: That’s a guy more likely to be #1 in January than any of the other three in the question above where I said “Other.”

Just heard on the radio that Lanier is older than 5 current Pistons and is somehow only a few months younger than Cade and Stewart.
-
Givony actually correctly mocked Lanier to us in his last mock the other day.

From what I could gather on twitter it sounds like it's not an actual prison sentence but more of 2 yr probation with it turning into prison if he violates the terms. Either way it sounds like he got off incredibly easy legally wise for what he did but financially wise it wasn't so easy. His wrong doing ended up costing him 100s of millions of dollars from the MLB cause he most certainly isn't ever going to play here again.

We're almost at that point where playing .500 the rest of the way will win the division. As it stands we would win 91 games if that were to happen, it would probably take one of the other teams playing the rest of the way like we did to finish last year for that not to be good enough.

Nice to see the offense bounce back, there was a few week stretch not too long ago where we only scored 7 or more a couple times total so it's a pleasant sight to see us back to doing it regularly again.
-
Yeah didn't dive any deeper but I figured he must have been pitching somewhere else, still wild to me how a player can go 4 years between MLB appearances not once but twice.
-
I'm only following the game on gamecast so I'm sure they talked about it on the radio or TV but looking up Enns on the internet and his story looks fascinating. According to his ESPN profile he played in a couple games in 2017, then didn't play in the majors again till 2021 where he pitched in 9 games and then went another 4 years until returning today. Just completely wild and I'd imagine unlike any other player ever. Makes you wonder where does Harris find guys like this?

Barring something major I suspect 8 will probably be about the lowest McGonigle finds himself on any updated prospect list made in the coming weeks. From what I have gathered from the national folks on x and YT he is essentially a consensus top 5 overall prospect at this point among players that haven't debuted yet so in the coming weeks once guys like Anthony and others lose their prospect status McGonigle will likely find himself in the top 5 when places update their midseason rankings.

Seeing the name Dietrich makes me think of those Dittrich Furs commercials from the 80s and 90s that were so popular in Detroit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g3XTP2XJEwU

At first thought I felt that was way light for Riley but after checking his numbers he has been relatively meh the past couple seasons which I hadn't been paying attention to. Given that and the fact he doesn't exactly have a cheap contract then his value may not be as high as I originally thought and your proposal could be something they may go for.

2025 Detroit Tigers General Discussion Thread
RandyMarsh replied to IdahoBert's topic in Detroit Tigers
If memory serves me correct the Tigers started playing better almost immediately after Riley joined the team which coined the short term saying around here of "Riley Greene effect" anytime something positive happened for the Tigers in that time. -
I asked Google yesterday to give me my family Medical Doctors number cause I misplaced it and instead of spitting out the number "gemini" spit out a 1000 word essay about his background......he's been our family Doctor for almost 50 yrs now so we know alot about him and his background and virtually everything it said about him wasn't accurate.

Perez certainly has looked liked a borderline All Star level player when he is on the field, hard to say for sure if that is truly the caliber of player he is but boy if it were that would be quite the unexpected surprise.
-
No matter what happens with Andy he can take solace in knowing that he will always live in Tigers lore thanks to that game winning hit against the Astros in the playoffs.

Carpenter was struggling for a bit before this but this brutal week coincides with when he got sent home and looked like he was running in slow motion while doing so. Coincidence or did that further aggravate his hamstring?

6/19/25 DH Pirates @ Tigers Game 1 - 1:10PM Game 2 - 5:40PM

Wow, it looks like a Pirates fan as well unless it's a team with a different yellow jersey. -

It's doom and gloom according to the local weather but according to the weather channel app and radar it doesn't look as bad. As of now their radar doesn't show the storm hitting till 8:30 and it only lasts like 15 minutes.

I'm of the mindset that once the QB leaves the line of scrimmage and chooses to be a runner he should be treated no different than any other ball carrier. He's no more defenseless than any other person in that instance and is actually bigger than most non TEs nowadays.

From what I just saw on channel 7 it appears that there is a window from 3-6 where it should be dry, I wonder if they would consider moving it up if that forecast stays true the next few hours?

On the topic of former Tigers, predictably Kody Clemens is crashing back down to Earth after his Ruthian start with the Twins. Had 5HRs in his first 55ABs with them, since then only 1 in 41 while sporting an OPS in the 400s in that span.

2025 Detroit Tigers General Discussion Thread

Not sure if it has been posted anywhere else on here yet but just in case it hasn't here is the first All Star game voting update. Gleyber leads 2B along with Greene being 2nd only to Judge among OFs. Baez and Carp are also in the top 10 for OF. https://www.mlb.com/news/2025-mlb-all-star-ballot-first-update -
This was in the mid 00s so pre Fielder but David Ortiz and Carlos Pena are two guys that I remember doing it for sure.

Greene destroyed that! I used to have season tickets in literally that exact same row, and in the 3 years we sat there I could proably count on 1 hand how many were hit to us.
