  1. I think those that actually watched the whole press conference could filter out the headline clips and understand that Campbell had a high football IQ and was very forward thinking. While I can't recall if it was the true original press conference I know early on in the process he talked about analytics and how he plans to often lean towards them especially in regards to 4th down situations. Also talked about how much he learned under Sean Payton who was one of the most forward thinking head coaches of his time. All things that contradict the whole meathead football coach from a bygone era.
  2. With the possible exception of QBs I think all former NFL players turned Head Coaches get lumped into the meathead category especially when you are the physical stature of Campbell, so while the opening press conference sound bites certainly didn't help I think people would assume he was just a rah rah no intellect coach either way.
  3. I lost faith in Caldwell after that loss to Seattle on MNF where the Seahawks player illegally batted the ball for a safety. It bothered me that Caldwell said nothing to the officials about it or made any scene whatsoever. I don't need you to go crazy out there and make a real scene but jeez show some emotion and try to argue the point to the official, it may fall on deaf ears or it may make them realize that they made an honest mistake and correct it(given the Lions history probably not) but it doesn't hurt to try.
  4. I'm pretty sure it was, I remember I was a member of a different Lions board back then and Marvin Lewis and the Bengals were the darlings of all the members there around that time and the organization that most of the members pointed to when talking about a franchise that the Lions could strive to be.
  5. I think people also take for granted the rate Goff makes "easy" throws. The haters will say "anybody can hit a wide open receiver" and while that is true even the best don't complete the throws at the rate Goff does. It is a rarity for Goff to miss an open receiver and fans take that for granted, QBs miss open receivers all the time, most at a rate much higher than Goff but instead of focusing on all the extra completions and yards Goff will give you a game by not being errant they will focus on the couple plays a game that he doesn't make that others may due to his lack of mobility.
  6. Yep one of the reasons Goff will never be accurately judged by fans and the "experts". The things he excels at are things that are hard to quantify and/or are taken for granted. It will forever bug me how people judge QBs by the things they can do when everything goes to hell but not judge them the 80-90% time things do actually go according to plan. People take for granted just how good Goff is in those ideal situations(which he creates for himself many of times by his vision), yes every QB is better when they are in said spots but Goff is on an even higher level than others in those scenarios.
  7. Yeah if it's not a career ender at the very least he isn't going to be the same player, as much as it sucked losing Hutch last year this is an example of how it could have been so much worse and we were pretty fortunate that it was "only" a broken bone.
  8. I just hope the Reed thing isn't something that lingers all year. We got Cincy, KC and TB before the bye, not exactly the most favorable slate of teams to face without your top corner but we may be best served just to bite the bullet and sit him out until then just to make sure it doesn't linger all year.
  9. The fabeled Packers defense that was crowned as the 00 Ravens after 1 week has now only given up 4 less points than the Lions.
  10. Of course right as I say that they give up a TD.
  11. The Colts have a good squad IF Daniel Jones can be this years Sam Darnold that team could be real good.
  12. Well we got Johnathan "Deion Branch" Vilma on commentary again this week.
  13. As expected the game drew monster ratings, 2nd highest "regular" MNF game of the past 20 seasons trailing only the SB rematch of Eagles/Chiefs in 2023 and 4th highest MNF total(Lions/Cowboys in 2023 was 2nd). Regular means true Monday Night Football game not a Holiday game that may not have been on Monday night but was played under the Monday Night Football banner. Also highest rated week 3 MNF matchup in NFL history.
  14. This is incredible, not AI done either. Can only imagine the amount of time it took to put this together.
  15. PFF gave Sewell a 98.7 grade, it's the single highest grade for a tackle in the 20 years of their grading.
  16. I was gonna say that as well, yeah I'm half joking but seriously with a guy that has an injury rep like him you may be better served stashing him until/when your regular guys start to wear down or get hurt at the end of the season.
  17. BTW just checked the weather forecast out of curiosity and it looks like it's going to be a nice evening in Baltimore, 70 degrees, clear and only a few mph of wind so we won't have to worry about that being a factor.
  18. This is my feeling as well. If they manage to get out of the first quarter still in good shape I will feel pretty good about their chances but I just have a bad feeling it's gonna start off like the Packers game.
  19. I'm so glad the Packers lost, they started 2-0 and people were acting like they were the 85 bears or 07 Patriots. So annoying.
  20. I may be being hyperbolic due to it just happening but seriously one of the worst things I have ever seen from a head coach in terms of timeout usage.
  21. Was screaming at the TV for Michigan to call a timeout after the 3rd down for that very reason. Inexcusable not to do it.
  22. I was curious so I looked at the Dolphins game results the past few seasons and unless I missed somebody I only saw 1 win in the past 3 calendar years against a winning team(at the time of the game) and that was a 2 pt home victory against Dallas in 2023. If that is indeed accurate that is just wild.
