  1. Good news, Nido cleared waivers and has been outrighted to Toledo. Thought we were for sure gonna lose him.
  2. Skenes very well maybe worth that much to some team or somebody but not to me he isn't and that's not a slight on him it's just the nature of pitchers and the way the game is trending. If we were completely loaded with great young up the middle players on our roster I'd probably consider it but with all due respect to Sweeney and Meadows I just don't think we are.
  3. Just read one of the legit most unbelievable random stats/tidbits I've heard in awhile and that is with SGA's MVP this now makes 9 straight seasons where the MVP didn't have a tattoo. Cade doesn't have any tattoos does he? If not maybe he can make it 10 straight next season!
  4. I know it's a cold night and that could help explain it but still can't say I like seeing Flaherty's fastball sit at 90 and 91MPH. Doesn't seem like a good sign.
  5. Giants put Verlander on the DL so no chance of him pitching in Comerica next week. It's been almost 8 yrs since he left and I don't think he has pitched here but maybe once or twice.
  6. Funny how there were strong rumors and beliefs that Hutch was gonna play in the SB if we made it and here we are in the end of May and he is just getting cleared for football activities.
  7. I still remember when I was maybe 6 or 7 yrs old my Dad waking me up in the morning and saying "Do you know what today is? It's the All Star Game!" It was a big deal to me but for him and probably his generation it was even bigger. BTW the game in question was the game where Bo Jackson led off the game with a HR. He was one of my favorites at the time so that was a cool thing for me.
  8. I remember when ESPN did their "Fame" rankings a few years back where they took the 100 most famous athletes in the world. They used things like endorsements, social media followers and mentions among other things and I think out of the 100 only Ohtani made it from baseball. Just wild knowing how famous baseball players once were.
  9. I think Riley will always fly under the radar cause he doesn't excel at things the MLB hypes like HR, steals or overall flashiness. You basically need to either be a 40/40 type guy or 50 HR guy to get any type of national hype.
  10. They remind me alot of some of those old Rays teams that were always good. They have versatility up and down the lineup. Play good defense, run the bases well and always have players put in the best situation for them to succeed. Hopefully unlike them we actually will win a World Series though.
  11. I've read a couple possible fluff pieces on Dylan Smith and how dominant he has looked since moving to the pen. I'm holding out hope that he could be a guy that could help us internally in the pen later this year.
  12. The 2007 team? Im pretty sure they got to like 15 games over .500 by one point in the first half of the season.
  13. We know Dombrowski and Avila along with Pudge had a connection with Miggy so once it became known in the inner circle of the league that he could be available I could see one or all of them talking him up to Ilitch. Then maybe a week or two later when it became known outside of the inner circle and national rumors started running rampant Mike may have went back to them and said go get that guy.
  14. I question the reliability of defensive metrics this early in the season especially for catchers but FWIW according to savant Dingler is 10th in baseball in fielding run value at +5. That's not 10th among catchers but 10th among ALL fielders.
  15. Sonny Gray feels like he's been a Tigers killer going all the way back to his A's days.
  16. I know most don't care about Rankings but for those that do the Tigers moved up to number 2 in mlb.com power rankings and to the top spot in CBS's rankings. I'm sure you'd have to go back to 2014 at the earliest before you'd find the Tigers in the top spot of any national power rankings.
  17. I know Law said in one of his latest chats that he likes Rainer over Griffin as well.
  18. Hard to believe that Pacheco is still only 22, feels like he has been around forever.
  19. There was a stretch from 84-2014 where you only had 8 franchises with titles the Celtics, Lakers, Pistons, Bulls, Rockets, Spurs, Heat and Mavericks. And all but the Mavericks won multiple titles.
  20. LOLEAFS!!!!
  21. Pretty cool tidbit even if minor league team record isn't always the best indicator of system strength.
