  1. I see no reason why Jung wouldn't get called up some point this season if he performs well in the minors and the guys on the big league team don't or get injured. I mean he's 23 and will be 2 years removed from getting drafted so from that perspective it's not that out of line.
  2. I wonder if Goff knew this was coming as well and that's why he hasn't signed yet.
  3. That and from what I understand there are certain rules in the NBA that don't pertain to leagues around the globe which makes offense even easier for guys. I remember Luka was on Redick's podcast a couple years ago and JJ asked him the difference between the NBA and Euroleague and Luka said the NBA was much easier which at first caught JJ by surprise until Luka explained the rules differences. I can't remember for sure which ones he mentioned but I believe 3 in the key was one of them. IIRC he said in Europe there was almost always a guy waiting for you at the rim cause they would just be camping out there but in the NBA you of course can't do that. He mentioned other factors as well but the rules thing is what stuck out to me.
  4. I think a guy like Joey Bosa could work since he only has 2 years left on his contract and the next couple years we should have the space to afford that. I just question what it would take to get him, if it's just a mid round pick or 2 then I'd go for it but I'm a little apprehensive about giving up a 1st for him.
  5. I have no idea how much it would cost nor if the Lions would even be interested in spending the money on a kicker but if they choose to go that route I'd love to go after Chase McLaughlin. He's a UFA, last year he went 29-31 on Field Goals including 7 of 8 from 50+ so he showed he was reliable from deep. Also didn't miss a PAT all year. Plus he is only 27 so if we sign him to a long term contract we could be set there for the foreseeable future. If they want to go the short term route they could sign somebody like Nick Folk for a year or 2. He'll be turning 40 but he showed he's still reliable going 29-30 overall and 11-12 from 40+(5-6 from 50+). Whatever the case I think it is pretty imperative they find a kicker that is reliable and Campbell trusts cause I still believe many of his 4th down calls this year were because he just didn't trust our guys to make it from outside say 40 yards.
  6. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/2024-top-100-prospects/ FG top 100. Tigers have 4 with Jobe 16, Clark 36, Keith 46 and Jung 48.
  7. ESPN put out their "overhaul" rankings today, which is essentially a future power ranking and they had the Lions number 2 behind Baltimore and in the "Still Super Bowl Contenders" tier. Baltimore, Detroit, KC and SF were the 4 teams in that order in that tier.
  8. The Commanders are looking like us under Quinn, except instead of going after anybody with ties to the Pats they are going after Lions.
  9. 25 mill a year seems like a pretty good deal for the Lions cause aren't other top WRs making upwards of 30 a year nowadays?
  10. Many of Holmes picks end up taking major strides in year 2 or 3 like Iffy, Barnes, Paschal(when he wasnt injured) and McNeil so despite his lackluster effort in limited time this year I'm not writing off Sordsal being a player in the future.
  11. I know there's guys from back in the day like Moon and Flutie who had NFL success after being in the CFL but are there any real recent examples? I trust Holmes but I'm totally tempering my expectations on this one. Maybe he'll help but I'm guessing more than likely he isn't going to amount to much.
  12. Shannon Hogan could handle all the on field reporting herself, she didnt need to be saddled with 4 people.
  13. Yeah if it wasn't Swift then it probably be a constant shot at one of the players' parents.
  14. I rarely watch or read anything outside of sports and history stuff nor do I listen to any current music so I was pretty ignorant to her fame. I mean I obviously heard of her and knew she was one of the biggest stars but it wasn't until she played here and I watched the local news and how crazy everybody was until I realized that she wasn't just one of the bigger names but she was far and away the most famous star going. It especially made me do a double take when my 75 year old Step Dad who isn't into current pop culture brought up "being a Swiftie" the fact he would know the term for her fans really let me know how famous she was.
  15. As I mentioned atleast according to PFFs rankings there appears to be several really good interior o lineman this FA so if Jackson were to leave we atleast have other options if we want to go the FA route.
  16. Pff only had him as like the 70th or 80th best FA with atleast a half dozen interior lineman ahead of him, also projected his yearly cap hit to be around 8 million so atleast in their views he isn't going to cost a fortune.
  17. I might be upset with the kicker too if it were my team but it's not fair to say that if he made the kick they would've won. Lets say he does and they go up 4, KC then knows they have to score a TD and their strategy completely changes once they get in their territory since now they know a FG does them no good. So if Moody makes that kick SF could've just as easily lost in regulation due to KC scoring a TD.
  18. Down 3 around the red zone and facing a 4th and 3, Shanahan doesn't "take the points" instead goes for it and 2 plays later they score the TD and are back in front.
  19. Yeah in theory that definitely is the idea but as we saw last year the key really is actually sacking the QB or atleast keeping him contained cause too many QBs nowadays work as good if not better when flushed out of the pocket or scrambling. Having another guy pressure from the other direction could help maintain that though and if you don't force the sack you can atleast keep him contained in the collapsed pocket which could lead to a bad or hurried throw.
  20. I know it gets talked about sometimes but it's wild to look at those early 90s Tigers offenses and see just how great they were. Like in 1993 they had 6 guys with 400+ ABs finish with 130+ or more. That is insane and that doesn't even include Cecil Fielder who had 30 bombs and a 124+. Also got 90 PAs of 142+ from Eric Davis. If only they had any semblance of pitching.
  21. I'd imagine it's hard for any projection system to nail down a team like the Tigers that is so dependent on players that are completely unproven or have such small samples like say a Tork or Greene. In Tork's case it's not super small but he suddenly turned into this major power threat in the last few months of the season so in that regard it's small and Greene has been productive when he plays but has missed so much time already. Pitching wise we have Maeda who probably isn't that hard to project but everybody else in the rotation just doesn't have much of a track record and/or is oft injured in the case of Skubal. These are the biggest reasons why the Tigers are probably one of the most volatile teams to project or predict this year and could be one of those teams where it looks like the projection systems got way wrong at the end of the year in the good or bad side. Lets hope it ends up showing that they were way too down on us.
  22. Yeah I think Avila's vision was correct but he just didn't seem to execute them the right way or in terms of trading guys I think he either didn't identify the right players from the other team or didn't trade the guys at the right time(JV being the biggest example). I do think he put more resources into analytics and the player development side of things and understood the importance of that but by the time he took over and was able to do that we were already so behind other teams it was impossible to catch up in any short amount of time. Edman or Mark would definitely know more but it feels like we are now getting closer to majority of teams in those department, probably still way behind the top ones but I don't think we are near the bottom like we were.
