Week Thirteen: Chicago Bears (4-7) @ Detroit Lions (10-1)

Another "civilian" throw by Goff there. -
If Edman doesnt have him on a spreadsheet are we sure the person actually exists?

Great video Chas! Kinda OT but Babe Ruth's swing is so sweet, you can argue whether or not it would work in today's game but in general how he transfers is weight, the lag he creates with his wrists/hands and how long he keeps the barrel in the zone is so amazing. For how heavy of bat he swung he probably still had insane bat speed.

Yeah for Buffalo I was gonna say that I had no idea where their team came from but since they used a Buffalo for their logo that's what I was gonna use as their mascot.

Random thought in regards to this, you could almost be able to have divisions based off mascots. Land predator division Lions, Bengals, Jaguars, Panthers, Bears Birds Cardinals, Seahawks, Eagles, Ravens, Falcons Other Animals Dolphins, Rams, Broncos, Colts, Bills "Good" people Patriots, 49ers, Chiefs, Commanders, Saints, Steelers "Bad" people Cowboys, Bucs, Raiders, Vikings, Texans Random crap Browns, Chargers, Giants, Titans, Jets, Packers

2022 Detroit Lions Regular Season Thread in Detroit Lions Posted November 4, 2022 Its a fine line between giving a GM/Coach too much rope or cutting them too early. Yeah the Lions haven't made the progress in the win/loss department like I hoped but unlike with Quinntricia I can see some positive things that Holmes/Campbell have brought to the table despite that. I believe Holmes knows what he is doing and while Campbell has made some mistakes on the field that is only one part of being a HC and maybe the most insignificant part at that. Most on field decisions are based off of what the analytics tell you, sometime you look like a genius if those decisions work out other times you don't, but what you do away from Sunday and how players respect and want to play for you is 100% on the coach and it seems in that regard Campbell has it. I also respect the fact that he is willing to make changes and hold other coaches responsible by evidence of the Pleasant firing this year and Lynn firing last year. This isn't to say that both should be given a 5+ year leash but I think calling for their firing just 2 years in could be a bit premature no matter where we finish this season. Yes turnarounds can happen fast in the NFL but sometimes they do take a few years and I rather give the guys a chance to see their vision through before firing them and starting over half way through. That was my feeling on Dan towards our low point, little did I know then how fast we would turn it around. -

Lions fall to 5th all time through 11 games, still the best non undefeated team though. On a side note its the Lions franchise luck that arguably the best team they ever had before this one happened to run into the 2nd best team of all time in the NFC Championship game. -

I think Henning still takes victory laps over the Adames call. One of his biggest wins the past decade or so. -
Some Lions fans were saying stuff like "we apolpgize to our fellow feline and their fan base the Lions were just giving tough love last week for the long term gain of no Pederson." It was just filled with jargon like that with all the cat fans sticking up for one another and the bird fans doing likewise.

I was always in the defer camp but lately I switched to receiving camp. Yeah it's nice having the possibility of double dipping but those opportunities rarely happen. A team might get one a season if they are lucky. Atleast when you get the ball first you know you are getting the ball at a 50/50 win probability rate where as if you defer you could get the ball when your win probability is really high or really low so the possession doesn't mean that much.

I came across something on YT last night where there is some sorta coalition between all the feline fan bases against the bird fan bases. Given the fact that the Lions are the only good cat team at the moment it is an unfair fight against the likes of the Eagles, Ravens, Cardinals and others.

Bout time Williams actually gets some good news, not excusing his behavior but it feels like it's been nothing but bad news for him since he came into the league. -

I am looking forward to seeing how the defense fairs against a qb like Josh Allen in a couple weeks. I don't expect them to hold them without a TD like they have done the last couple weeks but if they can even hold them to around 21 points it would make me feel good about this defense come playoff time and would show that they can handle even the best qbs. -

The Lions scored as many TDs in their game against JAX as the defense has given up in the last 2 months combined.(7) -

Yep, we're a Bates missed Field Goal in Minny away from being the 5 seed right now despite the dominant season. -

We've gotten next to no help from anybody when it comes to the Vikings, not only did we give them 1 of their 2 losses their other loss was on a short week after playing us, so half that loss could probably be contributed to how tough we were against them. -

It's amazing we're to the point with this team where a 3 score game on the road against a near .500 team only feels like a "meh" win. -

BTW Jamo hit with a 20K fine for his endzone celebration last week. Between the suspensions and the fines I wonder if Williams has actually taken home any money since he's been in the NFL. -

Looking at the rest of the schedule and this could possibly be our last 1PM game of the season. Currently the only other scheduled one is in week 16 against the Bears but if the Bears get their **** together and get back in the playoff race that could possibly get flexed. The current SNF game that week is TB/Dallas and while it would be hard for the NFL to downgrade a Dallas game with how they are playing they may actually do it. Philly/Washington is also that week so I'd imagine they'd be pick first if it does happen but there's still an outside chance it could be the Lions game IF the Bears do actually get things going. -

Holmes also picked up UDFAs Brock Wright, Craig Reynolds and Jerry Jacobs. The first 2 are still on the team and dressing every week and Jacobs while not being that good did play for 3 years and produce 4 INTs which for an UDFA is a major win. -

Does Underwood receive all this money up front or does it depend on if he actually stays the full 3 or 4 years? If it doesn't whats stopping him from taking the reported 10-12 million then transferring next year? -
https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5940518/2024/11/22/detroit-lions-super-bowl-betting-2024/ Article about how Vegas is scared of the Lions and is the one team that could really hurt them if they were to win it all. Talked about how they already have been killing them due to how much money is put on them and how they always cover. Also talks about how they asked 6 oddsmakers what they would place the line at right now against the Chiefs on a neutral field and all favored the Lions with one guy going up to 4.5. IDK the conspiracy theorist in me gets worried about this due to how much power Vegas has and the money at stake. They wouldn't dare get in a refs ear about making sure the Lions don't win when it comes playoff time would they?

Just a thought but I wonder with it being a contract year if he was pressing to put up more counting stats? Also the Astros as a whole were worse on offense than in years past with their walk rate being down .70 walks per 9 so maybe something changed in the team's approach?
