Since I was too young to experience that 186-184 game I think my fondest memory of a Pistons/Nuggets game was the one where Sheed stole the inbound pass and made a 3/4 court buzzer beater to send the game into OT.

Week Sixteen: Detroit Lions (12-2) @ Chicago Bears (4-10)
RandyMarsh replied to MichiganCardinal's topic in Detroit Lions
They were 5-3 and easily could've been 6-2 their last 8 games with a young roster and Justin Fields as their QB. When a young and bad team makes that type of progress throughout the year it's not uncommon for a team to stick with the coach especially in year 2. I totally see your point though. -

Not a Chicagoan like you so obviously don't follow them as closely nor know what the fans or local media think but from an outsider I could understand keeping Eberflus based off of how they finished the year last year. -
2024 - 2025 Detroit Tigers Offseason

Burnes scares me, he gives me Zimmermann vibes. Not that I expect him to be as bad as Jordan was here but I mean there are some underlining things that question whether he is due to a decline just like I had with Zimm when we signed him. For me the issue with Burnes that scares me is his swing and miss rate, both are down over 10% from just a couple years ago. They still aren't bad or anything but that type of drop is concerning to me when you are now on the wrong side of 30. -
I know it's highly unlikely but if we were to draw the Knicks I think we'd have a relatively good chance of winning. By relatively I mean maybe 1 out of 4 or 5 which compared to essentially zero the last time 3 times we made the playoffs is kinda hopeful. We have zero chance against Cleveland or Boston and only a Giannis injury chance against Milwaukee.

Seeing as it was the pistons I can't believe the foul wasn't overturned and the reviewed showed that his shoelace was on the line so it got ruled a 2pter.

Philly is irrelevant now when it comes to us cause the only way they can pass us is if we lose the last 2 and if we lose the last 2 we're looking at the 5 seed regardless.

Some of the talking heads are talking about Pete Carroll being interested in the Bears job. Don't know how I feel about that, on one hand he is an all time great who has had success virtually every where he has gone but OTOH he is obviously getting up there in age so could be just a short term fix where as somebody like Ben Johnson or even a Mike Vrabel has the possibility to completely change the culture and team for the foreseeable future.

BTW this is why I was reluctant of making an "all in" trade, if you can get somebody that will be in their prime for the next several years then sure. But I don't want to give up draft capital for a 1 or 2 year guy, in the NFL you always need to churn out young talent and you get that by of course drafting well and you need picks to draft well.
-
49ers also gave up a lot of draft capital for Trey Lance and Christian McCaffrey. The Lance thing was obviously a debacle and for most franchises it could've been a 5 year killer but luckily for the 9ers they hit on Purdy and had enough talent on the roster to with stand that...atleast for the immediate future. But eventually stuff like that catches up to you and I think it is now. As far as McCaffrey, certainly not saying it was a bad trade but the 49ers gave up a large portion of their 2023 draft for him, which along with already giving up their 2023 1st in the aforementioned Lance trade essentially meant they just forfeited an entire draft. Again that type of thing may not show up right away but eventually they always do and I think we are seeing that now.

BTW barring some unforeseen off the field incident or major injury which given his history is no sure thing I'm thinking Jamo has played his way into the 5th year option. -
We had a similar situation last year against Dallas, while it wasn't officially meaningless for all intents and purposes it appeared that way going in cause we needed a lot of help to get the one seed even with a win. People speculated how DC was gonna play it and of course he played it as business as usual.
-
Yep that's what I was saying yesterday, it's nice having the game being on Monday so we will know our situation beforehand. It does seem to go against Dan's philosophy by resting guys but given all the injuries we have and how hard we have been hit this year even Dan may errer on the side of caution and rest or take guys out early.

Week Sixteen: Detroit Lions (12-2) @ Chicago Bears (4-10)

Goff said in the presser that on Monday Johnson came up to Goff and asked him if he fumbled on purpose would he be able to recover it and Goff said he wasn't sure about that so Johnson pivoted to the stumble instead. I guess they called it earlier in the game but Goff checked out of it cause he didn't like the look, glad they went back to it though. -

And yes the 49ers are now officially eliminated from the playoffs. -

RandyMarsh replied to MichiganCardinal's topic in Detroit Lions
The Eagles now likely aren't an issue for the Lions since it would take us losing the last 2 games for them to pass us and if that were to happen in all likelihood we wouldn't win the division anyway so it wouldn't matter. -

Nice to finally get some help against the Eagles or Vikings, first time in almost 2 months that has happened. -

If the Eagles were to actually lose there's a good chance that next week's game against the 49ers could end up meaning practically nothing for the Lions cause either way a win would be needed in Week 18 for the division and number 1 seed. If the Vikings were to lose today or next week that could change but with our game being on MOnday Night we will know ahead of time if that is the case. -

LOL at the Bears, might as well throw in the towel by kicking a FG there. -

No doubt the stumbling was on purpose in my opinion. Like the announcer said what is the likelihood that BOTH Gibbs and Goff stumble with Gibbs falling down on the same play? Wonder how many teams are gonna try to steal that one now? -
I hate OSU but damn is Jeremiah Smith good, it's criminal how OSU seems to churn out these stud WRs every year and Michigan throws out a bunch of chumps.
