  1. I wish this forum had a feature where you could just block phrases. I would totally block Chase Young.
  2. Yeah he didn't quote the part where I said Dombrowski was just hired. It was a brand new rebuild. The Randy Smith one failed.
  3. Just think of the era from 2002 to 2009. Almost every year a Detroit team was in the championship: 2002: Red Wings 2003: None 2004: Pistons 2005: Pistons 2006: Tigers 2007: None 2008: Red Wings 2009: Red Wings
  4. Man, I just realized the 04 championship was 20 years ago. More time has elapsed between that championship and now then between the Bad Boys era and the Going to Work era.
  5. I remember in the depths of the Millen era, chants of fire Millen would break out during Pistons and Red Wings game. Wouldn't be wild if a fire Weaver chant breaks out at a Lions game?
  6. Here's the worst part about the Lions. In the 90's, they had in their front office Kevin Colbert, Rick Spielman, and Thommas Dimitroff, all three of them had varying success after the Lions. Colbert, especially, left the Lions in 2000 and the Lions hired Millen in 2001 who had no experience of any kind running a team. Millen really should have been hired for the current Spielman role.
  7. I feel this team is unique because of inept they are. The 119 loss Tigers were at the beginning of a rebuild. Dombrowski was just hired. The Pistons should be winning games by now and they are worse than they ever have been. The 0-16 you were only subjected to it once a week and getting the #1 pick meant you were getting a potential franchise QB. There isn't even hope. It's like watch a snuff film.
  8. I've become more interested in the Pistons because of their losing. I can't look away. I've bought into the theory that Detroit has to have one completely inept franchise and that is no longer the Lions.
  9. Scott Mitchell was pretty good in 95. The Lions have made some bad moves but I'm not sure the Mitchell move was that high.
  10. I think you can make the case that the team Campbell inherited was worse than the 0-16 team Schwartz inherited. That team at least had Calvin Johnson and the #1 pick. The team Campbell inherited only had a couple good pieces on the offensive line and no stars.
  11. Suh is still sitting out there as a free agent. With McNeil out just saying...
  12. I still believe Schwartz was a better coach than he was given credit for and should have been given a second chance. He's proven to still be an elite defensive coordinator and a little maturity and lessons learned from his Lions tenure would make him a good hire. I think Campbell is the best of the Super Bowl era. He is the first coach I've seen actually build an identity and team and improve year to year.
  13. What's the deal with Buggs? He's been a healthy inactive a lot after projecting to be the starting nose in the preseason. He's been passed on the depth chart by Bohanna who was picked up off the practice squad. There is something more going on with him. Guessing it's an effort/practice thing.
  14. I'm not sure I follow since the 49ers have better pass rushers than the Lions.
  15. Christ with Chase Young. Bruce Irvin has been as productive in 11 snaps as Young has been with the 49ers.
  16. If there ever was a time for Levi to prove he is not a bust, now would be that time.
  17. So McNeil was placed on IR. Seems a lot worse than what Campbell lead on.
  18. The Eagles defense went from 8th last year to 24th this year and they just got smoked by the 49ers who actually had a healthy QB. The Eagles last year beat a weak Giants team and a 49ers without a healthy QB. I don't think they are as good as they are made out to be. I'm not sure the Lions beat them but they are a flawed team.
  19. I was kind of hoping the Jets would fire Saleh so the Lions could hire him as defensive coordinator.
  20. I can't wait for Rodgers to jerk around the Jets in the offseason.
  21. Wentz was begging the Jets to sign him. Wentz has to be better than Wilson and Boyle?
  22. It would be like the Rams trading for Stafford and still keeping Goff as the backup. What was the plan with Wilson? Did they really think he was the future QB still? It's not like he was even a cheap backup. His cap hit was $9.5 million.
  23. This defense is better than the Eagles. Everyone thinks they can win a Super Bowl so yeah I think it's good enough. The Lions aren't going to win a playoff game because of their defense. I don't have strong feelings about Glenn. I think some public admonishment would do more harm than good and would just serve as red meat to fans. Dan Campbell's greatest skill is culture building and I trust his handling of Glenn. I don't think there is a good solution this year as there just aren't defensive coordinators available mid season and it's too late to change defensive schemes. I wouldn't be upset if the Lions and Glenn parted ways in the offseason. Campbell can recruit top defensive coaches because he has a culture where coaches aren't thrown under the bus publicly.
  24. That's what I'm saying. He flopped and you replaced him but you still keep him on the roster? It's awkward. They should have moved him and give him a fresh start somewhere else like they did with Darnold and bring in a veteran backup and/or have kept Mike White instead of Wilson.
