  1. Goff's contract currently is not guaranteed and the Lions can cut him at any time. I don't think players want to play on the franchise tag. A Carr like extension gives Goff guarantees in the short term and the ability for the Lions to move on on the backside of the contract. I think it's a win for both sides. It doesn't really take the Lions out of switching QBs and gives Goff some guarantees.
  2. I wouldn't be opposed to signing Goff to a similar contact as Carr.
  3. Edmunds could be a fit for the Lions.
  4. I still don't get the Hillary hate. I'm told I'm suppose to hate her but I don't know why.
  5. Yeah the Soldier Field renovation was ridiculous. I would rather have a development that adds housing and retail than a 70,000 seat stadium and the necessary parking. Suburbs just make more sense for an NFL stadium.
  6. If the project you are talking about on the North Side is Lincoln Yards, that would be much better for Chicago than a stadium. New York turned away the Jets in Manhattan to build Hudson Yards. That a much better use of an old railyard than a stadium.
  7. Wasn't there a plan in the 90's to build a dome at McCormick Place called the McDome? That may be the one ok place to build a stadium in a city because you can share parking with McCormick Place and use the dome as part of the convention center. I have to imagine there are limited tailgating options at Soldier Field. It's also the smallest stadium in the NFL so if parking is adequate, would it be adequate for 10,000 more people?
  8. Didn't Chicago lose out on the Lucas Museum because they fought to keep a parking lot at Soldier Field?
  9. There's really nothing to work out. Are you saying the Bears never asked Chicago for money for the stadium? Are their locations in Chicago for a large stadium and parking in an accessible neighborhood? I'm not sure why Chicago is coming back with half baked plans to keep the Bears like a dome over Soldier Field. I would just be telling the Bears bye.
  10. It's too bad the Bears are going to be building this nice new stadium and will constantly be looking up in the standings at the Lions.
  11. Good for Chicago. I would tell the Bears to get lost. There's better use for land in Chicago than a 70,000 seat stadium and the necessary parking. They built Ford Field downtown and it's vacant 99% of the time. The Bears should have left for the suburbs the same time the Lions left for Pontiac.
  12. Why should Chicago give handouts to the Bears? The Bears need Chicago more than Chicago needs the Bears. NFL stadiums are better off in the suburbs than in a lakeside park. Do people who even live in Chicago go to Bears games?
  13. I don't understand why they care so much whether the Bears play in Chicago or the suburbs. The Rams that they cite play in the suburbs. A giant football stadium that is used 8 times a year is a waste for a city. I remember when New York kicked around building a stadium in Manhattan for the Jets. Instead they built Hudson Yards which currently houses over 70,000 people.
  14. Why is Mahomes not a system QB? What has he done without Reid? What did Allen do before Daboll?
  15. Apparently there is a manual for Goff. You just do what the Rams did. When been Johnson leaves, the new guy just does what the Rams did.
  16. Remember, Daniel Jones was the 6th pick when they still had Manning. New York spent that extra cap space on Kenny Golladay. You got to pay your QBs eventually.
  17. So you're saying the Lions have good coaches who tailor their offensive game plan around the skills of their QB? Do you think Lamar Jackson should run the same offense as Goff?
  18. Goff in LA was just a system QB. Goes to Detroit and has success in a completely different system. Goff is still a system QB.
  19. I would go all in on Matt Gay. The Lions are the favorites to win the division. Now is the time you can spend money on a kicker. Matt Gay is also young. I want a reliable kicker if I'm trying to compete and win playoff games.
  20. Right and nothing in that article actually says the Lions are in the market for a QB other than them meeting with Richardson.
  21. It didn't quote any sources or any insider information. It was all commentary. It just stated they met with Richardson. It provides no other information that the Lions are in the market for a QB. Sorry to rain on your reading skills.
  22. If you're drafting a QB 6th, you've already made that decision. A top 10 pick is someone who should be a foundational piece. Not an insurance policy. I also like how the article says it's not a shot at Goff. Of course it is. You're saying you don't have confidence he's good enough. I'm guessing this same writer isn't writing articles about Kansas City, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Philadelphia etc to take 1st round QBs. He's probably on the side of Baltimore signing Jackson instead of drafting a QB. Not sure why so many people go through the hassle of trying not to say they don't think Goff is good enough.
