  1. KL2 is a well documented liar but he is right here. You originally said this: Your whole premise was that they wouldn't be big players in free agency because of the cap. People have pointed out that the cap is not the reason they wouldn't be players in free agency. The Lions have the cap space to sign a big free agent or two, it's whether they want to. Your post was talking about them being limited by the cap.
  2. I mean, the Packers dominated the division for over a decade and did win a Super Bowl. It's not exactly a bad thing. The Lions have a lot of draft capital this year so that may be why they are shying away from free agents. Another thing, the Lions were the 2nd youngest team in the NFL last year. Their oldest player is 29. That young core is returning and it's reasonable to assume their young players are going to get better. They are basically adding three first round picks with Williams being available from the beginning of the season now. I would maybe like to see one significant free agent meaning more than a two year deal. Maybe someone like Tremaine Edmunds or Dean.
  3. I feel like there was a plan in place and this year wasn't they year they spend big in free agency. I'm not sure the fact they exceeded expectations will change their plan. I would like to see them be a little more aggressive in free agency but I would pass on Ramsey. He's in decline, is going to cost picks, and wants a new contract making him one of the highest paid corners.
  4. What's the word on Aaron Rodgers? He see his shadow or what? I thought he wasn't going to hold the Packers hostage. Guess we'll have to watch the McAffee show on Tuesday.
  5. Because it was manufactured to ruin Trump since they know and everyone else knows Trump was incapable and too incompetent to handle a pandemic.
  6. Holmes has shown he's not afraid to draft players who had injuries like Williams and Mitchell.
  7. I'm old enough to remember when Republicans lost it over AOC dancing on a roof top. Here we have a Republican in drag frolicking through a park where children play.
  8. It says average annual so I'm assuming over the course of a 20 year war it was over $800 billion. It seems like it is being intentionally misleading with the graph.
  9. It's not about whether the Lions will draft a QB but the teams behind them will. I don't think anyone is buying we are going to draft a QB unless you want to trade with us in that case we are going to stick with Goff. It's all about getting ahead of the Raiders, Falcons, Panthers etc.
  10. They pandered to ownership but Sheila rarely gets talked about when they talk about the progress and change in culture on the Lions. She never gets credit for finding Holmes and Campbell who were on no fan's radar before they were hired.
  11. Lions seem to rank middle of the pack.
  12. Backup QB has very little benefit to the Lions for a QB that was good and didn't miss a snap. You can actually use those high round picks for players that will actually start next year. You want to draft a guy that will be the 3rd string QB with a 2nd round pick.
  13. Heineke isn't signing in Detroit. He's not going to a place where the starter didn't miss a snap and has only missed 3 games due to injury in 5 years. Heinicke is a backup. I would rather sign a veteran backup. I personally like Jameis Winston if the Saints cut him loose but again he's going to go to a place where he has a chance to start. Heinicke isn't going to start over Goff.
  14. Oh we're onto the whether he won a playoff game. It's Stafford 2.0 FWIW, I would consider the Packers game to be a playoff game. Elimination game for the Packers in Lambeau where the Lions were 3-27 in the past 30 years. Goff out played Rodgers in the 4th to win the game. In 2014 the Lions had a chance to clinch the division in Green Bay and they got rolled.
  15. Lets start with Alex Smith. The Chiefs gave a 2nd round pick for Smith when he was 29 and signed him to an extension. He played four seasons for the Chiefs before they drafted Mahomes when Smith was 32. They comitted to Smith and after a while moved on. It's not the same. The comparison should really be with Alex Smith and Colin Kapernick. I have no idea if Smith asked out but it worked out better for Smith and the 49ers fading into irrelevance for a while. All indications were that Favre was not happy with drafting Rodgers and it wasn't a clean break between Favre and the Packers. You also didn't mention Rodgers and Love. Rodgers has the Packers by the balls and they wasted a 1st round pick on a guy who started one game in three years. They now have to decide if they want to pick up his 5th year option.
  16. You said you wouldn't draft a QB in the 1st round but then said what is wrong with a little competition meaning there is merit to drafting a QB in the 1st round.
  17. 2022 was the prove it year for Goff. He proved it. Well, we need another prove it year. In the meantime, we're going to draft your replacement just in case.
  18. Who drafts QB in the 1st round for competition? It's weird there was never this drumbeat for drafting a QB high when Stafford was 28.
