  1. Montez Sweat was compared to Danielle Hunter. Note that Hunter has had multiple seasons of 12.5 and 14.5 sacks. Sweat has peaked at 9. I mean, if we're drafting a pass rusher at 8 shouldn't he be an All-Pro like Danielle Hunter?
  2. If everyone in Brooklyn was armed, they could have started firing indiscriminately in the smoke filled subway station. I'm sure they would have hit their target eventually.
  3. My comparison to Hill was more that I think Hill was the last true star the Pistons have had. With the way the NBA is these days, I expect him to leave as soon as possible for the next super team. The Pistons will put in all the work developing him and another team will sign him or give us a bunch of useless draft picks when we are forced to trade him.
  4. If Hockenson were healthy, he was on pace for 85 receptions, 825 yards, and 7 TDs. I feel there is more upside and provided he's healthy can be an 80/900/8 a year guy. None of the pass rusher you want so bad after Hockenson have had a double digit sack season. They aren't elite pass rushers. Would I be disappointed if the Lions drafted one over Hockenson? No but at the same time none are Aaron Donald. I don't think Hockenson was sold as a generational talent. You seem to be convinced of that but I saw a lot of comparisons to Jason Witten. He was build as the best all around TE in the draft. The argument about who they drafted in the past is lazy logic. Using that same logic, the Lions should have passed on Calvin Johnson. You're right we got a nice player but you make it sound like the Lions passed on All-Pro's. The Lions got the same production as Sweat from an undrafted player. Why waste a 1st round pick on a pass rusher when the Lions got the same production from an undrafted player?
  5. This play in was dumb enough but this is even worse. Why not 7 vs 10 and 8 vs 9 and the winners are seeded 7 and 8 based on record? Why do the Clippers get a 2nd chance?
  6. Achilles injuries are devasting for defensive backs. If Okudah is anything close to the player he was suppose to be, that would be a huge bonus for the Lions. The good news I guess is that his injury happened in the 1st game. He should be ready to go by training camp.
  7. Cunningham is Grant Hill 2.0. He'll be a star, the Pistons will be middle of the pack at best and lose some 1st round playoff series, and Cunningham will depart for the next super team.
  8. Probably not but a 1 year contract on what is likely not a large guarantee is worth taking a flier on. It's the type of signings a team like the Lions should be doing.
  9. I like this signing. Elliot is not a bad player when healthy and would be an upgrade over Will Harris. He's still young too.
  10. Under the Wyoming rule, California would go from 52 districts to at least 68.
  11. There were some good receivers taken in the 2nd round that year. Deebo Samuel, AJ Brown, and DK Metcalf. Samuel was off the board when the Lions drafted. The Lions drafted Tavai that year in the 2nd round.
  12. There were exactly 8 Pro Bowlers in the 1st round that year and Hockenson was one of them. Four of those 8 Pro Bowlers were drafted before Hockenson.
  13. It literally was since 6 of the next 10 drafted were DL/LB. Unless of course you wanted Dwayne Haskins or some average guards.
  14. I guess the Lions drafting a 8-9 sack a year pass rusher 8th would be so much better.
  15. These immigrants are lucky. I would take a free bus ride out of Texas all day long.
  16. I'll take it since it means both Los Angeles teams are now eliminated.
  17. Montez Sweat put up 5 sacks in 10 games last year and 9 the year before. Okwara even put up more sacks than Sweat in 2020. I'm not exactly kicking myself that the Lions passed on Sweat for Hockenson. Devin Bush has 4 total sacks. He had one of the worst LB grades last year. Burns had back to back 9 sack seasons. Good but it's not like the Lions passed on Donald for Ebron. Oliver was rated higher than all of them, drafted higher than all of them, and would have been the most likely pick if they didn't draft Hockenson.
  18. The only TE I can find that put up better numbers than Hockenson in equal or fewer games is Darren Waller. If you average Hockenson's yards out over a full season, he would rank 6th among TE's. Kittle and Waller missed some time so they would be ahead of Hockenson as well over a full season. His catches over a full season would rank 3rd among TE's. His TD's would rank tied for 7th. When healthy he is a top 10 TE and could potentially get to top 5.
  19. Hockenson also missed 5 games so it seems a little disingenuous to use total stats. The other player that was realistically a choice for the Lions at 8 was Ed Oliver who has pretty much been a bust.
  20. I'm going to hazard a guess and say he's talking about how when you went to motownsports.com there was a page with articles from the four teams. You then had to click visit forums to continue to the forums. I did a Google image search and found what I think he is talking about. Looks like we still have them but the pages are under each team now in the forum.
  21. In a similar vein, a long thread from an optomistic chap.
