  1. I'm surprised Democrats didn't try to use Texas as their rallying point the way California did.
  2. I'm going to say a lot of Never Trumpers probably voted for Youngkin.
  3. I may have to work on my Italian citizenship again. I have a contract on my house. I've been crunching the numbers and I can make it work in California. I'm looking to downsize anyways.
  4. Well done Virginia.
  5. These results have me concerned for the governor's race in Michigan.
  6. You know Virginia will now pass voter restriction bills and make Virginia very much in play in the 2024 election for Republicans.
  7. I wonder if Democrats are going to do what Republicans do and strip the governorship of it's power before leaving office?
  8. Virginia is going to make its triumphant return to the confederacy.
  9. I can't wait until voting rights start getting stripped and abortion becomes illegal and COVID cases skyrocket and the Democrats who didn't vote start protesting in their cute hats.
  10. I'm not confident but with the lack of competitive Detroit sports this is all I got.
  11. Thankfully Biden won by 10.
  12. California, which is about the same size as Canada, averaged 3 times as many deaths as Canada and California is one of the better ones in the US.
  13. Polls are closed now. Someone call it for McAuliffe.
  14. Obama won by 4 in 2012, Clinton by 5 in 2016, and Biden by 10 in 2020. McAuliffe won in 2013 (even with his party in the White House) and Northam won by 9. The trend seems to be blue. It's no California but it doesn't seem both are starting from the same starting position. All indications are that turnout is also up in Democratic areas. It's possible McAuliffe could end up with the same vote total as Northam and win by a less margin.
  15. Northam won by 9. It seems the state is moving blue. Pre 2008 elections don't seem relevant. A Republican hasn't won statewide election in 12 years.
  16. Apparently this woman is a political analyst.
  17. Wasserman also seems to act like Virginia is a tossup. It's a D+10 state. Even if turnout is up for Youngkin, it doesn't seem like turnout alone will be enough.
  18. I hope they do considering smaller Republican counties are showing 120% of 2017 turnout.
  19. It seems like a lot of people are framing this race as both candidates starting from an even position. Virginia shades to the left. Turnout has been strong in Democratic areas so it doesn't look like Youngkin will make up that ground on turnout alone. Can he convince enough Never Trumpers? If he does, that movement is dead to me.
  20. In 2017, Northam won by nearly 9 points so there is some buffer. The key is Democrats aren't getting blown out in turnout so far.
  21. I'm too invested in an election in a state I don't live in.
