Michigan Football 2024 aka The Year Michigan has to Defend a Natty
Hongbit replied to romad1's topic in College Sports
I’ve got Michigan winning today because every so often college football makes no sense. -
I’ve done more research than you can imagine on this subject and their many surveys and methods they use to collect and report data. This is not the first time I’ve posted about my issues with BLS data. The first and easiest change they should make is to not release jobs data on the first Friday of every month. It’s not enough time to gather accurate numbers. They should push back to 7 or 10 days to get a better initial results pool.

I always took Get a grip to be more abrasive than an ordinary awareness idiom but so be it. I think your take is ridiculously wrong and you think that I can’t be helped so maybe that’s where we have to agree to disagree.
-
So because it’s a hard thing to do, it’s ok to purposely put out essential data that is often off by 25 - 50%. That’s ridiculous. This has zero to do with Trump for me. It’s typical Washington bs that’s been going on for decades. Trump will be gone on Wednesday but these BLS issues will continue as long as people don’t challenge how they collect data. BTW, why are you all worked up? Definitely surprised by the tone of your reply. That got abrasive for no real reason. Ending with get a grip. Really?

It really isn’t too much to ask for a better system for a piece of data so important that it caused major market moves every time it’s released. This isn’t pump 5 at a Mobil station. Look at this chart. The consistency of massive misses on the initial release is staggering. How can you honestly refer to this an amazing feat of accuracy?
-
There are revisions every month because we use an antiquated system to gather the data. The BLS needs to determine a more modern and accurate system to collect the data. It’s one thing if the numbers are off by a small amount. August was reported as a robust 159,000 jobs gained and today was revised down to only 78,000. That’s a 50% miss. That’s too big an error on a piece of data that has so much of an impact on the markets.

Not sure how anybody could’ve watched the most recent Hard Knocks and come away impressed with Eberflus. He was just so awkward and not a leader in any way, shape, or form. A very fish out of water feeling whenever he was up in front of the team or even having one one one conversations with players. He’s a defensive X & O nerd and not a head job guy.
-
Another sneaky trick the BLS uses to deceive is rounding the data. The rounded Unemployment Rate reported and gobbled by media was 4.1% which was flat from last month. September’s actual number was 4.051 which they rounded all the way to 4.1% This month’s actual number was 4.14 which they rounded down. So the reality is that unemployment rate rose by nearly a tenth instead of flat as reported.
-
Big shocker - August and September jobs were revised down by -112,000 in today’s report. One has to think that the bogus 254k jobs the BLS made up for last month will get another revision in the next report too. Its amazes me that so much of our economy rides on this garbage data that is so easily manipulated.

But he has a plan and it’s almost ready.

The announcers are afraid to come right out and say what’s been obvious for weeks with the Jets. Rodgers is the problem. He’s old and done. We saw the signs 2 years ago in his last year in GB.
-
Still plenty of time for things to happen. There are teams trying to convince themselves they still have an outside shot at a playoff run that with another loss on Sunday will fold and become sellers. There will be a flurry of activity starting on Sunday night all the way up to 4:00 on Tuesday.

I feel bad for ever criticizing AJ after watching Aaron Boone manage.

Both guns were legally registered and the driver did have a CPL. The driver was not charged. Also importantl and a sign of some maturity and responsibility. Jamo alerted the Lions immediately after the incident happened even though he was not charged. We remember the Sutton situation, where he never alerted the team and they found out about it when everyone else did.

The voter turnout for the primaries will be minuscule compared to what we will see next week. I’d suspect the trends will fluctuate widely as well.
-
It will be interesting to watch the difference in vote totals between Slotkin and Harris. This should help to paint a pretty good picture of how the Arab American vote went here. I can’t see many Arabs voting for Slotkin because she’s Jewish.

Any maga that tries to make something out of Biden’s clap back doesn’t have ground to stand on. They just look even more hypocritical, foolish, and stupid than they normally do. F Joe Biden was a maga rallying cry for years. I saw it on flags, car decals, memes, and even chanted by thousands at NASCAR events. That was funny and ok for everyone to say but Biden responding to the bad joke at Hitlerfest 24 is blasphemous? C’mon now. maga tries to act so tough but in reality, they are the real snowflakes.

It’s poor judgement for someone with his money to be in that area after midnight without a gun.

I’m not exactly sure how the league treats this rule. There are 29 states that allow permitless carry in which Jamo wouldn’t have committed any crime. Obviously, Michigan is not one of them and he broke the law but I’d have a hard time believing the league would come down super hard on him for essentially failing to stow his registered weapon correctly. FWIW, Josh Gordon’s issues started in 2013. Marijuana was still illegal and a felony in almost every state. A decade later and everything has changed when it comes to marijuana. It’s not a death penalty from the NFL. It’s nothing. They don’t even test for it anymore.

Week Nine: Detroit Lions (6-1) @ Green Bay Packers (6-2)
Hongbit replied to MichiganCardinal's topic in Detroit Lions
It looks like the league wants the NFC North to be a battle all the way to the end of the season. They are bringing out the big guns stop the Lions from taking a commanding lead. -
Great deal. This is how Maataa’s career has gone. He’s useful in short spurts and has about a one and a half season shelf life before he falls off badly and needs a change of scenery.

Jamo finally did something smart and responsible. He better be strapped if he’s hanging out in some of the deeper parts of Detroit.
