  1. I’d really like Dan to only play the starters for a half. I understand the want to win everything and how it fits the culture that they’ve built but the reward is simply not worth the risk. I know they remember LaPorta getting hurt last year in a meaningless Week 18 game.
  2. On the other side of the coin, Carson Wentz and Jimmy Garappolo were looked at as possible future Hall of Famers. Quick decisions often end up wrong in this league.
  3. There’s starting to be a noticeable trend where college performance is carrying over to NFL success like never before. The college game has changed and it’s time for NFL scouting to change with it. So many All American level college players that slipped outside round 1 due physical measurements and combine testing are finding themselves tearing it up in the league. More emphasis on college production and less on 40 times and physical measurements. Most teams need to value the tape much more as the good ones already have. If I were a GM, I’d take my staff to the combine just for the player interviews and skip the entire 5 days of on field workouts. It’s fools gold.
  4. Agree and for this year Daniels was definitely the better pick. Time will tell if it stays that way. Hive mentality often makes the determination of franchise QB way too early. His ability to get first downs with his legs has been huge for him. The team will start limiting this big time after he gets his first big injury as we’ve seen happen many times in the past.
  5. Expected by all and now officially SNF next week
  6. From your mouth to Chris’s checkbook.
  7. If they didn’t have a better plan in place, they needed to keep Eberflus until seasons end. Thomas Brown is completely overmatched for this position. I’m not even sure he’s ready to be a full time OC much less Head Coach. He was an offensive assistant to start the year. I almost feel bad for the guy watching him make terrible decision after terrible decision. Yet another tragic move from Ryan Poles, Chicago’s version of Bob Quinn.
  8. This is another Harris flyer on a guy that had below career average numbers last year in the hopes he rebounds. He’s hit on a few of these in the past.
  9. Didn’t see The Toddfather as the choice but he’s great with young teams and taking them to the playoffs. His record once he gets them there is another thing but that’s down the road. His system is a defensive oriented 1-3-1. It will be interesting to see how quickly this group can get adjusted.
  10. Yep. I’m sure Scott Boros came up with fair market number and Bregman told him to no way that he wants more because he’s better than that.
  11. The Pistons 13-17 start is a great turnaround but they are just a Cade injury away from finishing the season 17-65. They haven’t really built much yet.
  12. It appears that we along with the Red Sox and possibly the Mets are the only suitors left for Bregman. The contract will most likely look terrible in 4 or 5 years but he’d look great in our lineup everyday for the next 3+ seasons.
  13. Goff not quite as sharp as normal in the cold. He’ll settle in soon.
  14. They have to win this one for Andy! He’s been fighting cancer for some time and it sounds like he’s getting near the end. #FTB
  15. This is all part of the Yzerplan. It’s a generational rebuild.
  16. Atlanta has the same problem as about half the league. They made the mistake of building their offense around QB and skill positions instead of QB and offensive line.
  17. He has a $56M buyout. The only way he’s gone is if Terry Pegula wants to pay for it. And yes, there’s a real shot at the full James Franklin coming out today.
  18. As you brought up earlier, the passing of Marian will be when we’ll find out the family’s future interest in continued ownership. They will get some large offers.
  19. The Ilitch family owns the Tigers. Chris runs it for the family trust. A divorce shouldn’t impact the majority ownership of the teams.
  20. I’m sure he’s been playing hurt but Glasgow has been horrible for the past few weeks.
  21. Caleb has always had a unique talent to make amazing throws on the run. It’s probably only matched by Mahomes, Lamar, and Allen. It jumps out when you watch his tape that only a few people on the planet could make some of the plays. Maybe it got lost in the awe of the skill that nobody ever stopped and asked why was he in that predicament in the first place. It’s easy to blame on the OL but how many times did he miss an easy read that he should’ve made or waited too long on an open play. He seems like a smart guy that wants to win but he’s definitely struggling to make the easy play and that has to change for him to be successful.
