It’s not tampering for an NIL agent with ties to a school to approach another players NIL agent or family about a potential offer. This is exactly why people have agents in the first place. I also imagine there are agents trying to pick up clients by saying they have a relationship with a school they don’t have knowing if that player signs with them it will open doors for the agent.
It would be tampering if a coaches or GM’s were approaching players with offers but that’s not happening.
The word has been thrown around by butthurt coaches but what’s happening behind the scenes isn’t tampering. It’s the new way of doing business.
This has all happened so fast and without any guardrails. Many coaches and fans are not understanding that this is now a year to year commitment and not a 2 or 4 years as it was in the past. Money is the most important factor followed closely by playing time since that allows them to make more money. Coaching, development, academics, and whatever else are far down the list for the top players.
