It’s not tampering for an NIL agent with ties to a school to approach another players NIL agent or family about a potential offer. This is exactly why people have agents in the first place. I also imagine there are agents trying to pick up clients by saying they have a relationship with a school they don’t have knowing if that player signs with them it will open doors for the agent. It would be tampering if a coaches or GM’s were approaching players with offers but that’s not happening. The word has been thrown around by butthurt coaches but what’s happening behind the scenes isn’t tampering. It’s the new way of doing business. This has all happened so fast and without any guardrails. Many coaches and fans are not understanding that this is now a year to year commitment and not a 2 or 4 years as it was in the past. Money is the most important factor followed closely by playing time since that allows them to make more money. Coaching, development, academics, and whatever else are far down the list for the top players.

On the subject of Ohio State - How much is Jeremiah Smith’s Sophomore season worth and will it be the Bucks that pay it? Fans aren’t quite used to this new reality that he’s a free agent right now. Ohio may have a leg up at the moment but he will spend up until the spring window to figure it out. He’s written in their lineup for next year in pencil and very lightly.

I think this may be the best hire of the cycle. Bring him in for 3 years and let him change the culture and get them back to respectability. They are nowhere close and they play in that division. Pete will be happy to go out and get them to the playoffs within 3 years and that would be like getting a normal team to the Super Bowl.
