The PFF grading model where each play is graded -2 to 2 and then totaled up for a game score is a far from perfect system to grade corners. It’s very possible to get burned deep for the game losing TD and still get a high game grade. You can do the opposite and get a game winning pick 6 and end up with a low grade.

The cap is very real when you carelessly throw money around a few years in a row. Entering today, the Dolphins had 6 players making over $20M against the cap. The Lions had 1.

We will see what the market is for Sneed. I don’t envision him costing a first. Our late second would be ok by me for him. If they could flip one of the 3rd’s, then draft compensation is no big deal in a trade. That is probably wishful thinking if he does end up with a market.

Having to pay for past performances that you didn’t bear any fruit is the downside of every big free agent signing. The Lions are entering a win now stage where a risk on a big free agent at the expense of draft capital may not be a bad idea. They don’t have nearly as many holes as they did a few years ago.
