Yep we now have had Vierling for 2 of the biggest at bats of the night and hes predictable 0 for 2.

I just cant handle it with this pinch hit platoons anymore. Vierling according to ESPN has the 3rd worst WAR in baseball and Jones is tied for 4th.

Hinch would agree with you since we sacrifice in this situation very little. The tigers have also been terrible in extra innings over the last couple years so I'm not sue I'd want to agree with him. Now I don't love bunting but we should be looking to lift the ball deep or hit to the right side.

Very young and seeing good spin for the first time and has adjusted in the past when struggling. He doesn't have to be a great hitter to effect the team in a positive way so there's a higher floor. Doesn't have to be a star but I would be surprised if he wasn't a plus player for us as early as next year and at 22 that would be a great result.

I wish I knew the stat of how often we don't get the auto runner from 2nd in compared to other teams. I honestly can't remember the last time I saw us score that runner in a game I've watched, has it happened?

I don't think that is true at all. I believe that he just believes its his duty to pitchers to try and set a new market for pitchers and he wants to win. Whoever gives him the best chance to do that he will sign with.

We certainly have a team full of swing and miss and streaky hitters.

Brewers are the best match. Although I like a lot of Dodgers prospects I can’t help but think they get the big market bump.

I agree with you and would look to trade him unless we went on a ridiculous win streak. I like the Brewers as a potential match of high end prospects that are somewhat blocked. A return of something like Lara-CF, Adamczewski-OF, along with a a pitcher or 2 like Leston and Thompson. They are so deep in top 100 and borderline top 100 prospects that there has to be something we could work out. I also like the idea of getting multiple Borderline top 100 prospects vs. just one or two top prospects.

Either injuries or suspensions or just lack of talent I am not sure I have ever seen a strong secondary for the Lions. Can anyone think of the last time when the secondary as a whole was a strength of this team?

I'm not there is calling this but if Peck can play SS next year and do it well that would be a huge benefit for next years roster.

I believe this is Jones last game with the Tigers for a while. He’s even walking around head hung down like he knows it’s coming.

I have been impressed by Cleveland's defense in this game.

I can't say I would be to upset by that. He is by far the most frustrating pitcher to watch on our staff for me. I would rather watch one of the ones that aren't good but throw strikes then watch Flaherty's starts.

A team would love to buy low on Keith but I would think that we would still ask for a pretty decent haul for him. We traded Suarez and Parades in the past to soon and I believe he could be that level of player. He is plenty big and strong enough to hit for more consistent power and it has shown that in the past. For some reason he has been off this year and I personally believe the team needs to play him more consistently, stop yanking him out of the lineup and changing positions consistently.

I haven’t dug into it much but do the stats actually bare out that Vierling has been bad in CF? I get the eye test says he’s limited but atleast according to Savant +2 in OAA in CF. 92% success rate against an expected 89%. Now is he hitting as well as he should, absolutely not. However, I would bet on that righting itself out more so then some journeyman or over the hill vet providing better production at the cost of a prospect or more money against an already really tight money situation. Perez I can’t defend, he’s been terrible and if we were healthy would not be on the team.

Got a terrible jump and Torres was there to take it but gave it up because why wouldn’t a CF get there. When does Parker come back?

I think Tork will be replaced as he gets more expensive. Unfortunately he just hasn’t developed more and unless he really picks it up this year I don’t see him in the long term plans.

I personally like Keith a lot however for some reason the organization seems like they don’t and where has the power gone? Seems like they are not developing him or atleast if they are it’s more of a piece to be moved around. I can’t count him as part of future starters until he starts getting playing time against lefties even if he struggles.

I still think McGonigle is limited at Short and would be better served to be at 2B long term due to arm strength. I still think that Rainer is still the best option with Peck also factoring in as a superior defensive option that would move Rainer to 3rd.

This is frustrating for me. He was decent against lefties as a rookie. There is no reason to not try and develop him.
