  1. I have accepted how bad Trump is, but again that's not what my post was about. Trump says everything you shouldn't say out loud. 1) because even if it is right, you don't say it publicly and 2) because 99% of the time it's not only not right, it's so far out in left field it's mind boggling how he became president. But back to the actions, are you telling me that if Biden or Kamala was president right now, that Netanyahu would not be doing the same thing in Gaza? Absolutely no chance because Biden/Kamala would have stopped him? You really believe that? Again, maybe it would be somewhat different. I'm not saying there would be no difference, but Netanyahu was dead set on doing this after the October 7 attacks and there is plenty of evidence to show that dems may have publicly said more appropriate comments, but not much evidence that they would have done anything of substance to stop this genocide.
  2. I may be wrong, but i'm not certainly wrong. The public talk would have been different, Trump talks about beautiful hotels on the shores of Gaza. Of course Biden and Harris wouldn't have said that, but i'm talking actions. My guess is behind the scenes they are telling Netanyahu he has to stop, in front of the cameras though, they may not be saying the stupid stuff Trump says, but they aren't demanding he stop either. You mention Iran, here is Schumer's comments: https://www.democrats.senate.gov/newsroom/press-releases/leader-schumer-statement-on-israels-strikes-on-iran Jeffries on Gaza: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxY_yw3eFFY He calls for a 2 state solution at the end, but the rest is just saying we need a cease fire, which both sides have at times agreed to and both sides have violated. It's nice to say, i'll give you that. Schumer flat out gives support to Israel, no questions asked. These are your parties current leaders and they have mostly stayed silent and when they have been forced to answer, they either publicly support Israel or give general info that doesn't point to anything specific. Arguably the biggest name in the democratic party right now is Zohran Mamdani and he can't even secure an endorsement from anyone in democratic leadership, let alone Jeffries who represents the same people that overwhelmingly voted for Mamdani in the run-up election. Gee, I wonder why.
  3. I certainly could be wrong, but my guess is there is no difference in policy with Israel right now if Harris is president. Democrats would have been better at keeping what's going on in Gaza under wraps better so there wouldn't be as much outrage. Behind the lines, Harris and her administration probably would have been a little more stern with Israel, but that's about it.
  4. I listened to 89x yesterday. Heard a couple of songs i've never heard before along with your standard 'classic' alternative music from the 90's. I don't listen to radio much anymore, but had to give a listen after I heard it was back.
  5. So I will say the left only focusing on guns will not solve the issue, nor will it be solved by the right focusing on mental health (especially with the fact they refuse to put in money towards doing anything about it, only complain about it). IMO, I do think a source of the issue relates more towards mental health then guns. Seems like most new big podcasts are about a 'mental health journey', but it seems like our youth look at improving mental health means avoiding issues that are mentally tough on you. Just like you work your body out to make you physically healthy, you need to do things that are mentally hard to help make you mentally healthy. I know I'm going to sound like an old man, but mostly I just feel like most kids are 'weak'. Not sure if I can explain it better, but I see to my son and his friends seem almost helpless over rather mundane issues. I'm sure I was part of the problem. I don't want to think I was a helicopter parent and when I compare to some of my kids friends parents, we weren't, but compared to my parents, we definitely were. Is it parenting, is it electronics, IDK. Above my pay grade, but definitely agree with republicans that point to this being the source of the issue. But even if we work to fix that source, it will take many years. In the meantime, just let more mass shootings happen? How we can't get on board with some common sense gun laws is absolutely wild to me. One weird/potentially scary thought, if someone gets into Trumps ear with the following (non factual) statement of 'you know, Soros wouldn't be able to hold our cities in fear if only we had some restrictions to keep these crazy liberals from getting guns and terrorizing our cities' he would probably come out in favor of gun laws and the GOP would probably just follow him. Obviously I have no faith any laws he passed would be done with competence, but I could see his fascist base embrace it as a means to work towards King Trump.
  6. Most AG's can get a ham sandwich indicted, but Pam Bondi can't even get a person throwing one at cops indicted.
  7. Evidence #273 that Trump is a Democrat.
  8. I hope independents are stepping back and paying attention. Additionally there have been republicans that have openly talked off the record that they go along with Trump just so they can stop him if something serious happens. The republicans in Congress are much more aligned with Bolton. I’m not going to hold my breath though.
  9. In a way, I kind of want that to happen. He continuously throws out allegations at Obama and calls him a crook which only enforces it to his side. If he arrests Obama, they need to present their findings in a public forum. If you have nothing, it will be made clear. Plus arresting Obama sets a precedence that Trump doesn't want, he doesn't want the courts to have any authority over a former President. So ultimately, Trump will not have him arrested, IMO. But I hope someone will goad him into it.
  10. The right is cheering it on. It was either Bondi or Patel that posted 'no one is above the law' in regards to it. Umm, seems to be at least 1 person above the law.
  11. All my co-workers in the Ashburn area always brag about Wegmans.
  12. Absolutely! When I buy gas I just utter under my breath 'fake news' as I look at the pump, knowing full well that Marathon just wants to humiliate Trump and they are obviously only going to charge me 1.99/gallon.
  13. Only argument I have is that I would substitute 'good' with 'great'. Additionally, it hasn't only helped ensure police follow the laws, but helped police that do follow the laws from getting unwarranted complaints as well. I have a family member that is a Wayne County Sheriff and complaints have dropped tremendously since they were required to wear them. For the majority of complaints he still follows up, he'll show the body cam to the prisoner if it's been deemed not credible and the response most of the time is they just hoped the sheriff had it turned off so they could get in trouble for that. Probably the only group against them now would be defense attorneys.
  14. I rewatched it and there were blue and red lights. I can't say what the laws are there, but in Michigan you can't have the blue. Initially I didn't catch that, I was focusing on the interaction. I'm guessing the guy is going to be tried with obstruction and assault on an officer. That said, I can understand the guy resisting initially, seemed like he had no clue they were law enforcement at first. As for the assault, the two guys had him on the ground, seems like you're typical over policing scrum which led to the one officer getting hurt. Legally, it doesn't appear they did anything wrong. But I can't believe you don't show pause when you see action like that on a street because the guy hasn't taken care of some traffic tickets (and is on a moped, not a semi).
  15. There have been a few well known cases of folks with legal status deported in error. As far as citizens, that one child with cancer enrages me, but you have an argument that it was the parents deported. Note, they claim they wanted the kids to stay, which they would have a right to do. I don't know more details on that though. Definitely tons of US citizens detained. There was that dad with DACA status that was legally here that made the mistake of visiting family in Mexico and he got deported back before finally getting it cleared and getting back home a few weeks later. Heck, might have been under Obama there was a citizen that was detained for almost four years before ICE finally stopped trying to find a way to deport him (if I remember correctly, he immigrated from somewhere with his mom and later became a citizen, but they were arguing his mom didn't have rights to bring him here, so he technically shouldn't be a citizen). So if that can happen pre-Trump, with administrations that were pro-immigrant, I'm guessing the rhetoric of a non-lucid old man that cheats at golf and spouts that he wants to find a way to deport actual citizens might be the reason there is a lot of concern.
  16. I'm on your side that they are illegal immigrants. There is a full spectrum on this board on how to deal with that, ranging from invite more to come to deport them without even bothering to let anyone know we scooped them off of the street. Speaking on behalf of others, without their consent, my guess is most are along the lines that they are already here, mostly good people trying to make a living, and unless they do something additional to warrant deportation, give them a path to citizenship. Where the push back from most of the people on this board, including myself, is how far the pendulum swung from an administration that seemingly invited folks to come in (I know some will reject that statement) to the current administration that is fine diverting money away from tracking down tax cheats, white collar criminals, and even many of your basic governmental services in order to find people that are trying to become citizens and abiding by the rest of our laws. Additionally, when we see legitimate stories about actual citizens or others here legally that are detained (even deported) for days, even weeks at a time, it doesn't make me feel confident that this administration cares about making mistakes as long as the deportation numbers look 'bigly'. If you lean towards the conservative side and hated voting for Kamala (just like me), I would expect you to hate the idea of the government detaining/deporting citizens because of their incompetence.
  17. I have no issue not citing sources, especially if you think it's common knowledge. But getting mad because someone requests a source and telling them to find it?!?! As Biden would say "C'mon man".
  18. Galaga, you're not entirely wrong that many of the reports have been blown out of proportion, but if the base of your party makes fun of 'face diapers', but celebrate and defend when their law enforcement is wearing masks, maybe you should reassess your position.
  19. Gavin has been hilarious all week. I hate the idea off what he’s calling for in California to combat Texas, but it’s clear his gloves are off and he’s willing to fight any style Trump wants to go with.
  20. Rumors are he had to OK any decision with Bessent and he didn't like it. Bessent was the one that put him in the position as well. Guessing Bessent just wanted a puppet.
  21. https://archive.ph/YrFmr#selection-1705.137-1725.287 I know I'm in the minority, but I think it would be good for Ukraine to stop this war, even if they lose land. They just upped their conscription age to 60 years old. I'm not even 50 and what a joke it would be to put me in combat. Still, it's too late and Trump can't force Zelensky to abide by a deal he makes with Putin. Guess you could argue that our mineral rights deal would help protect, but that's overhyped crap from Trump already. He probably believes those numbers, but once he finds out its not panning out like he was told, there is nothing preventing Trump from tossing it away. Still, it might give Zelensky and Europe a few years to regroup.
  22. The other part Todd mentioned, and I do agree with, is ultimately everyone is looking for the next big scandal that can bring Trump down and he doesn't think even this Epstein stuff can do that, which I'm all for keeping up the heat on him over Epstein, but probably think Todd is right. What he did say and this was right as he was asked about BLS and how can we trust any numbers out of them, is that it really doesn't matter what the numbers say for your average person. Time has proven again and again that if your average American has trouble paying bills, it doesn't matter what the stock market or economist are saying, they will revolt.
  23. Looks like Southpark is going to find a way to get Trump's tiny weiner in every episode! How they portrayed Vance was fantastic.
  24. I spend most of my day trying to find a way to clean up data and you're not wrong (although I would offer pause on the less accurate data), even small changes to our process requires various verification checks making it a tedious project. But overall, compared to reports that were auto generated once a day and then had to be processed by a person and moved to another system, just for another report to be generated for the next day, so on and so forth... it's been worth it to my company to find better ways to get data to a useful endpoint quicker. In doing this, we've found different ways to spot patterns in near real time, instead of finding the patterns in hindsight when upper mgmt wants to know what changed a couple of months down the line and we've had to go back and do an analysis. Overall my point on this BLS stuff though is Trump didn't like the numbers and used the revisions as 'proof' the numbers were cooked. Yet his own demands to cut federal spending appears to have shut down efforts by BLS to improve on their ability to give more timely and accurate reports to the administration.
  25. They were giving examples of the steps that data goes through from the Survey until it hits the Jobs report or the revision and how it could be automated to provide real time data right to the BLS commish.
