  1. I went down the Tork for Baty path a week ago, thinking that the Mets might want a cheap replacement if Alonzo signs elsewhere. Thought I was on to something until I learned Baty hits LH, just like Jung. Probably not a fit.
  2. Do we think the Tigers made the call on Keith at 1B without somebody seeing him there this winter? I hope not.
  3. I believe it’s still true that none of the Lions head coaches over the last 40 years ever received another head coaching job in the NFL. Basically been a coaching graveyard.
  4. It was hypothetical, based on Bregman being signed.
  5. Perez might be odd man out, if this is the bench: Dingler McKinstry Baez Vierling Ibanez Actually, Ibanez might find himself on the outs with Torres and Bregman’s RH bats at 2B and 3B
  6. Torres Keith Greene Bregman Carpenter/Vierling Torkelson Meadows Rogers Sweeney/Baez
  7. MLB Trade Rumors poll that was referenced
  8. As long as Kim isn’t blocking anyone, I’m down. But he’s mostly useful for next season, and you’re probably only getting half. I’d just assume Jung and Vierling platoon at 3B
  9. Thanks for posting this.
  10. Sweeney will get the majority of playing time at SS, and he looked very solid there. Paired up with either Baez or Kreidler, and SS D will be fine.
  11. I don’t think the Tigers would sign Kim for SS—they are trying to solve for 3B. I don’t like his offensive production there. Perhaps Plan B if they don’t sign Bregman?
  12. Well, this didn’t age well. Apologies to everyone.

  14. The Swifties apparently stuffed the ballot box.
  15. I don’t understand how you can find fault in him. If anything, he should be praised for holding it together with a bunch of guys who were on practice squads a few weeks back.
  16. Agree. That’s why I added “matters.” For a guy like Luis Severino, for example, he was willing to sign with the A’s to play in a minor league park for the duration of his contract. Winning/environment is lower on his consideration list. My point was to address Chas’ contention that Boston was more attractive for Bregman. I agree that their ballpark is more favorable, but if Bregman, who is already financially stable for life, wants to go to a team who is in best position to contend during his contract, Detroit is the better option.
  17. If winning matters, the Tigers are significantly more attractive than the Red Sox, who have to look up at the Yankees and Orioles and will likely for some time. All Bregman needs to remember was the feeling being swept by a Tiger team of rookies in the playoffs. And an organization that is arguably top 3 in prospects that should only get better and be able to sustain that success.
  18. I don’t see how Sasaki is coming here after yesterday’s report. He allegedly met with 7 teams before heading back to Japan and we weren’t one of them. And if we have $3-4M committed to Rodriguez, it doesn’t seem to matter how big our pool is. Might be time to pivot and send some of our pool money to a team trying to put together a compelling offer for Sasaki, getting some decent prospects in return. Similar to what we did last year with SD.
  19. That’s become fairly standard, regardless of destination.

  22. Bleacher Report has our system at #3. I’d put Lee on the list over Hall, but this has the usual suspects.
