Please, please, please don’t squander this Skubal start. Tigers offense needs to make the next 1-2 innings happen, because we likely lose the battle of the bullpen.

In hindsight, given our offensive output from yesterday, I’m glad we didn’t waste a Skubal effort. The team looked a bit tight yesterday—hopefully with the first game under their belt and Matty Boyd pitching, we’ll see a much better outcome.

Have to jump on Boyd. Trying to scratch out runs in the 6-9 innings is going to be a huge challenge against the Guardians.

Do they owe you an explanation? It’s pretty clear they are prioritizing his health and effectiveness. He’s never come close to throwing this many innings (and counting). One guy can’t carry this team. The plan that got us this far has to continue to work. But more importantly, our young lineup needs to figure out their bullpen, which is full of Tyler Holton’s. We’re playing the best team we’ve faced in the last 40 games or so. If this ends up being the end of the road, it will not tarnish the season for me.

Yes, not pitching Skubal was the reason we lost last might. It has nothing to do with being shut out.
