  1. Excellent post. What we haven’t seen yet is Harris moving prospects for established players. Makes sense given where we’ve been, but this offseason we probably should be buyers and have a lot of organizational depth and overlap at some positions. Will he be willing to move prospects? DD put on a MasterClass doing that, but we don’t know what Harris’ philosophy is.
  2. Any idea why High A has finished their season earlier, or is it that Erie and Lakeland are playing in their respective playoffs?
  3. Hard to say what he’ll be. Has the pedigree (1st rounder) and seems to hit RH well. The only point is that he looks good so far and it would be ridiculous to write him off. I doubt he’s our long term solution, but can be a platoon stopgap option with Baez until McGonigle or Rainer is ready.
  4. Post of the year
  5. Colt Keith’s first 57 ABs in MLB: .210 BA, 0 HR, 4 RBI Trey Sweeney first 56 ABs: .232 BA, 3 HR, 9 RBI Glad we didn’t cut bait on Colt too soon.
  6. Why is Sweeney a bench player after about 50 AB’s in MLB? I think he’s in the SS mix and a viable bridge to McGonigle and Rainer. Also, not convinced that Malloy doesn’t have a future role.
  7. Fetter can fix him
  8. I want Soto. And, no, I’m not trying to be funny. Can the Yankees really pay him what it will take, along with all of their other massive contracts? This is the one time we should open up our wallet and pay him whatever it will take. He’s still very young, athletic and a generational talent. Figure it out, Scott.
  9. They did? Not to be negative or cynical, but I think there are way more questions than answers. Greene, Carpenter and Keith have earned their spots in the lineup, but I don’t think we have enough sample with anyone else, except Tork, who remains a big question mark. Meadows has been encouraging, and probably can be counted on, but not a sure thing. For the staff, I’d go with Skubal, Olson (if healthy), Holton and Foley. Again, some encouraging things with Hurter and Madden, but again, such a small sample. I think next year will be more telling.
  10. Losing might be the best outcome. This team might need to be humbled or grounded a bit. Going back to the Championship game, we’ve played 6 quarters of disappointing ball. We may lose a few battles along the way, but the goal remains to win the war.
  11. I doubt we’ll see big turnouts. Kids are back in school, Bally is back on Xfinity. I can see the remaining Skubal home starts getting a bump. If we make a dent in the standings next week, interest should pick up some.
  12. Can someone explain to me in terms that a 10 year old would understand why Hurter, Madden, Sammons, Hanifee and Montero have all exceeded their performance in AAA? Similar to Olson and Gipson-Long previously?
  13. Nice little day—28th wedding anniversary (celebrating at the Chicago restaurant where I proposed many years ago). Tigers win, Sparty wins, Michigan loses. Couldn’t draw it up any better.
  14. We’re actually playing better (W-L wise) since those moves were made, with young replacements who are now getting valuable playing time. At this point, I’d rather have Liranzo in the org than a couple more months of Flaherty.
  15. A lot of overreactions to Mize and Tork. Mize can be an important contributor to our rotation for years. Probably not an ace, but after TJ and back surgeries, I’ll be happy with a #3/4 guy if that’s what he settles into. There is no reason to cut bait with Tork. He’s controllable for many seasons. I’d probably source a contingency option this offseason, but I definitely wouldn’t cut him or sell low. I do think we need to get a major league bat to provide some protection for Tork, Greene, etc. And not a Canha-type.
  16. This is a .500 team. As such, we don’t have a particularly deep or proficient bullpen. The home team has the advantage in these extra innings games—I was happy we went as deep as we did. If there is a criticism, it’s that we don’t have a playoff-caliber roster. I can’t let a game like last night ruin my outlook on this season. We’re making great progress with a very young, inexperienced squad. Enjoy the ride.
  17. Can’t feel good about this. We have to ride him now.
  18. The cool thing is that all four runs were scored by rookies.
  19. Hard not to like Parker. Kind of a poor man’s Gibby. Lot of power and speed and make things happen. Doesn’t hit as well as Kirk did, but fields much better. Also, seems much more approachable. ****, they’re nothing alike. Please disregard this post.
  20. I like Max Clark. Baseball needs guys like him. Gonna be our lead off hitter for years. You guys just hate him, cause you ain’t him.
  21. Bert—quit trying to make fetch happen, you little skeez
  22. 2nd night in a row that AJ left a young guy in too long.
  23. They need to pay Juan Soto. He’s the best fit for this club—same age range and Cabrera-esque. Of course it will require us to outbid everyone, except maybe the White Sox.
  24. On pace for 36 wins.
