  1. I haven’t seen enough sample from McKinstry or Carpenter to count on them at this point. We should know better by the end of the season.
  2. I really don’t think Ilitch told Harris he couldn’t spend. I think that was Scott’s decision. Chafin opted out—who knows how happy he was in Detroit?
  3. I don’t think enough is being reported about the A’s this season. They are on pace for a bout a 30-win season without any hope of much improvement the rest of the way. They could obliterate the all-time futility MLB record.
  4. I watched videos of John Holmes—didn’t really help.
  5. The only negative was that ERod didn’t get the much deserved W
  6. One game out of first after Berrios shut out his old mates.
  7. So, we’re controlling the strike zone on both sides? This has to be the biggest reason for our improvement this season. We haven’t had a legit, high OBP lead off hitter in a longtime.
  8. I’d like to see these infield configurations moving forward: Vs RH: 1B Tork, 2B Maton, SS Baez, 3B McKistrey vs LH: 1B Tork, 2B Baez, SS Short, 3B McKistrey Can someone please convey this to Hinch for me?
  9. I didn’t want him DFA’d, but I admit that I didn’t expect him to be counted on for much and was likely to be insurance at Toledo. He has exceeded my expectations and I’m glad to be wrong (again).
  10. You would have to pay the balance of Schoop’s salary and expect very little in return. Even in 2021 when he was playing well, we couldn’t move him. Now his range is an issue, without the shift, and he doesn’t walk, hit or hit with power. Besides those flaws, he should be in high demand.
  11. Right. There is none, and will not be, any trade interest in Schoop.
  12. I think more power is coming, along with improved walk rates. I’m also a lot more optimistic about Tork than I was two months ago. He’s capable of .240/20/75, which would be solid development from last year. Of course, would be depressing if that ended up being his ceiling.
  13. Is this a Trayce Thompson/LA Dodgers situation like last year? If so, let’s enjoy it while we can.
  14. Nobody cares that Hopkins was seen at DTW today?
  15. Glad we can rest Lange for another game.
  16. Short is a poor man’s Brandon Inge. Very good D, some pop and swing and miss. Also allegedly an excellent golfer like Brandon.
  17. I didn’t know he was capable of a heads first slide anymore.
  18. Except that Lipcius is a real prospect who hasn’t yet proven he can’t hit in the majors. Unlike the other two.
  19. I’m doing that with Ibanez so he’ll get a hit. Will gladly eat that crow.
  20. I’d rather see Lipcius at this point. Very strong year at AAA last season, and after a slow start, has hit well lately. Can take a walk and has versatility. Can’t be any worse than Ibanez.
  21. I can’t believe that Joe Kelly can throw 99. What is he, 45? I think of him like Jamie Moyer—won’t go away.
  22. McKinstry looks like the kind of guy you’d find parked along Woodward Avenue, with the hood of his hot rod up. And proud as a peacock.
  23. I think we’ve learned that when it comes to guys like Nevin and Ibanez, the jump from AAA to the bigs is huge.
