Baez is definitely someone Harris would never sign so it will be interesting to see if Baez adjusts to Harris. I liked how Harris gave Javey high praise when that was pointed out so let's hope we can get a .280/.330/480 hitter with half the errors next year plus the added spectacular plays. That would equal El Mago. -
Tigers Hire Scott Harris as President of Baseball Operations

Well they say you can never have enough pitching so who knows ? I don't think Mize or Skubal can be counted on at all next year. maybe Skubull but with our luck doubtful. Turnbull will be pitching the first year after TJ and everyone not named Verlander often struggles so he's not solid. Everyone after Manning ( and he was shut down for arm trouble this year) and Erod ( who disappeared) is either a second year guy ( see Badoo.Akil) or rookie so I would guess they will add starting pitcher(s) at reasonable cost or via trade. -
Tigers Hire Scott Harris as President of Baseball Operations

I don’t think Harris needs a year to evaluate the current roster and minor leagues. I am sure he has an evaluation in place of all major league and minor league players at all times. That’s why he’s here and a rising star in the game. A person that sharp probably had a good idea how to proceed right now. I expect a large turnover in personnel this off season. -

I like the hire. Not an internal promotion and not associated with AJ Hinch or Houston. No obligations to the past or any current employee. Anxious to hear him speak. Going to be a fun off season. -

Agreed that Hinch "seems" like a very player friendly manager ala the NBA which might explain his reluctance to shut down harder on the Houston situation when there. However the trend is naturally going to be that way as salaries rise for players so does their influence. I'm sure owners don't want the manager "upsetting" their big investment also so it's a tough spot. I guess that's why Baseball managers main job is handling personnel rather than in game management. -

Green, Tork and Baez trending positive over the past small amounts of time. If they are good next year that’s a big boost. -

ok move the centerfield wall in please. 10 feet. -
I also don’t think Carlos Correa is coming to Detroit although if the Twins don’t make the playoffs his “intangibles “ will suffer and his expectation might not be met by the market so a similar deal like the Twins got might be in the offering.

I have no idea what will transpire this off season but I am perfectly fine with Baez and Schoop up the middle. Baez had a bad stretch but seems better and with Tork even more so. Despite his errors he has made many many good plays and the main goal of turning all makable double plays has been achieved and that is huge. Schoop should hit better and his defense it top shelf. Finding two solid bats, OF and 3B and one stud starter might suffice if Tork and Greene settle in and Meadows and Baez perform close to normal levels. But that is still assuming quite bit.

Funny thing is Baltimore moved the fences out and their offense improved. Now their hitters can slug but I think our few good players played poorly and most of the others are just bad or not quite ready for prime time. Having said that some adjustments are warranted. Triples alley is cool but 400 foot flay balls should be home runs. -

Also agree and as you have also said repeatedly Norris can not pitch in relief. So duh switch them ?? -

If nothing else it will be interesting to see what the new GM does. He won’t be connected to these players and therefore objectively evaluating them. Doing so should result in significant change in personnel. -

Is the absence Miggy helping the offense ? -

I once said on this site Wentz would be better than Manning. You and others correctly said I was wrong but it sure would be nice if he can make it all the same. Lots of good pitches tonight including the long forgotten curveball -
The only part of the shift I didn't like was the fourth outfielder/rover. made it feel too much like softball. I wish the change was limited to that. Four guys anywhere on the dirt only adds more strategy to the game which is good.

I believe its 4.6 inches less. So maybe the running game is enhanced and also the players have an easier time of staying on the base hopefully reducing the player is safe but over slid the bag out call.
-
Being bold would be bringing Verlander back ( two years at stupid $). Him and a solid new GM who can shift through the chaff, add around the edges with one years bats and build toward a 2024 resurgence. Thats buzz.

Yes indeed and a walk plus could have had two more but chased out of the zone a bit but all at bats competitive
