  1. His extension is looking real good for him right about now.
  2. If Jeimer never straightens out this year is he looking at being DFA ?
  3. Or is he getting better coaching or did we ever really give him a role to settle into ? I don't think so.
  4. So beating a dead horse again we have Austin at 7 mil and Candy at 5 mil (guessing both) totaling 12 mil instead of Isaac at 800K and say Reyes/Cameron at 800K instead of 1.6 mil. Again I was not comfortable with the Meadows trade given Tamba Bay smarts and this is big time hindsight however I don't think Tampa, Cleveland , SF etc like GMs would be in this position. It's just poor value evaluation for the talent. Now Candy had a real good last year and so did Meadows but the common thread of both is the escalation of their pay is above the value of the skill set they provide and getting worse. Good GM's avoid this which is the only way to win without breaking the bank and Al Avila can not do that in my estimation.
  5. Isaac Parades with 3 homers tonight. Al got schooled.
  6. If Badoo can improve in the field and commit to OBP rather than homers he can be the lead off hitter we need with Greene in the two hole. Hill is four A and Cameron might be fourth outfielder like Reyes. Just my opinion.
  7. 1. Keith 2. Kreidler 3. Campos 4. Santana 5. Segura
  8. Maybe the entire team has covid
  9. No need to be sorry it’s not totally clear. Today’s Detroit News talks about poor drafting and development as main problem for many years and the last paragraph says, paraphrasing, at long last no matter how uncomfortable it’s a simple matter for Tiger ownership to recognize. Sorry I don’t know how to copy and paste on my phone.
  10. It’s in his last sentence or so. A bit discreet but there.
  11. Our buddy Lynn Henning calling for Al Avilia being fired in today’s paper is hopefully the beginning of the media onslaught.
  12. Let's be honest when we only had a one run lead going into the ninth and Soto walked the first guy and then wanted the mound fixed you knew it was over. And while they were fixing the mound we had nobody warming in the pen. That was surprising to me. Sometimes supporting your players is preventing them from self destruction. So three scoops of bad today for me..offense-Soto-Hinch
  13. So maybe he will surpass his brother 😎
  14. I suppose your right but I was just making an exaggerated point 😊
  15. I think Correa’s goal of 345 million was not available because Linder has not provided 341 million value on his deal plus its Cohen who paid it and nobody can match his horsepower
  16. I also agree that performance at the MLB level is the only true gage of success for draftees. Skubal is a success who IIRC it was Boras who called the Tigers during the draft and told them to draft him and so far Tork is not. But I think he will.
  17. If the Twins win the division and Correa stays healthy then Chas is correct he will get his payday for sure. Could you imagine Boras sitting with an owner telling him about all the extra profit from a playoff team and Carlos the Great just elevated the Twins to new heights. Hell the Twins might give him 10/350
  18. I think the $275 offer was pure PR by the Tigers as everybody knew it would not work. Maybe prayer/wish and PR. Cashmen in NY may have made the best play getting Falefa and Trevino for SS and Catcher and saving tons of money. But then he had Judge etc to bomb the ball. But it is an example of being creative which Al is not. Al is draft pitchers, pay for reputation and shop the garage sales. Another good example was the Brewers trading for Adames. But again I thought Al had a solid off season and Echo84 has list of players that "might" pan out and didn't include Santana and Segura which is why I think Al took Jobe over Mayer unfortunately. But we are all tired of losing. And as Haase said "having our ass handed to us daily " so we are mad. And calling for patience after 7 years of embarrassment might be the correct call but its a big Fing ask after so long so yea I would remove Al Avila without a second thought. But we all know it's not going to happen. He is Mikie's comfy blanket.
  19. I don't think anyone could have imagined how bad this year has gone. I also thought Al Avila had a successful off season after underperforming , sometimes terribly, prior. So while I can't blame Al for this prior off season the totality of his work shows poor judgment in talent evaluation which is the core of his job. So he has to go and if you don't trust him drafting then he needs to go now. Some other poster in some other thread, sorry I do not recall who, suggested "promoting" Al to some "position' to maintain fluidity with the recent hires while bringing someone else in for the GM job. I support this action. I would keep AJ ,unless he has truly "lost" the team which is a concern, and give Fretter a raise tomorrow to keep him from UofM. I would look at low to mid budget teams like the Rays, Indians, Giants etc for a bright GM who can properly value talent. What's the associated $$ for that players skill set. That's what the Rays did in the Meadows for Paredas/ draft pick deal. They knew the $ value for Meadows depreciating defense and power, especially without the lively ball that most knew was coming, was lower than his salary and future earnings. Al Avila did not and never ever will. As others have said he is a scout and probably a damn good one. He found Reyes, Badoo and Garcia in the Rude 5 dumpster file. Serviceable players. But he doesn't know the percentages are low for High school pitchers in the draft so he took Jobe instead of Mayer because "pitching is 90 % of the game" stereotype simplicity entrenched in his thinking. Evolve or die. We are dying and need to evolve in our player procurement process and development. As for Correa we were never getting him with Al because Al does not have the patience to play the long game in free agency and Correa was always going to be a long game gamble. Minnesota got lucky when the dance chairs ran out which is where 275 might have worked. Not out of the gate. But again I do believe Baez is much much better than he has shown and will be much much better.
  20. Don’t forget the loss of a draft pick which, since we are still rebuilding, is now important again, the age differences and years of control and oh ya the Huge premium we are paying.
  21. I think we got played by Tampa Bay on the Meadows deal. Hope I am wrong but he looks like a DH who lost his power.
  22. He has been on for an hour ? Crazy and so unprofessional. Is it a talk show or a baseball game ?
  23. Disappointment leads to anger and both are ok for the Tiger organization but now we are reaching apathy and at that point fans just give up and then the Tigers organization have real problems. That's were I am not sure about most fans but it's just painful and BORING to watch this team.
  24. 3 runs seems like a huge mountain to climb.....
  25. Keith Kriedler and Greene. Top 3 hopes and all hurt. 2022 Tigers if you suck you play and if your good your hurt.
