  1. Al "gave" his job for that among other things.....
  2. I remember reading Harris saying after moving Jimenez for Mallory that "trades are hard" which I interpreted as all GM's are griping their prospects tight and valuing the same things as Harris does. That plus as Chasfh noted about Harris being caught by surprise by the high cost of free agency in both dollars and years has led to some missed opportunities resulting in Harris lamenting about commiting innings and AB's to youngsters because thats all that's left to do. He has my full support but I was hopeful of adding one "foundation" or at least solid piece this off season and was guessing maybe Contreras who can catch, play some left field and oh yes HIT. Maybe Mallory will prove to be that addition or something might still happen. I think it's better to play the youngsters rather than sign older retreads for 1 to 2 years but I would like to see a balance as G2 and RatkoVara stated. We could always just bench, trade or release these short term guys "if" a youngster proved superior and yet have the parachute if they don't.
  3. We're all bored so given the 22 players on your list what's the over / under for the number actually on the team say July 1 2025 ? I will start with 8
  4. Great list. Send it to Scot but observe the Do Not Disturb sign on the hotel door.
  5. Can't believe Tucker got 2 years. It's been a crazy free agency. Madrigal would be worth a shot. Pretty clear now that Harris only wants to add position players with potential multiple years of control or, as pointed out on the board, no position players want to rebuild their resume hitting in Comerica.
  6. Wow Mets not shy. Time to mine their third stackers in the minors.
  7. Harris did promise some of those didn't he or is Mallory in that category.
  8. Is Mauricio a possible get if we take McCann and trade back Soto ?
  9. Then perhaps not. I remember reading he said he knew what to do in the off season and major changes can’t take place during the season. Or something similar. But is that true ?
  10. You may be on to something. Good point.
  11. I was all for letting Candy go and fully support Harris decision but it is fair to say that he may have under estimated the robustness of this market and might not be so sure today as he was then.
  12. I doubt there is much of a market for Soto. If we can get his walks down and find his slider then we can trade him for someone of value. I know captain obvious here but he lost 11 games last year and it was razor thin from being almost 20. Lots of his saves seemed to be like a Hitchcock thriller. Or maybe it just seems that way. Yet a big lefty throwing 100 does seem tempting though 100 isn’t so rare these days. If there is another deal similar to the Jimenez trade then I wouldn’t hesitate to make it.
  13. I think Ilitch will spend within reason but he wants results. Watching Baez under perform, Schoop crash landing, EROD quitting on the team and Meadows essentially not playing may have led to Chris not trusting Al with his money and therefore his resulting DFA. The question is just how big of a market is Detroit ? Yes the attendance is good when the team plays well and actually quite good watching losing teams as well. But Detroit is not a robust economy so I guess the main question is how profitable are the Tigers radio and TV rights ? Isn't that the largest source of income or am I mistaken ?
  14. I actually thought we might sign Benintendi even though he bats lefty. High walks and low strikeouts plus solid defender and only 28 and "affordable". I thought that was the "blueprint". So looks like I am wrong about us adding one "foundation" player this off season. Most everyone on the board was correct that this will be a year of evaluation. I guess thats prudent but we only have one real two way outfielder in Greene and Benintendi could handle our large left field really well and hit one or two in the lineup. Maybe I over valued him.
  15. Home runs ? We got that covered with Tork..well maybe..wait..Meadows..thats right Meadows..what ?? he ..what ?? didn't hit any last year ? Get out ! Well somebody will..oh bloody heck I forgot about the BIG man.....
  16. good signing. He pitched pretty well and had couple bad starts right before we went on the disabled list that blew up his numbers pretty bad. Slot him in aa 5th starter and he will be as good as most staffs fifth guy.
  17. The free agent market next year stinks apart from Ohtani who will be a Met for 500 million over 12 years. . He will speed past 400.
  18. I agree with this. Hopefully Harris is targeting this right now. Our shelves internally are empty apart from Kriedler who can field but unknown if he can hit.
  19. Keep Baez and wait for the turnaround that is coming in 2023. After which he will opt out and if he doesn't the 4/93 remaining will be reasonable. Careful what you wish for. If one War equals 8 million then he only needs to add one war of production to last years numbers to meet his salary.Seems likely to me and he is an exciting player. I'm looking forward to watching him play in 2023 warts and all
  20. I think all these big contracts given out to shortstops Turner and Bogarts with Correa and Swanson to follow combined with the poor free agent class next off season assured Baez will opt out if he has even just a decent season.
  21. Very good day for Scott Harris and the Detroit Tigers. Getting a top ten prospect for one year of Jimenez ( a year we will not be contending) plus a potential starter in the rule 5 and a depth Lefty is solid.
  22. I will guess Jayden Murray because..why not ?
  23. Heyman works for the agents.
  24. ya I read it's the wife's family and his desire to play with his buddy Harper. To each his own but wow very few would have made that choice.
  25. I fear you are correct. I still think we will add one foundation piece but after reading what Harris said yesterday it might indeed be a slower climb.
