  1. they can beat atlanta and/or washington. the packers at home is a toss up. they should be an underdog against any other nfc playoff team. if we play atlanta we have a shot. that's about it. they desperately need that bye. beating minny next week is an imperative if they want to win. i dont like them on the road againdt any team other than atlanta.
  2. let us all keep rooting for the bulls to win and thus lose their first round pick this year and throw their "rebuild" rightfully in the garbage where it belongs. they desperately WANT to lose to keep that pick (traded in the derozan deal that brought them a couple of play in game losses and one playoff win over milwaukee who then woke up and won 3 straight) but they cant even do that right. the pistons are a garbage franchise but at least they have cade. the bulls are the epitome of tom gores/van gundy era pistons: desperate for that 8th seed. unfortunately, the league wants the bulls to succeed so they get lottery luck (hello bulls going from #9 to #1 to get derrick rose) unlike detroit, who the league could give two squirts of piss about.
  3. you still think this is a super bowl caliber team?
  4. you cant expect them to compete when half the defense WASNT EVEN IN THE LEAGUE a week ago. the fact that they are 13-2 is a testament to the coaching staff and the offense. the defense isnt an nfl caliber team. its a dam shame that it has to end this way, but no team can survive what the lions have gone through this year.
  5. they can throw the lawyers at it to delay it, but i think its inevitable. and the more the boise state's, smu's, and arizona state's make the playoff and the alabama's and south carolina's dont, it just gives the sec/big ten more inventive to leave. they ALONE drive the tv contracts and the money. all the big tv games are sec/big ten with the occasional notre dame or a hyped story like deion at colorado. that's it. nobody pays to watch byu or uconn unless they are playing michigan or alabama. its tough foe those schools, but its a money game now. the real question is whether northwestern or purdue or vanderbilt or mississippi state survive the reckoning that's coming. rutgers? why? ohio state, penn state, michigan, michigan state, nebraska, wisconsin, iowa, notre dame, indiana, minnesota, usc, ucla, oregon, washington, maryland, virginia, boston college, syracuse alabama, georgia, florida, florida state, miami, north carolina, south carolina, tennessee, texas, oklahoma, auburn, ole miss, clemson, miami, texas a & m, kentucky, arkansas, missouri 18 team conferences divided into 4 or 5 divisions. winner plays the "super bowl"!
  6. they cant stop anyone. its worse than last year, but close. injuries have crippled this team. its a ****ing shame.
  7. lol. bring him here. ivey, duren and a future first or two.
  8. a thousand times this. that's what he was SUPPOSED to be. that's why a 6'6 guy gets drafted #9. and he's played like it for MAYBE 20 games two years ago. since then, nothing. he's just an ordinary nhl player but tall. not physical. not imposing. nothing. he must be a really nice guy because none of the beat writers ever call him out. not even bultman (the best of the bunch).
  9. what's the legal argument against it if they want to leave the ncaa and form their own entity? monopoly? how? all ghe other leagues can still play. just no one will watch.
  10. the big ten and sec have the leverage of "we will leave and form our own league." i dont think they are at the point of USING that type of leverage, but that is the ultimate leverage.
  11. we should hire someone from their staff!
  12. that actually makes sense. so it probably wont happen.
  13. exactly. you dont have to be bob probert (tough guy with skill) but at least be tougher than rasmussen.
  14. looking at what the caps did this offseason as far as free agents and seeing what the wings did leaves a lot to be desired.
  15. he might be one of the best athletes in the league. i remember watching him smother zack lavine early in his career. not many people can do that.
  16. elmer soderblum just reversed check someone and then got in a fight! that he proceeded to win ny pummeling the guy in 3 punches. THAT is how you get into the league mr. 6'8. be a physical monster.
  17. the kings have hired doug christie, the most pussy whipped man on the planet, as their new head coach.
  18. i can see how it would look like that if youre not seeing it every day. but its short term thinking instead of long term planning. almost every nfl team "plays hard down the stretch" regardless of their record. most nfl games are decided by one or two scores. good teams win those games. the real question is what do you want your franchise to be? what's your identity as a team? you have the #1 pick. you have a chance to get it right with a team centered around caleb williams and instead you keep your defensive head coach and let him hire another offensive coordinator, after he had to fire his first OC because he was so bad. why did you think this time would be different? because youre a bad organization who doesnt know what its doing. guess what? it wasnt different. the same coach that messed up the first hiring (the original oc was luke getsy who was subsequently hired by the raiders - another **** organization - and then fired midseason) messed up the second hire. speaking of the raiders, they hired antonio pierce after they "played hard down the stretch last year and won some games." this year he's 4-11.
  19. toronto has how many players who are much better than any player on detroit? marner, nylander, matthews....tavares? the only player the wings have who can make the plays marner and nylander have been making is kane. and he cant do it anymore. the wings had lots of chances, they just miss. or the puck bounces over their stick. or they cant handle the pass. or they shoot it right at the goalie. theyre just not good enough to compete with a team like toronto when toronto is on their game. youve got to beat the crap out of toronto. get them off their game. detroit hasnt done any of that.
  20. chairot turns the puck over on the forecheck and the leafs lead 1-0. you got your work cut out for you mr. mcclelland.
  21. cade is finally turning into luka-light. which is what we hoped he would be coming out of college.
  22. everyone on god's green earth knew eberflus should have been fired LAST YEAR except the bears. they had a chance to get right with coach and qb in year one (which they failed to do with trubisky and fields) and they blew it. again. because they are incompetent. however, flus had to be fired after turkey day. there was an open mutiny in the lockerroom. they had no choice. even the BEARS, who have never fired a coach mid-season in their history had to let him go. but because they are the bears, they made the next stupid decision and made thomas brown (who started the season as passing coordinator and who had only been named offensive coordinator two weeks before after they fired their OC) the head coach! for two weeks he had been calling plays and the bears offense looked semi-competent, and then they ruined any relationship he may have been building with caleb and made him in charge of the whole team. he was two weeks removed from never having been in charge of ANYTHING, to being in charge of EVERYTHING! he was set up to fail by ownership (and this includes kevin warren) who dont know what theyre doing.
  23. good points. i'm pretty sure this is in line with the team's thinking and in one of prashanth's recent posts. and he's not been a fan of yzerman's free agent moves, but he wrote that the timeline is now seider and raymond's primes. that starts - theoretically - in a year or two. exactly when these contracts begin to expire. to give yzerman the benefit of the doubt, those deals were signed (and larkin extended rather than traded ) so that the next core - raymond, seider, edvinsson, etc - would have veterans in the lockeroom and on the ice. so they wouldnt get physically mauled like they were getting in 2019-2020. so they wouldnt be buffalo, winning the prospect rankings every year and finishing in last. i get as frustrated as anyone with the way this season has gone, but if you look at the BIG picture, its just another step to competing in two or three years. the counter being what stanley always brings up - quite rightly - that they dont have a "star" and prospects dont always turn out (see some previous red wings teams "prospect rankings"). but as we have said for a while, they're likely going tobhave to buy a "star." a couple may be available soon, or like you said, they may wait and hope a kirpizov shakes loose after next season. i wouldnt wait. i'd try like heck for heiskanen or ratanan this year. we shall see. yzerman is my childhood hero, so i'll always ultimately give him the benefit of the doubt, even while cursing this product on these boards....
  24. that's the first thing i thought of. lol. since the great "boyd for torres" debate, torres never developed into the star he was hyped to be, but he did out produce matt boyd.
