by any other name, professional football. how long until someone sues the ncaa and says you cant restrict my eligibility? as long as the university deems me an employee, i can play football there for as long as they'll pay me. completely remove the "student" from student athlete and make it a real minor league for the nfl.

https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/41531125/big-ten-sec-talk-possible-scheduling-partnership afc and nfc. notre dame should bet on board now when the big ten goes to 20 teams and two or four divisions.

i take it back about usc. nice comeback.

i think it was more out of circumstance. they were handcuffed by harbaugh's late departure. and they are still thethered to harbaugh's way of thinking vis a vis NIL: not paying for freshmen and instead rewarding the guys who stay. i get it, but that works when you have harbaugh and his staff, i'm not sure moore can live up to that standard. moore is going to have to put his stamp in the program. they already lost nate marshall this year to auburn. i suspect they'll lose a many more unless they pony up. harbaugh was a unicorn. youre going to have to pay the going rate to compete with the big boys. with that said, i'm already resigned to the fall of the team. it will be back to hoping for 7 wins and not getting blasted too badly by ohio state in columbus while keeping it close in ann arbor for a while. 3 or 4 years of that will get moore fired. maybe by then JOHN harbaugh will want to try his luck in college? or tom brady?
-
they will be if they dont open the checkbook and sign some players. get ready for the in-fighting behind the scenes to begin. one half of the admin will back moore and the other half wont, and that half that wont will leak things to the press about how bad things are behind the scenes and cut off support for nil, which will undercut the program and send them in a death spiral. they tried to do it to harbaugh (where do you really think stallions-gate came from?) but he had his brother help him out. well, and he's a great coach when he has a decent qb. moore? moore is brady hoke.

i have a friend who is a big buckeye fan, and they have this conspiracy theory idea that michigan is playing 4 d chess this year. that they know theyre getting sanctioned and are using this as a throwaway year with moore, then they'll fire him when he gets sanctioned by the ncaa and hire a real coach next year. its the kind of stupidity i come to expect from buckeyes and also hilarious in their assumption that michigan's leadership has the ability to play checkers, much less "4 d chess."
-
they were outplayed in the 4th quarter, they dominated the first half. they won because minnesota is a mediocre team. and they barely won. that win over u$c isnt looking so special right now. michigan is a bad team. from the coaching staff on down to the players on the field.

he has a kid who was placed in charge of the bulls, because reinsdorf doesnt care about basketball. theyre not going anywhere. to make nice with the state they proposed a few hundred million in renovations to the area around the current park. we'll see if he actually follows through with it. he made noise about nashville but 1) nashville wants an expansion team and not an established team; and 2) its just a ploy to get the state to pony up and give them a billion dollars. JB told them (and the bears) to pound sand. but its an election year. we'll see what they say next year. BJ the mayor is all for it, but we'll see how much money he has left over after he pays his bosses over at the teacher's union.

move em to nashville.

the KNICKS are trading for karl anthony townes????? thibodeau???? the new york media pressure???? with the softest player in the nba???? this is going to be amazing.
-

he should get all the votes. where are your trash cans now, bitches?

boom. worst. team. ever. suck it, reinsdorf.

20234-24 14-68. Now what? (The 2024 Offseason thread)
buddha replied to Motor City Sonics's topic in Detroit Pistons
oh no. poor jim harbaugh! -
considering the team he inherited was small and unskilled, its taken a lot of time to bring them back up to nhl average.
-
that move was a good one. true. that was the knock on him coming out in the draft: high motor but limited skill. that seems to be the M.O. for most of yzerman's first round picks. or more accurately, that he passes on players with high skill to take "200 foot all around jacks of all trades masters of none" types. i think that's a little harsh but has some truth to it. that's where kasper falls, imo. my other question with that critique is "is yzerman wrong to covet those types"? i have a feeling that nhl "draft experts" fall in love with a type, and that type is skilled offensive players. and then we get to the draft and nhl gms value size and strength over small skill guys who dominate in more wide open junior or european play. just an observation. i have a lot of hopes for yzerman's top picks. kasper is probably the lowest on my list other than cossa and that's only because cossa is a goalie.
-
priced himself out of a job. athletic will pick him up. he was one of the best guys there.
-
he still seems best suited as an agitator, work horse, pk specialist. i still dont see a ton of skill. with that said, those are valuable traits to have. seems like an andrew copp/jt compher type. but i readily admit i am not a hockey scout. lol.
-
i always disliked him for skipping an entire season and sabotaging that bulls team. i hate the bulls but that team was fun and rose killed it by refusing to play.
-
i think kevin warren's time with the bears makes plain that he is not some organizational genius and is really just an empty suit who has empthy suited his way to top jobs.

the ratings are strong for usc-michigan or alabama-georgia, or tennessee-oklahoma. what are the ratings for northwestern-rutgers? or purdue-oregon state? tv wants 5 million viewers a pop. there arent too many schools that deliver those ratings regularly. that's why a future "super league" is not out of the realm of possibility. like you say, tv calls the shots. that's why the pac ten dissolved, because tv told kevin warren what to do and he did it. same with pettiti. eventually tv will tell the acc to pound sand and notre dame to get on board. and they will.
