  1. cease and kopech thriving once they got away from the dumpster fire. vaughn is the definition of "meh" at first base. unfortunately, vaughn might be tork's ceiling. moncada, robert, and eloy are the definition of guys who couldnt care less. moncada got paid and immediately went on the DL for three years. robert is such a waste. true five star talent who just cant be bothered to try. eloy is just lazy and doesnt take anything seriously. once abreu left it all fell apart.
  2. sox announcer is spending five minutes talking about how great the chicago sky are. stoney is speechless. your 2024 chicago white sox: less popular than the wnba.
  3. the best part about this sox season is that the highest they can pick in next year's draft is 10th. they cant even tank right. this has been the most glorious of sox seasons.
  4. fromm looks great against the steelers' udfas. sudfeld and hooker are your backups.
  5. when is stevie going to just bite the bullet and pay them? the longer he waits, the more the price goes up.
  6. askarov to the sharks.
  7. andy reid is definitely one of the greatest coaches in nfl history.
  8. that's been u$c's recruiting strategy for the last 60 years!
  9. and yet you continue to listen...
  10. i would take our starters all day. i'm just worried that were relying on one guy coming off a serious injury (who is old) and another who is very injury prone. if the lions dline is healthy theyre one of the best in the league. thats nothing to shake a stick at. i just hope we get the reader version that is snacks harrison when he first got to detroit and not snacks harrison the next season...
  11. and? what happened when THE GREATEST DRAFT CLASS IN NFL HISTORY got old? what did he win? nothing. tom landry made super bowls with multiple qbs and multiple players. belicheck had brady, but was much more successful than noll. don shula made it with multiple teams and mutiple qbs. noll was a great coach, but the "greatest"? no ****ing way. win with more than one group of players. win in more than one era. nope. no way.
  12. chuck noll. lol. no.
  13. kirk ferentz suspended. probably bought cade mcnamera a DOUBLE cheeseburger.
  14. i dont get the worry about not signing a free agent because we have to sign skubal. the tigers payroll is next to nil. they have a lot of room to sign whatever aging player they want.
  15. defensive tackle is scary. relying on reader and levi makes me nervous. i guess paschal can play there in a pinch. love isaiah williams but dont know where he's going to play. they likely waah their hands of dpj and see if anything falls through the waiver wire or send a pick swap for a player another team is going to cut (john metchie?)
  16. a good time (and snacks) was had by all.
  17. come on carpenter!
  18. good news then! no bomb threat at the westin. yet.
  19. multiple bomb threats downtown and in the west loop today. targeting hotels. hopefully nobody makes one at wrigley tonight! (i would say the same for comiskey but the effect of blowing up an empty stadium isnt likely to produce the desired effect)
  20. fortunately most of the reataurants have already incorporated his name into their menus. kung pao caleb chicken isnt as bad as one might think.
  21. The cubs have been very bad this season. the white sox being the worst team of all time has taken a lot of the focus off them locally. well, that and caleb williams, which is all anyone in this town can talk about.
  22. The Park Hyatt is cordoned off because that's where kamala is staying, iirc. i assume the tigers and mlb booked these hotels a long time ago. if not, theyre in the burbs somewhere. its probably better to be in the burbs this week.
  23. taking the family to wrigley tonight. 9 year old's first game! our downtown office is closed this week because of the dnc. nobody wants to mess with that. there were some protests down michigan avenue on sunday, yesterday was pretty quiet. only 5 arrests. up here we dont see much of anything, even though i live right next to a large arab and jewish neighborhood (living together peacefully, despite the rhetoric of certain chicago politicians). if youre on the northside, you should be fine.
  24. bringing back a hobbled kirk gibson could be like bringing back verlander. cabrera was obviously a different situation. cabrera was signed to a ridiculous extension (that many on this board were in favor of at the time, including many analytics folks), it was either cut him or play him. they were so bad it didnt matter. i liked to see him play even if he was bad.
  25. watching kirk gibson in the twilight of his career hobble around as a part time DH was very fun. he could still hit when called upon, even in a very part time role. flashback to 94: "why do we have to see kirk gibson when its clear danny bautista is the future!"
