20234-24 14-68. Now what? (The 2024 Offseason thread)
buddha replied to Motor City Sonics's topic in Detroit Pistons
if youre in year 5 of a rebuild and you only have ONE player who could bring you back significant assets you have failed tremendously. but we all know this was a tremendous failure. even if they win 35 games this year the rebuild is a tremendous failure. -

i cant wait for the first JEIII article about how klintman is the key to the team and once he gets on the floor the pistons will really start to hum... remember how we traded up for sasser? a "6'1" shooting guard? i hate weaver so much. -

come on, 84's best posts are when he's amped up on dr pepper and telling us that the red wings/lions/tigers 6th round pick is a real sleeper and destined for the hall of fame. i'd rather have that than some sorry old man shaking his fist at a cloud and complaining about everything. 🙂 /s debbie downer. -
he wants to leave the niners so he can get paid. not sure the lions are in a position to pay him what he wants.

reminds of that bill burr joke. a bunch of women on sportscenter complaining about why women dont make as much as men, and all the men have to sit there and act stupid and say "i dont know..."

i wasnt expecting them to sign anyone, i was expecting them to use their cap space to get assets. but they didnt even meet that small bar. yet. there is still time and its possible they hold on to the space and use it to facilitate trades later in the year. i do remember being excited about ben gordon which always serves as a good reminder that i am dumb. -

remember all the beat writers telling us for years that the pistons were in a great position to add talent because they had cap space and teams would have to unload good players to stay below the apron/second apron/cap/whatever? yeah, we got tobias harris and tim hardaway jr out of it. four years of the worst basketball in franchise history to overpay tobias harris and trade a young player for tim hardaway jr. -

summer league games are fun but mean nothing. that said, i didnt think holland looked like anything special. the form on the shot looked ok. he looked bigger than i thought he would. -

considering he's about 5'8, perhaps he is just half a player? -

his wife has a job and career there. they have kids, i think. he didnt want to uproot them. i have no problem with that.

the ratings arent even that great and their biggest stars are reaching retirement age. i dont get that contract. there will come a point where the streaming services are established, the funding runs out, and they start consolidating and making decisions based on cost. any sport other than the nfl might be in trouble then. nba basketball is also pretty bad until the playoffs start. the one thing they do have over other american sports is the international appeal. its probably the third most popular sport behind soccer and formula 1 (not counting cricket because that's so dependent on its status as the only sport the largest country on earth watches).

its click bait. ignore it.

https://www.si.com/onsi/breakaway/prospects-feed/posts/top-five-prospect-systems-in-nhl-01j2406am40w 1. Detroit Red Wings Steve Yzerman must be praised for his rebuilding efforts in Detroit. The Red Wings haven't made the postseason in nearly a decade, but that could change in 2024 with the number of high-level prospects in their system. They have two of my top-10 prospects in the league in Nate Danielson and Simon Edvinsson, but it doesn't stop there.

they'll win 28 games and he'll write an article about the MASSIVE improvement and doubling their win total.
