alex lyon is playing like a #1 goalie in detroit and we got him off the scrap heap for next to nothing. sebastian cossa is not playing like a #1 goalie in the AHL and we traded up in the first round to get him. trey augustine is playing like a #1 goalie at the world juniors and at msu and we got him in the secomd round. i remain unconvinced that cossa will live up to his hype. i do hold out hope that he will develop later because he is so big. his ceiling remains high. my head tells me we should trade him if we can get a good return.
-
i would definitely trade sebastian cossa for either of those players.

how much of that has to do with sparty matt ishbia owning the team? who else is going to take a chance on a twice convicted domestic abuser? i wonder if keith appling lives in ishbia's basement? if he does, ishbia probably doesnt know about it.

i dont want to pay lindholm $6-7 million a year to keep him. i dont want to trade a first rounder for a rental. so i dont think the wings are in position to deal for lindholm right now.
-
lol
-
nobody was willing to beat the wings' offer this year. 2 years at $5m ought to get it done if he can continue to produce and stay healthy. the cap is going up and youre going to lose perron after this year and will need another offensive forward.
-
ok. pronman has kasper rated the #77 prospect in the nhl. if youre calgary and you have the #1 player on the trade market are you going to accept LESS than the #77 prospect in hockey for him? do you think some other team might be able to beat that package?
-
ok. so what will you accept for trading patrick kane? and once you give up a box of trinkets for the #1 player on the market (lindholm), what are you signing him for and who does he replace? and dont cop out with "i'll let steve yzerman decide that."
-
lol. ok nhl gm. let's send a 4th round pick and Holl's contract. done.
-
i believe quinn has interviewed three times in washington.
-
i would not trade patrick kane. he's their best (only) offensively dynamic player. and as max has pointed out recently, his underlying defensive numbers havent been bad either. not because he plays defense, but because when he's on the ice the other team doesnt have a lot of the puck because kane is so good at possession i wouldnt trade kane, i would re-sign him.
-
i'd rather have chris tanev than lindholm. if you trade a first round pick and a top prospect (you want to give up kasper or edvinsson for a rental?) for lindholm, who do you cut?
-
who are you going to trade for lindholm and are you going to re-sign him for the $7-8 mil per year he's going to want?
-
they can always franchise him. that would really hurt their cap. better to just give him the contract extension which you can fiddle with to make it more cap friendly. the only way goff doesnt stay is if he gets hurt, hooker steps in and wally pipps him. but that is a quite unlikely scenario.

i doubt the ncaa issues amount to anything. the most they'll get is a 1 year postseason ban and harbaugh and stallions get a show cause order. they already suspended him twice.

the guy who went to wisconsin and brought in a spread offense oc? at wisconsin? the guy who went 7-6 in the worst big ten west division in memory? no thank you. i know you have a love for luke fickell but just like you were with youre never ending quest to get jim harbaugh fired from michigan, youre wrong. would luke fickell have been better at msu than mel tucker? probably. but ANYONE DECENT would have been better at msu than mel tucker. mel tucker was a nothing guy who took the job when they overpaid him because no one else would take it and then lucked his way into kenneth walker iii. and then immediately fell apart because he is not a good coach/program leader. and then msu got incredibly lucky that he couldnt keep his **** in his pants and they were able to get out of their mistake. and as a last reminder, luke fickell was the head coach at osu. he was a die hard osu player and bleeds osu. he is not coming to michigan and he is not wanted at michigan. this is not bo schembechler. this is 2024. get over the luke fickell lust. even if he does a decent job at wisconsin he is not getting the michigan job. not today. not tomorrow. not in 10 years. never.

leipold is too old. i'd rather give moore an opportunity. i forgot about jedd fisch. i would have hired him too. timing hurt this search as all the best candidates were snatched up before michigan had a chance to look. that said, they wouldnt have looked. moore was always getting hired here. again, its the easiest thing to do. all you have to do is look at the basketball program (and the hockey program) to see that manuel doesnt know what he's doing and will not make a decision until forced. how many times does howard have to embarass the university for him to get fired? why did it take forever to fire mel pearson? and then they just promoted an assistant. why? cause that's the easiest thing to do. poor leadership is hurting the athletic department. they got lucky with a unicorn football coach and basketball coach (both brought in by a different AD, btw). i hope moore can keep the good vibes going at michigan, but even if he does, it wont be because of manuel. it will be because harbaugh set the foundation and identified moore early. manuel is just along for the ride. nothing more.
-
big win.
-
oh, and another reason it will be moore is because its the easiest thing for warde manuel to do. its readily apparent that making decisions and sticking to a plan arent really warde's thing. the easiest thing to do for someone who doesnt have a plan or know what theyre doing is to do nothing. see illitch, chris and avila, al.

one more thing, if it wasnt going to be moore (and it is going to be moore) then the only other candidates were kalen deboer and dan lanning. deboer took the bama job. lanning turned down the bama job. michigan should underhandedly kick the tires on lanning but i doubt he comes to michigan over bama. i know richrod turned down bama for michigan but that was bama pre-saban. they were a much different program then: all the expectations and none of the players. leiopold at kansas is 62. kleiman is almost 60. no and no. brian kelly is a non-starter for so many reasons, not the least of which that he killed a kid. i also really doubt kelly would actually come to michigan over lsu as lsu has more re$ource$. matt campbell is a non-starter for me. the shine has worn off of that one. luke fickell sucks. the only other potential candidate is drinkwitz at missou. younger and successful, building a program at a bottom feeder school in the sec. but it doesnt matter because moore is getting the job.

tis a done deal, imo.
