reduce the size of the lane so big man can camp out more on offense, or get rid of the three seconds rule. make an offensive three seconds call for any player standing in the corner. move the three point line back even more, or get rid of it altogether.

better than 0, i guess. this was how they survived all season, because of alex lyon. if he can get hot again, perhaps they can pick up some points on another streak? but i think its too little too late now.

i think he added a lot of middle of the road professional players to beef up the locker room. i dont think we want to be buffalo, always winning the prospect race but always finishing last. i understand why he did what he did in free agency for the MOST part. i still dont understand holl AND petry. one or the other maybe, but there was no need for both. people bag on chairot bit he's been pretty decent this year.

i asked why it was good asset management to deal bogey/burks for two seconds and a bench player rather than the first they could have gotten for bogey last year and you told me it was because of grimes. i think the front office agreed with you that grimes and two seconds is better than a mid to low first. grimes is an injured role player. to me its another example of weaver misusing assets. one of MANY examples because he is terrible at his job.

he's always said he's building a long term project, and he has the leash to do it because he's steve freaking yzerman. kenny holland said rebuilds take ten years. to me, the rebuild STARTED in yzerman's first year. kenny left this team with one of the worst teams in modern nhl history and a terrible farm system. that team had larkin, bertuzzi, mantha, and hronek. to me the rebuild began in 19-20, which puts us on course for being a contender in 2029! whoo hoo were ahead of schedule! maybe.

tells me they dont think theyre going to make it this year. keep bringing up filler guys and no potential difference makers. they care more about GR doing well in the playoffs than detroit making it and losing in 4. in the big picture, that might be the smarter move.

early pre-season futures win totals: lions 10.5 pack 10.5 bears 8.5 vikings 6.5 (lions even, pack juiced to the under, bears and vikings juiced to the over)

tigers and lions seem low, pistons seem way too high. the pistons dont even own their own arena.

to bring this full circle, i just saw grant hill in the airport...
-
cade hasnt been nearly as good as grant hill. better shooter but not as good of an athlete. but you get the comparison. a top pick who was left to languish with a bad organization that couldnt get out of its own way. cade seems destined to go down a similar path. theyre only real hope is to tank again next year and get a top 3 pick in the lottery after that. but we all know how that is likely to turn out.
-
how long is cade going to put up with this before he demands a trade? grant hill 2.0.

i suspect if they keep fields at qb he will end up as successful as kordell stewart. which is not a compliment.
-
if someone could convince fields that he's not a good qb, but is actually an amazing rb or wr, they might have a unique talent.

i didnt see the wings' games when berggren was up, but it doesnt seem like he made much of a difference and he was promptly sent back down. is he anything more than trade bait at this point? isnt his contract up? they may just not re-sign him.
-
good luck to reynolds. i'll never get over his drops against the niners. cost them a super bowl.
-
i will be shocked if weaver is fired.

the last team to be the worst record in the league in back to back seasons was the 01-02 bulls.
-
wizards have won three straight. the pistons are now 2 games in front of them for the worst record in the league.
-
yes
-
if he can find anyone to take husso's salary he's a genius.
-
if this year is any indication there will be lots of guys who should be called up but wont be because theyre blocked. if they re-sign perron that will be another block to guys like mazur or kasper. at some point, if theyre going to keep rolling with the veteran clubhouse presence dudes, theyre going to need to trade some of these young players for a star type player before their prospect sign wears off.

whether or not you get a compensatory pick is based on a formula. part of that formula is how many of your players were signed by other teams and for how much, but another key part is how many free agents your team signed and for how much. in holmes' first year he let mutiple players walk for big deals (golladay in particular) and didnt sign anyone to anything more than a cursory deal. thus, we got lots of comp picks the next year. we havent received many (any?) since because we signed a lot of players to big deals. if you want the lions to sign a bunch of free agents, they arent going to get many - or any - comp picks, even if they let a lot of flotsam and jetsom leave the team. if they reach the 49ers or chiefs level of roster where they have to pay certain guys and have no more space, then they can use the comp system to recoup midround picks. but that means losing good players and not signing big name replacements. the folks who are calling for the lions to sign every 30 year old big name free agent under the sun are the same ones saying we should trade assets because we'll get comp picks back. no you wont. or you wont get a good comp pick. maybe a 5th, mlre likely a 6th or 7th. you get a 3rd round comp pick when you lose a good player and dont sign anyone else to a big deal.

he must be using win totals in a calendar year, because those are not the pistons season win totals. still, either list is quite depressing.
-
the wings had the easiest schedule of all the 8th place contenders. then larkin got hurt and they lost ALL of those easy games. now they have to beat good teams in order to make it which means they probably arent going to make it.
-
sure, but we'll end up picking fifth.
