i dont know it to be true, its just speculation. you guys are really all about tobias harris at $26 million. i mean, its been rumored to be happening for a very long time, i'm sure it was trajan's decision. -

i dont know if he did either way. i would not simply assume that he would not take an offer that was for a lot more than the offer he eventually accepted, although it is possible that he was not going to come here for any amount of money. although i doubt it. -

if you offered kcp 3 years at $30 million per year, he would happily come here. -

what's the most surprising move in free agency? "Jamal Collier: Tobias Harris' contract with the Detroit Pistons. I certainly understand the thought process and fit for a young team that has cap space available and could use a veteran to help add some wins. However, a two-year, $52 million deal was surprising, especially considering Harris' up-and-down tenure with the Sixers after his last contract. Harris is now set to earn more than $300 million in his career at the end of this deal." kcp is a better player and fit for the pistons and he'll be making $5 million less per season. harris' deal is a joke, something that was seemingly worked out with the old regime before they were replaced (arn tellum, anyone?). no one else was giving harris that kind of money. -

i didnt expect them to come in and sign a bunch of all stars, i hoped they would come in and sign some wing role players who could play d and shoot 3s, maybe take a swing on a real rim protector, pick up a contract with a frp attached to it, hire a coach considered a "good basketball mind" or a guy who can develop players. i dont think they've done any of that yet. but its still early and they have cap space available to play with. maybe if you squint you can see tobias harris as a 3 and d player. thj is a black hole on offense who i fear will have all the irrational confidence of zach lavine without any of the actual ability. and all we got for him was 3 seconds and the right to get rid of quentin grimes. not that grimes was the be all end all, but he was a better bet than thj (unless he really wanted out). bickerstaff i see as a nothing burger (did that just for hongbit) who is an upgrade on a guy who just coached one of the worst seasons of all time. small steps, i suppose. but my uneducated basketball mind really wanted borrego or chris quinn or kenny atkinson...not the guy kenny atkinson was hired to replace. i'm underwhelmed and worried that arn tellum still has a lot of say in what's going on. hopefully not. i am moderately intrigued with ron holland, so there's that. -

whomever the coach is the team will win more games because monty was ao spectacularly bad last year. of course, i said the same thing about dwayne casey... -
Matt Shepard Out as Tigers PBP, Jason Benetti In.

whether its true or not monroe will be let go. there are plenty of people to do his job without the drama. -
i dont see any way cossa is in detroit unless multiple guys get hurt. i really like what theyve done at goalie so far.
-
chris tanev got SIX YEARS. did you want that for detroit? stamkos is old af and declining and he got 4. same with marchessault. no. thank. you.

i'm fine with what they did today because they didnt spend stupid term on players. everyone who is complaining that they didnt sign any big names today were the same people pounding the table for johnny gaudreau and pierre luc dubois. chasing the shiny toy every year. the worst things yzerman has done are the copp, compher, and holl deals. overpaying for guys in years and money. the best things he's done in FA are waiting out the market to get ghost and kane when everyone else was tapped out on money. waiting out ottawa to get debrincat on a good trade and for decent TERM. that kane deal is great. every other deal today was prudent, imo. to me, this was always a bridge year to next year. make your big splash when your foundation is ready to contribute. now, with all that said, its day one. he could be dealing multiple #1 picks for trouba or signing a guy for 5 years to play third line center tomorrow and i will have to walk this all back. but for the moment, i am fine with this. bring up the kids next year and let them play. sign seider and raymond. if you cant make the playoffs, i'm ok with that. let fabbri, husso, etc come off the books and spend big next year.
-
i wouldnt do 3 years, not with their defensive prospect pipeline.
-
an excellent question, but the real inquiry is who is the 13th best prospect we will pick at #5.
-
sell now before the bottom drops out on sports. someone tell tom gores.
-
its a good backup goalie to have. now, you still have husso, lyon, and talbot. is someone getting moved? if so, lyon would certainly fetch the most of any of them.
-
AHL depth guy.
-
we say this every year and next to none of them work out. i hope they do. they all sound interesting to me too, but the odds are the odds.
-
that's what i would ask for. they'll say no. in retrospect, i might do it for an unprotected first. i just think lavine is exactly the wrong type of player to be around a young team for rhe next three years. selfish and not a leader. i would pass on him.
-
lavine's contract is too big for too long.

wait, is troy weaver still running this team? step 1) draft an uber athlete who cant shoot; step 2) sign a Friend of Troy; step 3) pick 5th in next year's draft.
