  1. that wasnt even an nba game. and ivey still played like ****. it sure looks like he's just quit.
  2. wallace was one of the best players in the league when he out his mind to it. he was just lazy and addicted to pot. ras has shown maybe two weeks worth of games where he is a difference maker. reminds me more of james wiseman. a guy with ideal size and immense talent who just cant put it together. actually that's harsh. ras is at least a contributor. wiseman is one of the worst players in the league.
  3. otoh, do you want to be the wings or the islanders? the islanders traded for very good but not elite players and are capped out with a few of them and nothing in their system. they hired a "torts" type coach who will yell and scream and get immediate results and soon flame out. they "went for it" and will likely end up in the 8th seed and beat soundly in round 1. is that what we want? did we want to deal #1 picks and solid prospects for bo horvath? or do we want sandin-pelikka and danielson? to me that was the choice because the wings did not have anything of substance in the farm system pre-yzerman other than hronek, who got them ASP.
  4. i know nobody wants to hear excuses and patience, but the timeline is really the next two years when the new draft picks should reach the big leagues. if there is one criticism of yzerman, its the inability to turn the cap space they had into a difference making player and/or massive amounts of draft capital. instead, they spent on "steady" vets like copp, compher, perron, and chairot. i understand the reasoning of trying to be competitive. you dont want to be the pistons and have nothing but young players and no vets to provide substance and leadership. otoh, if you spend all your money on average players you get average results. and that's exactly what weve seen from them.
  5. you would expect to see gains from edvinsson, johannson, kasper, and mazur next year. i still think danielson might be a sneaky addition but yzerman appears to be from the holland school of slow promotion. but now half those guys are blocked by the holls and petrys of the world. to me, rasmussen and debrincat are the big disappointments this year. you really saw rasmussen at times last year turn into the big power forwars he was drafted to be. this year he turned back into the weak player we saw in the previous year. in defense of ths current administration, this is where the failure in the 2016-2018 drafts kill them. they have nothing of substance to show from all those picks holland obtained and then wasted. especially top ten picks in ras and zadina who should be in their primes right now.
  6. the NHL likes to move into smaller, fast growing US cities early (see vegas, raleigh, and salt lake). San Antonio/Austin could be a location. but the lure of Houston's massive population may be too strong. Atlanta's population and its MLS success could also come calling. those two cities have been magnets for migration, the nhl could bet that this time it will be different because the population makeup has changed so much.
  7. winnipeg is a strong candidate to relocate again. its just not big enough to support an nhl franchise anymore.
  8. this is a g league game. an embarassment to the league.
  9. what? next thing you know you'll learn to stop hating and love the in season tournament!
  10. almost as bad as our lottery luck.
  11. knowing holmes the way we do, it seems more likely that he would trade up from 29 than trade down. they probably have a limited number of prospects with first round grades and will see if they can trade up to get one if they are the last one left on the list.
  12. i'm fine letting veleno go. bring up kasper.
  13. Kane provides offensive flair that they just dont have. i'd sign him to a reasonable deal. i do think he's fallen off at the end. the real problem is now you start to see the dangers of paying copp and compher to longer term deals. those guys arent going anywhere and they've both turned out to be average players. now there's a bit of a logjam where you could have used that spot - and that money - to bring in a more skilled skater.
  14. graham barton. build the lines.
  15. seider is $8 x $8.5 raymond may have played his way into $7.5 to $8.
  16. veleno is easily replaceable. i wouldnt spend anything on him other than a typical 4th liner interchangeable player.
  17. “We have to assess what’s not working. I’m down to Monty and I talking about rotations. I don’t normally do that. Monty is so good and knows what’s he doing, he’s open to even talking about it. We do have to change something. I can’t tell you what it exactly is. We’re diving in pretty hard. We’re probably two weeks ahead of you guys. Our disappointment is catching up to us too.” dont worry guys, tom gores is on the case. he's talking rotations with monty. does anyone actually think this actually happened? that tom gores actually talked rotations with monty? this is just more stammering bull**** from a fraud who is just talking out of his ass. he's an embarassment to the team. if the league gave a ****, he'd be an embarassment to them as well. unless he says "i have a problem with black people", the league will do nothing.
  18. “Change is coming. I’m just saying that in terms of Monty, Troy, all of that stuff … they will be in place, but I’m all over them. They’ll tell you that too. There’s a lot of accountability that needs to be held. There might be additions to staff and all of that stuff. What’s for sure is that change is coming. We’re not right, right now. We have to add and delete. We’re on it already. We will make changes. We will make them. We don’t know exactly what they’ll be yet.” Gores added that if anyone is to blame for what has happened, it’s him and Weaver. “In terms of how we’re not performing and so on, I think it has to go on Troy and I. It starts there. … We underestimated something. We have seven or eight players who are 22 and under. That’s the makeup of our roster. Maybe we need more playing veterans.” does anyone think this person is a serious nba owner? with a plan for the future? these are the ramblings of a rich guy who thinks he knows better than everyone else because he's rich.
  19. "After the team’s loss to Utah in Detroit on Thursday, fans were heard chanting “sell the team,” loud enough to be heard on the broadcast. Gores said he thought it was ridiculous. “They can say what they want, but that’s ridiculous. Other than winning — and we should win more games — we do a lot in the community. Players, the organization, we do a lot in the community. If you put aside winning, we’ve made a very big difference in the community. That means a lot to me. I understand that’s only going to mean a lot to people if we win, but the underworking of what’s happening and with our community, over all these years, is there. We’re doing multibillion-dollar things outside of (basketball). I understand the fans being upset, but it’s a ridiculous thought,” Gores said." abandon hope all ye who enter here.
  20. the pistons have now clinched the worst record in franchise history.
  21. disappointed that they werent booed off the floor.
  22. that jury was always going to convict. they lost that case in voir dire. they needed multiple strong non-black voices in that jury room. if you want to point to the biggest mistake the prosecution made, it was filing the case in downtown LA county instead of santa monica. if you file that case in santa monica you get a majority white jury, but by filing it in downtown LA you get a majority black jury. that jury had 8 black people and 1 white female. and the white female was a weak personality who was just going to go along with what everyone else did. the gloves didnt matter.
  23. he got off because he was black and the black jurors were not going to convict him. thats it. all the other stuff doesnt really matter. i dont even think their use of furman's past statements on race - which never should have come in - mattered. that jury hated LA cops and the plaintiffs (and the judge) did a great job of mucking it up and making the trial about the LAPD and not about the obvious murderer who was standing right in front of them. if you want to get into the weeds, it was the judge who caved to the pressure. ito let the defense do whatever it liked, it was ridiculous. he was obviously intimidated by the big name attorneys on the other side and his decisions were all slanted to them. the weight of the knowledge that a decision against oj might have started another riot may also have weighed on him, but i think the bigger issue was his being intimidated by the moment and the johnnie cochran's and f lee bailey's of the world.
  24. if they get better next year there is 0 chance they get fired. even if they get marginally better. with that said, i DO expect them to be better simply because it is so hard to be this bad. to do it again would be...borderline amazing. i have a lot of fears with this team. one of them is that they go all in on their cap space for lavine, thus assuring a ceiling of a play in team. then gores will tout it as a success, just like he did when the blake team made the playoffs and for all the great work theyve done in the community.
  25. shame he died before he could find the real killer...
