  1. the nfl took christmas this year too.
  2. i think kane is an A. no other player who has had that surgery has come back and done anything. he's come back and is the same player he was last year production wise. he'll never be who he was in his prime, but he is the most creative and best offensive player on this team. whether or not he (and debrincat) sacrifice too much defense is another question. but he wasnt brought here to defend. he's exceeded expectations, imo. exceeds: kane, sprong, veleno, lyon, chairot, compher, gotisbehere, raymond meets: larkin, seider, walman, copp, fabbri does not meet: perron, rasmussen, kostin, holl, maata, petry, fischer, husso, reimer part of those grades are based on my expectations, part on production. for instance, chairot has been pretty good this year considering his last couple of seasons. compher's offense has been a plus and a surprise. i expected more from rasmussen. he's been muted this year. perron looks his age. the defensive signings have not worked out and are serving to hold edvinsson back. the goaltending other than lyon has been atrocious. a word on edvinsson: he wasnt all that when he was here. he had a similar problem to what i saw in the preseason: no urgency to his game. seider became a physical force (for a while) his second year. edvinsson needs that leap. whether he develops it or not he should be in detroit right now. petry is cooked. holl and maata are regular healthy scratches. in hindsight, yzerman spent too much money on old defense this offseason.
  3. penix has major injury concerns too.
  4. jj or penix?
  5. ncaa lays the hammer down on florida state for using nil as a recruiting tool yet texas a & m gets nothing. typical ncaa.
  6. plunder washington?
  7. ebuka is back, the whole d line is back. their corners are back. theyre loaded. i expect them to go undefeated.
  8. have you seen all the players coming back for ohio state? theyre going to be a juggernaut next year.
  9. "jim, you'll be suspended for next season and get michigan a post-season ban."
  10. albert breer on the radio in atlanta today saying the falcons job is a two man race between belicheck and harbaugh. you might remember albert breer as the man who guaranteed harbaugh would never go to michigan and was a lock for the raiders job. take anything buckeye breer says with a grain of salt.
  11. i know were the worst team of all yime, but think about how bad we would be if we drafted jalen green instead of cade.
  12. sherrone moore was always going to be michigan's next head coach.
  13. i got the rams at +4. now its down to +3. i doubt it goes under 3. pretty even matchup but i still like the lions because theyre playijg at home. 6 out of 7 "anonymous executives" in the athletic picked the lions. just dont ask how many picked michigan...
  14. using your first round pick on a 3rd round rated guard is bad? who knew?
  15. i wont really care until they have another losing streak close to 28 games OR when they get close to breaking the sixers' record for worst single season record of all time. it will be funny when they do it and no one gets fired.
  16. lions are playing a home playoff game. they should win.
  17. thinking about the playoffs, i was surprised they beat bama and was surprised they didnt beat washington by more. their aversion to letting jj run or using play action allowed washington's defense to load the box with 8 guys after the first quarter. it wasnt until they needed a drive in the late third/early fourth before they finally started to use jj. in fairness, all i hear is that jj was hurt. i think they could have (and should have) dominated washington. their defense cant hang with michigan's running game unless they completely sell out. otoh, i'm glad they didnt play texas because that team was built to beat michigan's offense. they would have been there too if sarkisian was smart enough to run the ball...
  18. why?
  19. my wife's firm has a london office and they couldnt give tickets away to those london games. the nfl is probably more popular in germany, they seem to be nfl crazy. which is why they should put the lions in germany because of amon ra.
  20. that 85 team is really underrated. lost to chuck long on the road. didnt help that the iowa team got destroyed in the rose bowl.
  21. of the teams in my lifetime, i'd say this team was equal to bo's early 70s teams and 1985 harbaugh team. i'd put 2023 ahead of 1997.
  22. according to srs, this was michigan's seventh best team of all time. behind the mad magicians, a few 1940s teams, and bo's 1973 squad. 1997 ranks 29th, btw. sandwiched in between the 2021 and 2022 teams.
  23. can you imagine if they lose 28 straight AGAIN? that would be amazing.
  24. how lucky was this team that the raptors decided to trade their best player the day before they played detroit? if they dont make that trade on that day - so they wouldnt have barrett and quickley in the lineup - the pistons are probably looking at 35 straight losses right now instead of 6.
