it is nice to know the days of us massively overpaying patriots is over.

nfl free agency is usually nothing but fool's gold. good players at premium positions dont usually become free agents. older guys do. guys at less premium positions do. guys with big time flaws or injury risks do. teams find a way to keep the good players. lions will build through the draft and find some good depth/rotation guys in free agency.

the pistons are such a fascinating case of terribleness that people find it hard to look away. such a car crash of a franchise. and it will get better next year because the law of averages just says it will. and there is talent there. so the people in charge wont go anywhere and instead will trumpet that this was always part of the plan. well....this and all the community involvement. that's their real goal as an organization. that and making sure prisoners pay $25 per email.

for all the lauding of houston and the hand wringing about how they were more successful in their rebuild than detroit, the rockets are currently 4.5 games out of TENTH in the west. are they better than detroit this year? duh. of course. every team not named the washington wizards is better than detroit this year. but are they a success? i dont think so. and are they going to be better than detroit long term? that still remains to be seen. depends on whether the pistons can turn this cap space into useful parts.

i'm not worried about the leafs. they wont catch them. the flyers should roll the hawks. bedard is back but they stink. they just sent reichel down to the ahl because he's been so bad.

if theyre going to move breggren, its more likely that they do it over the offseason.

danielle hunter and khalil mack (or joey bosa) are probably going to bust the bank. i'd rather go for someone like aj epanessa. if you are intent on busting the bank, go for brian burns. corner is a more pressing need, imo. theyre wedded to cam sutton and really dont have anything else. as others have said, the lions are going to be paying goff $50 million, st brown $25-27 million, hutchinson will be one of the highest paid ends, and sewell will have the biggest contract in oline history. that's a lot of mouths to feed. i dont want to be staring down a contract hit for a 30+ year old declining defensive end that might result in a piece like laporta or gibbs or branch leaving.
