  1. may we never see michigan schedule this scared again. pathetic.
  2. yeah, it wasnt a criticism. i'd like to see more of him moving with the puck in the next game. and he's really tall. him and seider could be a really intimidating 1-2 pair.
  3. kasper starts the season as rogle's second line center. niederbach is a 4th line winger. wallinder is a top pair defenseman. dower-nielson starts as frolunda's 4th line winger.
  4. i think it says more about prospect rating. young guy + throw hard + one good season at low levels = "top prospect."
  5. i dont know. he really moved the puck well on the power play and he's really tall. but his style seems really....languid? almost effortless. seemed like he almost wasnt even trying. not very physical in defense. iirc, last year the wings kind of got dominated at this tournament, so it was good that they played well in gsme one. but that columbus first line was too much for them even though they won the game. columbus also played a game the day before so they might have been a bit tired. i'll be interested to see how the wings look in game 2, and see how they look against st louis, who physically dominated them last year.
  6. yes, but franklin perez will be the foundation of the rebuild.
  7. how much if that was for the hookers?
  8. wings win! piercy with 4 goals. edvinsson looked better as the game went on. elmer needs to work on his skating. didnt notice sebrango or viro all that much. hanas played really well. cossa was ad advertised: athletic, tall, and all over the place.
  9. its disappointing not to have ragnow but brown was more than capable last year. jackson would be a big loss because there is no one else to take his place.
  10. much better in second period. edvinsson showed much better stuff. he was really moving the puck well on the power play. he had one play with three guys around him and he was able to flip it forward and exit the zone. good stuff from him. cross hanas with two really nice passes for both the second period goals. not so much from elmer but you can see he's got really good puck control. the skating isnt there but the puck control and the size are. cossa looked good in the half a period he was out there. the one real good chance cbus had, cossa was way out of position but it looked like he was able to reach back and get a piece of it. cbus's top line is still buzzing, but the wings were more in control.
  11. i did think soderblum looked good. he's massive. a little slow, but he made a nice pass on what should have been a goal, and then had a nifty move in front of the net to get a shot that just went wide. if were lucky, he could end up being a super sized tomas holmstrom.
  12. he made some good saves, but you can see his issues. on the goal he was flopping around, and in general he's sort of all over the place. that said, he did make some nice saves. edvinsson made some mistakes and didnt look good, imo. the columbus first line was dominating them.
  13. tim biakabatuka's nephew!!!!
  14. i'm not so high on niederbach anymore. seems like a fourth line rotation player to me. kasper is looking pretty good...
  15. they were traded for quintana in the same off season. white sox struck early while the tigers were still dithering about whether to deal him, iirc. look, part of it was theo mishandling the cubs' prospects. lets remember, theo traded candy and paredes for justin wilson. he's the only gm who al could beat in a trade (although castellanos worked out well for 1/2 season with chicago). when they dealt for quintana, verlander was just starting to round into form. but i know there were discussions about him going to the cubs at the time, and it would have been for eloy at a minimum.
  16. i dont watch enough ravens games to know if he gets hit as much as cam did. cam was never the same after getting obliterated by denver in that super bowl.
  17. ive seen a few games on espn+ last year. its a much different game on the bigger ice surface. you can see why some of them struggle to adjust to the nhl. its also slower. but still good. wallinder and kasper are at rogle, right?
  18. baltimore isnt trading lamar jackson, imo.
  19. dylan cease: 14-7, 2.16 era, 189 era+ eloy jimenez: 311/377/508, 148 ops+ *** franklin perez: 0-4, 9.89 era in rookie ball. jake rogers: injured daz cameron: 219/286/344 in detroit no, i will never let it go how al avila screwed this team with the verlander trade.
  20. lions would blow their cap up to sign lamar jackson. the plan - i thought - was to get a young qb to take over after goff leaves after next season. by then they will have built up the talent on the rest of the team in order to be successful. but lamar is a good qb and would likely make them nfc north contenders if they continue to use their draft picks wisely.
  21. i bet that you massively overrate the influence of prop betting in what they do to the ball. did they increase the size of the bases because they knew there would be more prop betting on the number of stolen bases in an inning? whatever they do to the game there will be bets and "prop bets" and in game bets. the decisions on what to do with the ball have nothing to do with current prop bets.
  22. what do "prop bettors" have to do with anything? there will be prop bets whether they deaden the ball or not.
  23. and jim leyland batted him third cause he was playing for sheffield and sheffield batted third...
  24. juan gone made 36.8 million after leaving detroit. he had a great year the next year and then fell off a cliff. him turning down detroit was a much better outcome for detroit than juan.
