  1. but the shift has been growing more prevalent every year and players have not stopped trying to pull the ball and hit to all fields. not sure why eliminating the shift is an indication that they want more home runs. i think they want more balls in play and more people on the basepaths. that's what theyre looking for.
  2. as you would say....HYPERBOLE. lol. its going to take time to see results from the new scouting and development system installed a few years ago. and prospect rankings are notoriously volatile. that said, gotta pick it up Al. you sold the rebuild and you sold the end of the rebuild. the results from this seem.....poor so far.
  3. that's not mediocrity, that's bad. mediocraty would be a step up for this team. the only almost mediocre season was last year.
  4. maybe if kirk gibson had built a championship team with another organization. but he hasnt. there is no tigers equivalent to steve yzerman and what he built in tampa bay.
  5. not really. if he had a family friend who wanted the job and was also super successful at it and was a club legend, it would be appropriate. but they dont.
  6. that would be the easiest and simplest thing to do, so that's the most likely thing that will happen.
  7. is there a steve yzerman equivalent for the tigers?
  8. team with little to offer gets little in return. sounds about right.
  9. if anything, they were regular seasoj underachievers. 2013 was the biggest disappointment.
  10. there's way too much math in this thread.
  11. the words of the prophets are written on comerica's walls.... (thanks to chris fetter...)
  12. somedays i wish my work station had that chicken wire on it...
  13. macgruder is troy weaver's buddy. that's why he keeps being paid.
  14. hello last place my old friend...
  15. baddoo is done. should be in double a.
  16. the last time the tigers had a big free agent splurge with avila they didnt get any better either. maybe there is a common denominator here? nyah.
  17. marcelo mayer #15.
  18. even worse, chris extended him after years of failure, lol.
  19. they have to trade for soto now. the giants have left them no choice.
  20. its not a matter of doing something at the deadline or saying "the rebuild is over," its promoting a guy who failed at the one job he was asked to do (take over for dd and sign a bunch of free agents...then sell off thosr pieces). he's failed. and what did chris do? he did the easiest thing to do: he promoted him. you argue with me about yzerman and the wings, but avila and the tigers is an obvious case of "i dont know what the fuck to do so i'm just going with the guy in front of me." that's it. its incompetence by a guy who doesnt know what to do, so he does the easiest thing he can do.
  21. that says more about illitch's OTHER kids...and the people that were put in charge of the business. not chris. i'm not sure what about chris' time as head of thr wings and tigers gives you any idea he knows that he's doing.
  22. willIam clay ford was ignorant as to how to run a successful business. he never ran anything in his life and was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. he was loyal because he didnt have a clue as to how to run a successful organization. chris illitch has shown no signs of being able to run a sports team. sure, his dad wasnt the best in the beginning, but did hire devellano and then dd for the tigers after initial missteps. chris lucked into steve yzerman and promoted avila and watched him fail and did nothing.
  23. chris illitch is the spoiled son of a guy who built a business empire. he's william clay ford.
