  1. del is back for five minutes and everything is already screwed up.
  2. are teams really ready to give up a top ten-ish pick for jerami grant?
  3. oh no. he found us!
  4. i dont see how you can not like this deal for the twins. they got the best player on the market for a short term deal that keeps him motivated amd allows him to reset again next year if he wants and makes him the highest paid player at his position. win-win.
  5. in another year you could do something crazy, like sign carlos correa!
  6. we may have the inferior player, but we have him for TWICE as long! ha! take that, twinkies.
  7. correa's contract over baez's decline years any day of the week. correa is much better than baez.
  8. his contract is not small.
  9. the stat heads will be pissed considering they value stetcher more than anyone else seems to.
  10. tom brady did the same thing before deflategate.
  11. that's as equally plausible as my theory. on the one hand, when money is available, the people come out of the woodwork. on the other hand, that's a lot of smoke for there to be NO fire.
  12. leafs waive mrazek...
  13. no normal american goes to prison for having sex with prostitutes (maybe a day?). you get probation and socially humiliated. as you know, the grand jury is the prosecutor's best case. there is no defense there. and they still couldnt get the most basic of charges against him. obviously, whatever they presented didnt work in my uneducated opinion, i think most people werent convinced these "massage therapists" didnt know exectly what they were getting into, and that this is largely a profit driven exercise by a politically ambitious plaintiff's lawyer who ran for governor last time out, and a bunch of women who are piling on hoping to get a nice settlement check. i could be wrong. but i find the idea of watson as a "serial rapist" to be far fetched. i think he's a dude who likes the no attachment sex that comes from prostitutes. however, i recognize i could be very wrong. but im not one to jump aboard the "wont someone please think of the children!!!!!!" morality play easily.
  14. how is that "not how this works"?
  15. that can still be a devastating injury. i know we hear about okudah and okwara "doing great" and all that, and akers came back early (but did he play well?), but i'm awfully wary of guys built on athleticism and twitchiness coming back 100% from that kind of injury. he may never be the same. 66 is fine for such a risk, i suppose. but if i'm the lions with so mamy other needs to fill, it would really depend on who else is there.
  16. if sparty win then you have to hear them praise izzo over and over. just as bad as kryzewski praise, theyre both insufferable.
  17. then dont take him. 32 or 34 is way too early to take such a risk.
  18. he'll go back to his ways of paying hookers for sex?
  19. its going to take at least another two years to dig out of ken holland's mess. its so hard for the wings to get the puck and keep it, other teams skate and shoot rings around them continually. that's why i would probably deal bertuzzi if they got another mantha-like offer.
  20. zadina just shooting the puck right at the goalie is so frustrating.
  21. exactly. the current system is great for the owners now that they've figured it out. the other three american sports went through this same sort of debate with their employees and all came up with systems that guaranteed the players a share of the revenue and the owners a fixed ceiling on labor costs. baseball eschews that for a variety of reasons - mostly based on a century of abuse of the players by the owners and the distrust that comes from that. the current system was once a good thing for the players, but now they refuse to see how it should be scrapped to benefit everyone rather than just leaving open the possibility for the few mega contracts to continue to get higher. that said, it will now be really difficult for the players to get the owners to give up the advantages of having the players locked into below market contracts for 3 to 6 years. now that the owners have figured out how fungible players actually are. playoff expansion only adds to that.
  22. i think this recent stretch of games has served as an unfortunate but necessary reminder of just how far behind this franchise was when yzerman got here and just how far behind they remain. seider and raymond are great blocks. larkin is really good. bert is good player. i think vrana is really talented. the rest of the team is not good. there's youth in zadina and ras and veleno, but the rest of the squad is a long long way off. do we really spend on a #2 center and a top line defenseman this offseason? i cant see it. theyre still at least one more year away. we need someone (multiple someone's) like soderblum to be our brayden point. our guy who comes from nowhere to be a star. we need to do something like flipping zadina into sergachev like he did with another struggling top pick in drouin. unless we can pull those rabbits out of our hats, its going to be another year like this next year. but i have faith in SYGM. and i really hope to see berggren this year and edvinsson next year (and shane wright...)
  23. that would seemingly be silly. one would think if yzerman is involved it is to take on salary for a draft pick or two to facilitate another trade.
  24. do you think steve ballmer has recouped his $2 billion investment in the clippers yet?
