  1. i love the idea that white coaches are somehow given a bunch of leeway in the nfl now. that the giants just said, "you know what? joe judge is bad, but he's white so were gonna keep him." all coaches are fired very quickly in the nfl nowadays. black and white. and very few are re-hired after they fail.
  2. i dont know. he'll take the money. mcs, i do this for a living. its all about the money. especially for the attorneys who just got themselves a hundree million dollars.
  3. they will be. its all about the money, mcs. it always is.
  4. why is anderson's victims "just a start"? they and their lawyers got $500 million. that sounds like an awfully nice finish to me.
  5. war rewards durability, not surprising. and he played a good shortstop. he made the all star game every year of his career for god's sake, no matter whether he deserved it or not. i'll take gerhringer over ripken. from age 24-37 gehringer never had an ops+ below 100. ripken did five times. i might take scott rolen too. more consistent than ripken and a better fielder.
  6. kilian didnt make the rising stars game?
  7. i thought red hogs would have been pretty cool. commanders is fucking dumb.
  8. what a dumb name.
  9. 😉
  10. flores is currently interviewing for the saints job...
  11. its a class action! how many other coaches are going to throw their careers out the window and join this class? if they can even get a "class" certified. maybe coaches who are retired or too old or know they'll never work again?
  12. is flores that upset that he's costing himself the rest of his career? i mean, he may go back to the pats for bellichick, but the rest of the league isnt going to hire a guy who gets fired from one job and then sues everyone. who wants that type of guy in your organization? if anything, this sort of gives credence to the dolphins' rumors that he cant get along with people.
  13. obvious racism.
  14. "anti-racism" is a specific term used to denote the current cultural phenomenon that is making its way quite quickly from the academic world to the corporate world and common culture. its not enough to be "color blind" and to hire, promote, and treat people the same regardless of their background. people (and by people we mean only white people) must actively consciously be "anti-racist". because were all a bunch of racists holding back minorites. ask kendi.
  15. what would be evidence of "anti-racism"?
  16. right, but i dont think that's evidence of racism. is the complaint alleging that the giants are liable for "violating the rooney rule" or for discrimination on the basis of race?
  17. i get your point, and i havent read the whole complaint. but those text messages mean nothing, and the part of the complaint cited in that other tweet isnt evidence, its merely speculation on the part of the drafter.
  18. its like calling someone "chief", without the racism.
  19. i dont understand how that shows any racism.
  20. maybe youre right on gehringer. but i think the negro league numbers are very inflated.
  21. i think there is no doubt the best black players would have done well in the major leagues. i also think there is no doubt that the best white players would have done just as well or better in the negro leagues, simply because the player pool for the negro leagues was much smaller. but the only definitive evidence we have is the numbers we have and stories that come down to us, the veracity of which we dont really know. were oscar charleton and josh gibson better than ty cobb and charlie gehringer? we'll never know. all we can go on is what they did at the time they did it. and by those measures, they were not.
  22. second half of his career ops+: 93, 97, 107, 91, 102, 93, 89, 144, 95, 70. he was average to below average for most of the decade outside of a fluke season toward the end when he was platooning and playing a lot of dh. look, great player for sure. but he's a bit overrated because of the ironman streak and how much chris berman slobbered all over him constantly. i dont know how much better he was than derek jeter in the final analysis. and i would definitely rank him below gehringer.
  23. at least ranking between eras has generally the same universe of teams, games played, conditions of play, etc. there are a few differences in the ball over the years, but nothing like the differences between mlb and the negro leagues. and the pool of players for the negro leagues was much smaller. a lot of barnstorming more than a set league. not that there wasnt a set league for a lot of the history, but not for all of it. i dont think the two leagues were equal and that the mlb pool of players was much deeper, but both leagues were diminished by the absence of the other league's great players.
