  1. you gave up decent seconds in the luke trade (in order to get rid of an asset) and you got back garbage seconds (and gave up a former first round pick) to take on jordan's contract. i dont see why you think those arent bad deals. and honestly, it seems like you agree with me for the most part.
  2. hey, its jahlil okafor! who is now out of the league, just like i said he would be last year because he sucks.
  3. hell, let's draft 3 qbs next year cause then we might be able to trade them down the road for more picks to take more qbs! the lions have too many holes to do that.
  4. and mantha floating through the game as usual loses hronek on the first goal, allowing him to get behind him and set up erne.
  5. people dont care enough about the lions to do that. come on...
  6. pistons are now the only winless team in the nba.
  7. i just dont think harbaugh is the sharpest knife in the drawer. he's a football coach, not a philosopher king. most of these guys arent geniuses, theyre just former great athletes who can use motivational tools to get kids to play a game hard. harbaugh is bo 2.0 without the talent advantages bo had over 90% of the teams he played. not to take anything away from bo, but his inherent conservatism cost the team at least one national championship, and probably more than that in the big picture. part of that was the overrated nature of the big ten and the cockamamie way they determined a "national champion" in a sport where the best teams never played each other, but it is also a testament to bo being a really good coach. harbaugh is conservative to a fault too. look at the rutgers game. cant make it work? keep pounding away and dont turn the ball over. that's why mcnamera will stay the qb until and unless he starts to make mistakes or mccarthy really forces their hand. which wont come until next year. that's when mccarthy takes over and mcnamera leaves.
  8. i understand the sentiment of getting the lions to enter the exalted "loveable losers" area that the red sox and cubs occupied and profited off for years, but i dont think that will work with an nfl team. it is much less about nostalgia and history than baseball. maybe in another 30 or 40 years? but i dont see it. plus, they team itself will not want to be associated with losing like that. few brands would do that to themselves and their employees, exalting in their failure.
  9. i think mom pushed him out.
  10. had to attach four seconds to move luke? to a team that then signed him to a big extension? they obviously saw some value in him and still made you attach assets to move him. got a shit second round pick for derrick rose from the one team you knew would be desperate to want him (thibs' bulls fetish)? could only recoup meaningless late second round picks from brooklyn and gave up a former first rounder to take deandre jordan's albatross deal when almost no one else had space to take him? i mean, how bad are you at negotiating?
  11. and that's not even mentioning that we had to attach an asset to move plumlee's contract the year after he signed him. why? because we had to put luka garza on the team full time rather than let plumlee come off the bench? had to give up a second for that? had to re-sign corey joseph? macgruder? for what? all that veteran presence in guys who cant play just to tank anyway?
  12. i do too, although i think they've taken it to an extreme. but i prefer it to what weaver did. getting bey and stewart as solid players is good, but what else? paying grant and plumlee rather than maximizing cap space to take other people's problems and get assets attached? people make a big deal about "finding" and paying grant was such a great move. was it? in the long term what has grant provided? a good player on the second worst team in the league last season. a good player on what looks like a bottom 5 team this year. what is he providing to the team other than being a decent second or third option on a team that has no first option? if were tanking he is a hindrance, if were not tanking then what are we doing? again, this is all moot until we can see cade play, but i dont think weaver is maximizing this team's assets in the best fashion that benefits the team in the long term. the first thing he should be doing is clearing everything off the books, and getting as much value for grant as he can. instead, he seems intent to keep grant and sit him half the season in order to tank anyway. seems like a waste of an asset to me, just like the salary cap stretches are wastes of assets.
  13. if i watch cable news, its only because there is some world event going on somewhere that i want to see covered live, like when they stormed the white house, or election results. cnn seems like the best of them at covering those things.
  14. its not that he's a tight end, its that he's not the guys you listed. i would have jumped at kyle pitts even though he was listed as a tight end. but quinn took a lot of guys with high floors and low ceilings at positions that dont help you win games. like center and tight end and guard.
  15. the last time the lions bottomed out they went from 0-16 to 2-14 to 6-10. i suspect this is our equivalent of 0-16 and i think next year will be our 2-14 season. too many misses from quinn and a roster full of ordinary players. as for a qb, you just cant miss if you take one in round one. if they really think a pickett, or ridder or willis is worthy of a #1 pick, then by all means do it. but as of right now, it doesnt seem like anyone thinks that way. while we are early in the process, you usually start to hear a lot if hype by this point about top qb prospects being in the top pick conversations and youre just not hearing it this year.
  16. hockenson has been hurt and hasnt been that open, gets little separation, falls down when hit and doesnt make any big plays. he still seems like a good player who was overdrafted, imo. do you take a possession tight end in the top 10? i guess that's more of a criticism of quinn's talent acquisition process. ragnow is great but he's a center. hockenson is a nice possession receiver. flowers is a solid edge setting run defender. where are the playmakers or difference makers? we dont have any. golladay, i guess. but as were seeing in new york, that might be more to do with stafford than kenny g.
  17. diallo's shot is just ugly, arm is crooked out to the side. it will never be consistent. he's one of the only good nba athletes on the team, but his ceiling will forever be a poor man's tony allen. i assume joseph and macgruder are budding nba locker room presence all stars. hayes has to do a lot of things, but job 1 is getting in the gym and getting stronger. that just requires effort and a plan. cant really tell anything about this team until we see cade. looks god awful right now, but maybe they can reach the dizzying heights of "just awful" that we saw last year? btw, which rebuild style do you prefer: okc or det? teat it all down and accumulate future assets and picks, or tear it all down and acquire middling players and spend draft capital to move them for other middling players? they both seem to be in the same place right now.
  18. either way rob manfred will be embarrassed handing the trophy to either team, so i feel like i've already won.
  19. a $2 million fine by the league? ouch.
  20. convenient for the hawks as an excuse to get rid of bowman. i'm not saying he shouldnt have been forced out, i'm saying he was doing a bad job and this provides a different reason to let him go other than their poor start, hellish cap situation, and dim future. kinda hurts their stance in the lawsuit. but i guess that's why he "resigned" rather than being let go.
  21. they eat $20 million if they cut goff after next year, i dont think they do it. they also have $20 million wrapped up in flowers too. not to mention what vatai is making to play guard. thanks quinn.
  22. as of right now, i dont want the lions to take a qb at #1 this year. just wait. they can get thibodeaux and then a stud receiver late in the first, that would be perfect. maybe even pick up dax hill or a corner at the top of the second?
  23. colin kapernick wasnt all that great and hasnt played football in about 4 years. i know you want to make a political statement, but if youre an nfl gm, why would you sign him?
  24. illinois is being very aggressive.
  25. i'm taking immunosuppressants and am about to spend two weeks in an oklahoma courtroom. so if i dont make it back, its been a fun ride! 😉
