First of all, what a hilarious picture to use. Makes him look like a creepy uncle or something. But honestly I can see him being a successful assistant again, he just didn't have the juice to be a head coach for that Wings tenure it seemed like.

True, but luckily MBN is supposed to be a pretty good forechecker! I just hope we find someone somehow that isn't afraid to mix it up a little bit. I'm still annoyed that Utah ran Mrazek and not only was there no call the Wings just shrugged their shoulders and was like well that's life! From what I've seen MBN isn't shy about engaging other players especially when he's fired up.

Sounds like the Stars might be looking to move Robertson to get some cap space this offseason? Kinda surprising but they do have a lot of free agents and Harley will need a new deal after next season. I guess the Dumba and Lyubushkin deals aren't great for them? Oh I didn't realize it was this bad: "The Stars have less than $5 million in cap space for 2025-26 with 16 active roster players under contract." Will be interesting to see where Nill goes from here...

LETS GO! He had a really good year this last year across his season in Finland + WJC. I'm excited to see where he goes from here, probably at least one more season in Europe I imagine.

I don't think I recognize the names very much, but I did enjoy the Canadian announcers more when I was up in Winnipeg this year haha. In full transparency I tend to mute and listen to music with all the TNT / ESPN broadcasters so you can take my Bucci feelings with a grain of salt.

To me he talks like he's trying to be a zoomer or whatever and it gets old really quickly with me, but mostly I think he is absolutely awful when he calls games live. He has no flow to his speech, he interjects too many stupid asides about players in the middle of play (see buddha's post) and a lot of times it seems like he defaults to just saying the names of the player who has the puck without anything else so it just sounds like he's listing people off of rosters. In my mind ESPN clearly sees him as their worst PBP too because he seems to get saddled with awful broadcast partners and games. I liked him when ESPN only gave hockey a token like 8 minutes on Sportscenter with him talking because he seems genuinely passionate about it. As soon as he had to do any more he started to annoy me for whatever reason. I straight up mute broadcasts and listen to music if he's doing play by play.

Don Cherry, Barry Melrose and John Bucigross are all awful in my opinion. But each for different reasons.

Certainly not any interest for me...he'll turn 38 during next season and hasn't played in two seasons. I will admit I probably never rated him as high as most of the general public (a lot of Blackhawk hate in my blood) so maybe I am underestimating him. I could see the Jets signing him to bring home the hometown kid for the end of his career.

I believe the Wings wanted Holland to move on from GMing (for Yzerman?) and Holland said no. So I don't know if Nill was ever destined to hang around long enough until ownership forced Holland's hand. It seems like Kenny wanted to hang on as long as possible. Nill's a great GM but he's still won nothing in 12 years in Dallas🫣

I believe you're right about all the holdovers but I'm not 100%. Horcoff has been promoted by Yzerman too.

Chris was with Steve in Tampa Bay for like nine years it isn't like he just did a nepotism hire of someone who is unqualified for fun. He brought a decent amount of Tampa people with him. The dude that Chris "replaced" is now a coach in the Eastern Hockey League after not doing anything for a couple years, so if he was some sort of pro scouting savant he would have certainly been picked up by another NHL team. And it isn't like the Wings' scouting was lighting the world on fire under Holland. But hey it is an easy thing to get upset about if you don't bring any context I guess.

Especially ones done as the result of blatant bribery.
