  1. I feel like that's a lot for Newhook but I don't know his game too well
  2. I'm guessing there aren't many teams that he's willing to sign an extension with that can also fit that extension in under the salary cap. I also don't have a high opinion of Dorian so maybe he just sucks at getting bidding wars going.
  3. I'm seeing the rumor as a second round pick + a prospect around a little bit, seeing Mazur's name pop up a lot. I am probably just being a homer but I'm a little scared to give up Mazur I think he's going to be a good NHL player.
  4. Dorian had a press conference today and said he doesn't think the Senators are going to be able to move into this first round for this draft via trade, interesting.
  5. I am really enjoying Silo right now. I read the original short story years back and the show got me inspired to dive into the rest of the books. I've already outpaced the show by a wide margin so I'm looking forward to seeing how the tv adaption plays out.
  6. https://detroitsportsnation.com/rumor-detroit-red-wings-have-handshake-deal-in-place-to-acquire-alex-debrincat/wgbrady/red-wings/detroit-red-wings-news/06/26/2023/414891/ I don't feel like it is very likely this blog has a plugged in source like this but I am bored so the claim is: Our source indicated that the Red Wings would send Filip Zadina, the No. 17 overall pick, and either one of Detroit’s second-round picks this year or Boston’s first-rounder next year to the Senators in exchange for DeBrincat. That being said, there is a catch to this trade going down. According to the source, for the trade to happen, the deal is contingent on two things. “One being that a certain unknown prospect must be available for Ottawa to pick at 17, and the second being that an extension has to be agreed upon with DeBrincat, which shouldn’t be terribly hard to accomplish because Detroit is on his list of desired cities to play in.” I could see this being plausible but it just feels like the blogger is making it up using the available public info from actual insiders.
  7. Kinda wild that Lashoff jumped directly into an AHL assistant gig Hall talked a lot about wanting to play for a contender so my guess is Detroit was on his no trade list. Sucks for him Chicago wasn't, he's really played on a ton of bad teams in his career and he finally landed with a contender and gets traded away after having a solid playoff series.
  8. I would say leaning A as well, though Michkov is super tempting. I really wish the Wings had a top 5 pick this draft.
  9. That's definitely understandable and I agree with your assessment of Yzerman. It is a tough call overall because you have to give a long contract to him too. I feel like it is a worthy gamble myself but I have no idea what the trade market really is. I didn't consider the conditional part with the prospects honestly, could see some truth to that and deals getting done on the draft floor. My guess with Friedman is that there are so many moving parts between the Sens side of the trade and negotiating with DeBrincat's agent that some info is slipping out not from the Detroit side. I am really hungry for anything to happen here, I thought the Flyers / Blues trade or Kings getting PLD was going to happen then nothing so far.
  10. LOL no argument from me! If Ottawa would take a future top 10/15 protected first rounder too I would be even more over the moon, it seems like the first round of this current draft is pretty solid. Hopefully stuff starts happening this week with the draft on tap.
  11. I also didn't realize this but it makes sense, DeBrincat spent his last season on the second line with his center being a rookie in Shane Pinto. Tough to play over Tkachuk I guess. Moving to a new team and a new system and having his role diminished playing with lesser players, I'm kinda shocked he put up as many points as he did. He isn't a flawless player but he's still valuable to a team I would think. I can't wait to see what DeBrincat gets traded for because it feels like it could be all over the spectrum and I really don't know what to expect.
  12. Both Marek and Friedman said on their podcast they expect DeBrincat to end up in Detroit, one hold up is that Yzerman doesn't like the full term of DeBrincat's desired contract.
  13. This is an absolutely wild comparison. DeBrincat shot the second lowest shooting percentage of his career with his worst PDO. His average time on ice dropped almost two minutes a game too, a pretty large chunk. His underlying possession numbers were still really good and he put up 66 points and 27 goals on his "bad" season. People acting like he's a bum at 25 years old after an unlucky season is crazy to me. I definitely agree his trade value is seriously diminished because he needs a long term deal that not many teams can afford and he told Ottawa he won't re-sign there, but I think y'all are going too hard on this idea that he is a nobody away from Patrick Kane. Kane's points seriously dropped away from DeBrincat (35 point decrease!) so where's the argument that Kane needed DeBrincat? I'm trying to find the other players that Kane beefed up points-wise on the Blackhawks last season before his trade to New York and I am also coming up empty there. Surely if DeBrincat was just a product of Kane someone would have stepped in and taken his place?
  14. I would be shocked if Cross Hanas moved the needle more than Zadina (or at all) for any team. FWIW it is Frank Seravalli who floated the rumor that he doesn't think the Sens will be able to get a significant roster player and that Zadina is the best they can do. So I've just been building off of that for my ideas.
  15. Elliotte Friedman (who is on record saying that he hates floating Red Wings rumors so I usually perk up when he mentions Detroit) wondered on his last podcast if Detroit is one of the teams checking in on Konecny from the Flyers. 26 years old, 2 years left on his deal at $5.5 million a year. 61 points in 60 games on a really bad Flyers team last year is pretty impressive, though he doesn't seem to be consistent points-wise throughout his career. I thought he was a little bigger than he is, but it might not be a bad "budget" option for a trade.
  16. Today ESPN proposed 17, Mazur and Vancouver's second round pick the Wings own this draft for DeBrincat
  17. New theoretical trades from me for fun... Debrincat for Zadina and a future top 10 protected first round pick, throw in a later pick at some point if it helps get it done PLD for this draft's two first round picks, Berggren and Wallinder I don't actually love the idea of acquiring PLD. He's a really good player but he seems...moody and it will cost a lot if you have an extension in place with him I'm sure. If he would want to be in Detroit then I would trust Yzerman's read but he has been a headache for both the franchises he's played for so far. I wonder how much this opening up of the PLD sweepstakes is the Jets trying to make Montreal pay more. edit the more I think about it that's too much for PLD I think. Maybe if Hellybuyk wants to be here he could get included. I feel pretty good about the DeBrincat one.
  18. Put in Osgood now you cowards! I have been watching a ton of old Red Wings footage on awood's youtube and it is making me appreciate Osgood a lot, he had some really big moments for the team. I'm all for him getting in the hall after originally being ambivalent about it.
  19. The rumor I've seen is that only Detroit and Nashville from his list have cap space for him, but who knows how accurate the info is as far as teams approved.
  20. I wonder how true this is or if it is the other teams negotiating via the media. I would be shocked if they couldn't get Beggren over Zadina in this scenario (or didn't want that).
  21. I remember being very confused about that trade for Vancouver. Garland is a solid player and they were able to dump some overpaid players, but the players they gave up all only had one year left on their contracts I think. OEL had been pretty bad in Arizona already and that contract was ugly. Giving up 9th overall to make it happen was a real head scratcher for me.
  22. I largely agree with you here but this was also right after Rasmussen's season ending injury I think, and that was a huge blow to the team. I hope he picks up next season where he left off preinjury as he does a lot of positive things for the team and would be a huge boost to get back. He isn't going to take on the Sens all by himself but the Wings definitely missed him. Hopefully him + some graduating prospects can accelerate their timeline a bit.
  23. 4 more years of Karlsson with a NMC would be tough to stomach, I wonder what the retention and the rest of the deal would look like
