I haven't seen it decided anywhere either. I assumed Ned was the "1" based on the preseason schedule, I'm guessing with the back to back Lalonde is preaching that neither is the starter since both would play no matter what.

Looks like they are sending Cossa to Toledo. I'm a little surprised but the Griffins should have a solid team so I guess they would rather him start a bunch in Toledo than split time with a vet in the AHL.

It definitely isn't a plus. It sounds like both he and Suter will be in the lineup next game based on Lalonde's comments.

To me, Putin/Russia says a lot of stuff that is posturing. In the end I think that they have too much pride and want to show off their players at the NHL level. He has to be over the moon that Overchkin is in position to break Gretzky's record. My complete guess is that they'll continue to let players who play nice with the Russian system to do their thing. Buch played a little with the Russian team for his age group so my guess is he'd be looked on favorably right now. In the end this is all just complete guesses from me while bored on a work call. SKA is also Putin's favorite team I think so maybe he doesn't want to lose one of their potential stars and I'm wrong haha.

I think buddha is right in that no one really knows. He probably needs a season or two over there anyways. I would err on the side of there not being issues outside of a contract if he wants to go to the NHL because it seems like Russia opts to cater to athletes more so than not in my opinion. I also have no idea what his contract with SKA is like. If he doesn't say anything against Putin/the government I imagine he will be able to do as he pleases but I'm no expert!

This is like the ECHL equivalent I guess? He played a game in the VHL below the KHL and got an assist, then went down to the MHL below that (VHL had a few off days) and he put up 5 points in his first game there. I kinda love that SKA is moving him around so he just keeps playing. Have to think he's building confidence too. Exciting stuff so far.

I'm fine with any of those three and it doesn't seem like Sunny is going to be ready to start the season anyways. Hell I would try to move Suter or just even send Veleno back to the AHL. If it were me I would figure out a way to get him in the lineup but that's just me. Cossa got sent to the Griffins today, interested to see how he does.

It looked like to me that Soderblom knocked the wind out of him at the very least, the defender tried to move towards Elmer before the backhand and he wasn't moving well at all. I've noticed a few times Elmer puts his entire body into checks on the forecheck and the defenders really feel it. I would be shocked if he doesn't make the team honestly, he excels in little areas that can help teams a lot it seems like.

My guess is Larkin is gone only if he tells Detroit that he either doesn't want to be there or asks for crazy money....which both seem possible but with it not being wrapped up already my gut is saying he is gone in some way or the other after this season.

Random thought, I'm a little disappointed that Albert Johansson didn't get a longer look to make the team but it was a tall order to make the team for sure. He didn't force his way on at all but I wouldn't have minded him getting these looks Edvinsson is getting too.

I honestly wouldn't mind having Edvinsson work out the kinks and get his timing down in the NHL or at least try it out, but I also see the argument to start him in the AHL and have him just log heavy minutes. It is interesting to me that they're skating him on the would be third pairing, I would figure it would be top 4 or skating with the extras but maybe they're considering him making the club in a learn on the job role.
