  1. Is this compared to the first third of last year or all of last year? Home runs usually increase in the summer. If it's a real change, then it's a good one.
  2. I was even more surprised by Haas.
  3. I don't remember Porcello throwing a Maddux. I remember him throwing a lot of Porcellos (6 IP/ 3 ER).
  4. That's what I heard too.
  5. It's been a rough series. This is the first time since the opening series versus the Dodgers that Tigers fans have been brought back to reality. They've got a good team, but it's not going to be all magic all the time.
  6. Should of signed with the Tigers. They never get hurt.
  7. That's what I mean about having too narrow of a role. I was arguing that he's not a black hole, not that I think they should keep him on the roster.
  8. I am not saying they should keep him on the roster, just that I don't consider him a black hole. If he could play in the field, it would be easier to deal with his extreme platoon split.
  9. Versus LHP or RHP? I don't know the splits by month, but overall he is still .421 vs LHP/ .245 vs RHP.
  10. My preferred AI tool - Perplexity - says that grok gives incorrect answers 94% of the time.
  11. He has a lifetime OBP of .417 versus LHP. That makes him an effective pinch hitter versus lefties, but that is too narrow of a role in 2025.
  12. They have also made cuts to services for people with disabilities. But they have enough money where they can cut taxes for the wealthy and give their baby dictator a 40 million dollar birthday party.
  13. Yeah, that sucks even more than seeing SLG versus off speed pitchers to introduce the starting line-up.
  14. I don't like when they introduce the starting line-up with something random like SLG for each batter versus off speed pitches. It throws me off because at the beginning of the game I am expecting to see their overall stats. Specific numbers like SLG versus off pitches is something they can do in the middle of the game to make a specific point.
  15. Rosenthal did not suggest that trade. AlaskanTigersfan did!
  16. I don't like it. I had Covid once and for me it felt like just a cold. However, if I get covid whem I am teaching, then I have to teach on zoom for a week which sucks.
  17. Bibee is a talented pitcher. He was bound to turn it around sooner or later. Too bad he picked the Tigers tonight
  18. The current favorites are Nashville and Salt Lake City. I'm still hoping for Montreal.
  19. I am thinking more nationally, but sports are followed so much differently now than when I was a kid. Young fans don't sit and watch entire games anymore. They have their fantasy teams and their bets and they have access to any game and any highlight they want, so they jump around from game to game or just follow social media for highlights. Baseball is difficult because it's not exciting. In a world of short attention spans, the nature of baseball doesn't grab a lot of attention. This is why they will never do anything to cut down on homers and strikeouts.
  20. Even Trout didn't get hyped much in his prime. Baseball has never been good about marketing players.
  21. And hopefully they don't sell every player that's good.
  22. Too early to worry about that. I just want them to keep winning. If they don't win enough and it gets close late in the season, then I'll worry about what other teams are doing.
  23. It sounds like you have a fun family. No MAGAs in my family. Most people in my family don't give a **** about politics. I didn't either until the country elected an authoritarian moron as their president.
  24. He's neither Democrat nor Republican. He only cares about himself. I know you know that.
  25. I agree fully on your first point. There are very few players who can succeed long-term when they have no ability to get on base via walks. As for pitching staff management, that is kind of an unknown to fans, but I think it's an important consideration. The pitching does not seem to have suffered under Dingler. However, given how well the Tigers staff of chaos did last year and given how important Rogers apparently was to their success, I can see where they might weight his defense heavily in any platoon. I am confident that Hinch will get it right.
