I (and I think eswieg) was arguing that they have access to other documents which they are are not allow to share or maintain and probably have less leeway than higher level people.

I thought it might be a good idea for them to pursue Martinez before they signed Canha, but there is no role for him now. Martinez is little better hitter than Canha, but Canha gives them more flexibility.

Yes, it would have and that is a problem throughout our entire legal sysem. I think it is pretty much accepted that higher ups can get away with things that lower level people can not. I also believe there are informally agreed upon parameters (among the elites) as to how far they are allowed to go. A lot of it has to do with convenience and efficiency, but it sure opens up the possibility for carelessness and ill inent.

Trump has given me no reasons to like him in over 40 years. I will never say anything good about him. I will criticize his enemies including Biden, but I don't think Biden comes anywhere close to his level on committing crimes.

I also don't know if they would have developed under Avila's system. I don't know that they wouldn't have though and they aren't fully developed until they succeed in the majors. Having experienced the Randy Smith era Tigers (and I know many others here also remember that time), it's just hard for me to see Avila as the abject failure he's been made out to be.

Thanks, I thought what Henning said was accurate and non-controversial. Bascally, Avila inherited a mess, did some things which will help the current and future Tigers, but had weaknesses in some areas - including the same areas where the Tigers have been weak for most of the last three decades. Now, Harris needs to take them to the next level and seems to have the ability to do so.
