  1. The Blue Jays and Mariners have very good teams with young stars and would have gotten even better with Ohtani. They are not loser teams. You've been pushing the idea for years that nobody will sign with the Tigers because they are not a winner, but I don't think it applies here.
  2. I don't know about lawsuits, but if the Dodgers defer a sustantial portion of the contract so that they can avoid going over the tax threshold each year, I can see other teams getting upset. I won't pretend to know what the CBA says about that, but it could be viewed as going against the spirit of the CBA.
  3. Add Ohtani and the Blue Jays and Mariners are likely to make the playoffs. I really doubt he chose the Dodgers because they are more of a winner than those teams. It's not like they are the Athletics. I think he signed with the closest to home west coast team that offered him the most money. If the Dofgers offered 650 million and the Mariners offered 700 million, which team do you think he would have chosen?
  4. 750 million probably would have been enough. But if he really wants to win, then Toronto or Seattle would have been good choices. I doubt they offered him 700 million though.
  5. I think the length is OK. The risk is that he getting paid as if he is two players and the the pitcher have may have peaked already.
  6. Either that or he wanted 700 million.
  7. 700 million for a guy with a torn UCL. That doesn't sound smart.
  8. yeah, this seems to be a problem all over the media. Media, in general, is losing credibility fast.
  9. It's too bad. I liked him as a Tigers writer and his first several years as a national writer. At least he apologized for his mistake yesterday.
  10. The idea that Trump is going to cheat in 2024 using tactics that he accused the Democrats of using is not news. I've assumed along that he's going to try it. In fact, he most likely tried it in 2020.
  11. You have to understand that Republicans see illegal gun possession and tax evasion as good things.
  12. Tigers sign a free agent!
  13. So, that's what this is all about.
  14. yes, and they are tracking you right now.
  15. They may be true "believers" but it doesn't mean that they have Christian values which is dangerous.
  16. It looks like Ohtani is a Blue Jay
  17. This is what my previous post was about. I don't think most of these congresspeople give a **** about religion, but they'll pretend to be religious to get votes, maintain power and pick your pocket or someone's picket.
  18. I don't know about broken legs, but there is good chance they'll try to pick your pocket.
  19. It seems that Rodriguez got exactly the deal his agent supposedly asked for to make the trade happen.
  20. Making the team better through player transactions is part of his job, so it's logical to think it could have been his fault. That is not part of Rodriguez's job.
  21. Eduardo Rodriguez owes nothing to fans. It sucks that we didn't get our prospects, but he did what he felt was right for himself which is what most (if not all) of us would do when deciding where to work and how much money we make. If I was going to blame anyone it might be Harris. Maybe, he could have figured something out earlier, but I don't know that he didn't try so I don't blame him either.
  22. He and Chafin can both play close to home!
  23. yeah, maybe they see something that doesn't show up in the stats, but the stats themselves don't suggest that he belongs in the majors. How many of these minor league rule 5 guys ever spend any significant time in the majors? I don't follow it, but I imagine it's a fairly low percentage.
  24. He has a pretty low k rate for a minor league reliever. Those guys don't usually have success in the majors.
  25. Is next year the year Reyes finally hits for power?
