  1. I am not sure that a writer seeing the Tigers as a good fit for a pitcher with a 5.27 FIP is progress. 😀
  2. So, McDonalds is the best restaurant in the United States.
  3. It's still subjective. Just because a form of entertainment is more popular does not make it better for all fans. I think the more popular a sport becomes the worse it gets for hardcore fans. Baseball becomes worse for me almost every time they do something to attract casual fans.
  4. I do too, but I still don't have any idea whether they will spend enough to sustain what the Braves are doing. I don't know that they won't either.
  5. The risk of having a high payroll is not the fan's problem. If a team commits to a high payroll ,long-term, that is a good thing for fans. If they go wild for a year or two and then cut back, that would be a problem, but that is not what fans are hoping fior.
  6. I don't want either scenario, but I'd probably take the Rays. Leaving the super wealthy teams out of it, I want the Tigers to be more like the Braves or Cardinals. That's hard to do, but I would hope that is who they emulate.
  7. I don't know. The Dodgers do more things right than any team in baseball and still have won a real World Series since 1988. I think it's a crap shoot.
  8. I would not want the Tigers to turn into the Rays. It would certainly be more entertaining than the last eight years, but it wuld be less enjoyable than a team that keeps its core together long term.
  9. Cabrera is going to play one more season. Best shape of his life.
  10. If that's the case, then just put all the teams in the playoffs. Just use the regular season for fantasy and gambling.
  11. I bet he laughs at his idiot followers every night.
  12. I was interested in him early, but I didn't expect them to really pursue him especially after the Canha acquisition. Looks like he got a good deal for himself. I am not good at guessing these things, but it seems better than expected.
  13. I also don't give a **** about the NFL, but in general I don't think parity makes a league better. Parity can be boring. I like it when the are good and bad franchises. I also like it when a franchise that has been bad for a long time becomes good. It's a much more intriguing story line than every team is the same and a random team wins every year. Of course, that isn't what happens, but it seems to be the ultimate goal of parity. I think the NFL is more popular because it's easier to follow with a shorter season and only one game per week. They also market the sport better. I don't think parity has that much to do with it.
  14. Upton wasn't really like Zimmermann. His first year was bad until his hot finish. He had a .904 OPS in his scond year with the Tigers before he got traded.
  15. OK, I am now reading the same thing. Apparently about 45 million per year goes towards the luxury tax calculation even though he doesn't get it until later. I guess I don't get to agree with KL2 anymore. 😀
  16. That was my impression too.
  17. Wait until you see the waiver claim Harris makes this week. It will blow your mind.
  18. Harris continues to make the safe low risk moves. Shreve was in the mark down bin with all the crap nobody wants to buy. Fortunately, he stole his neighbor's Amazon mail on his way home and got Holton.
  19. He doesn't want to win though.
  20. OK, You're right. The 700 million had nothing to do wih it.
  21. As are the Mariners and Blue Jays organizations.
