  1. Sure, they'll live to 85 or 90 and they'll spend the last 10 years on expensive medication and long-term care. They won't be sble to afford it. Who's going to pay for that?
  2. ChatGTP describing a fight between Biden and Trump in the voice of Kerouac: If I were to describe a fight between Donald Trump and Joe Biden in the voice of Jack Kerouac, it might go something like this: There they were, man, two old cats, faces twisted in anger, ready to tear each other to shreds. Trump, he was all bluster and bravado, like he was trying to prove something, you know? Biden, he was more reserved, like he was just waiting for the right moment to strike. The crowd was going wild, man. They were shouting and hollering, like they were at some kind of gladiator match. But I could see it in their eyes, man, that they were hungry for blood. And then it happened. Trump made a move, and Biden was on him like a tiger. They were grappling and punching, man, throwing wild haymakers and trying to take each other down. It was brutal, man, like something out of a movie. They were both bleeding and bruised, but they just kept coming, like they were fueled by some kind of primal energy. And then, just as suddenly as it had started, it was over. They were both lying on the ground, panting and gasping for breath. The crowd was silent, like they couldn't believe what they had just seen. I don't know who won, man. I don't think anyone did. All I know is that it was a dark moment, a moment when the violence and anger that simmered just below the surface of our society boiled over into something truly ugly. And I hope to God we never have to see anything like it again.
  3. I asked ChatGTP to explain why Parker Meadows should start for the Tigers in the style of John Steinbeck: Regenerate response Regenerate response
  4. I agree the early 90s Tigers were a fun team. If they have to be mediocre, I'll take that form of mediocre.
  5. The Tigers are second in OPS and 21st in ERA this Spring. Imagine if their hitters come through and their pitching fails. Spring stats mean almost nothing, but it could happen!
  6. Justyn Henry Malloy I am not calling him JHen.
  7. I have blocked a lot of MAGAs including Musk and MTG, but others keep re-tweeting them. I also muted all the people that have been saying for 7 years that Trump is in trouble, going to be indicted, going to jail. It used to give me hope, but it now just depresses me because I know it will never happen.
  8. You could say the same about Carpenter or a number of other players vying for a spot on the roster. Pretty much the entire roster is an unknown and it won't be known until they play real games. I'd rather see a player do well in Spring training than not, but spring training performance is lowly correlated with regular season performance.
  9. I am more interested in projected OBP, but Carpenter's projected power overrides what slight projected advantage Baddoo might have there. The bigger question is defense. Despite his poor throwing arm, I believe Baddoo will be a better more versatile defender.
  10. Hold off until the 12th and call it a tie at that point. Doing it at all is bad, but 12th is better than the 10th.
  11. I sometimes encounter Substack when I am doing searches for work. I wouldn't expect most people to know what it is. I am not even sure what it is other than an occasional source of obscure Stata commands and how to use them.
  12. They are the most disgraceful collection of human beings I have seen. I am not talking the followers. They are just being manipulated. I am talking about the higher ups who hang with Trump.
  13. It is true I don't trust any national level politician. They ALL lie frequently. Some are worse than others. Some have lines they won't cross. Others have no respect for the truth at all.
  14. What if you don't like any of them?
  15. I believe inflation and low unemployment have been caused by different reasons than past inflation and unemployment. In regards to unemployment, I think the pandemic caused a lot of people to leave the work force for early retirement. A lot of other people have changed jobs to take advantage of remote opportunities and gig jobs. It's going to take a while before everything settles down.
  16. As someone who works at a university, I would bet that the university benefitted more from this than she did. I would think that there were a limited number of qualified candidates and perhaps no Native Americans applied. We don't usually get Native America applicants where I work (which might be a recruiting problem). Regardless, given all the horrible things that politicians have done over the years, this ranks as pretty minor. It's the only thing they could find to personally smear her, so they have milked it as much as possible.
  17. Your post wasn't obviously sarcasm, because I've heard others say what she did was horrible while making excuses for some of the most vile disgusting policians out there. I like sarcasm, but I sometimes have a really difficult time distinguishing between when you are being serious and when you are being sarcastic. Sometimes you go back and forth between the two in the same post. What Warren did definitely happened, but I still maintain it was pretty minor compared to other politicians. I guess the fact that they keep pointing to the same thing with her over and over again indicates that she hasn't done a lot of bad things. It's like Obame and the 52 states quote. Trump got criticized for saying something stupid almost every day of his presidency and the retort was always what Obama and the 52 states.
  18. Right, he likes revenge and attention. When are people going to figure out that he is insane and isn't going to think this through rationally?
  19. I love when people talk about Trump as if he is a rational person, LOL. As far as funding, he'll just start some Save America Fund and continue to grift his supporters as he has for 7 years.
  20. That is something we can agree upon. There might even be some emerging candidates to change things. I'm not counting on that, but I hope so.
  21. That already happened.
  22. Her accomplishments before getting the Harvard job were real too. The narrative that she stole a job from an Indian and completely changed her life is false.
  23. Either Trump or DeSantis. Under different circumstances, it would be interesting to watch, but I think you are right that it would be dangerous.
  24. Santos has lied about every aspect of his life. He is a complete fraud. Warren lied about one thing to get some small advantage which she probably didn't need. Warren was an accomplished economist and professor before she checked off the Indian box. It was a stupid thing to do, but it's been blown way out of proportion.
  25. Part of the "problem" with Clinton is that she is a woman. It's a lot easier to carry personal baggage if you are a man than a woman. We expect a woman to be good and kind and honest at all times and if she gets away from that at all, then she's a "bitch". If a man behaves like a bad boy, other men tend to overlook it and might even view it as a strength. Look what they have done to Elizabeth Warren (who I think is more likeable than Clinton) over the Native American thing. If any man did the same thing, it wouldn't be such a big deal. It might even be viewed as shrewd. This man versus woman thing is often overdone, but it's also real
