  1. Why are you shocked? Not everyone knows how google earth and balloons work. There might even be things about the world that you don't know. Thanks for your response though.
  2. Why was everybody so worked up about a balloon when Google earth is already photographing the entire world 24 hours a day and making the results available on the internet?
  3. It could be reality. Expanded playoffs for sure, gambling for sure and they have even discussed home runs deciding tie games.
  4. They'll fix it with further expanded playoffs, gambling and home run derby replacing extra innings.
  5. I definitely don't trust big pharma. I don't always trust the agencies, but I do trust some of the people who work there (the ones that actually do the work). I know a few of them through work.
  6. Johnson's career splits suggested that he hit well with RISP and in close games.
  7. Two things I never trust is making important decisions: (1) media (2) anecdotes. not necessarily in that order.
  8. I assume you are talking about Fox News, which is the most popular media outlet in the country.
  9. Sounds like it was a good opportunity for a platoon, something that Anderson did often.
  10. I imagine my hero from that period Ron Leflore would have disappointed. Not Mark Fidrych though. Long after he retired, he once gave a talk during a youth baseball training session. I met him briefly afterward. He was exactly as I expected the whole time - humble and flakey.
  11. Jason Thompson was another one in that group and I hated the Al Cowens trade.
  12. None of the previous two anecdotal examples proves anything. In general, it's been proven that Edman's approach works better than Biff's approach, but people respond differently to Covid and the vaccines. I am glad Biff was one of the lucky ones.
  13. I am not sure why I included Gibson. You are right that he belongs in the 74-78 group with Parrish, Whitaker, Trammell, Morris and Petry. What an amazing haul! Howard Johnsion was in 79 and he should have been part of that group too. That was the period where I was falling in love with the game and I though it was always going to be that easy.
  14. So, the balloon has been shot down. Biden is now a tough guy.
  15. When you bring Scott Livingstone into a conversation about player development successes in the past 45 years, you know something is wrong.
  16. The next best infielder is Scott Lingstone. You could put him at third base, move Fryman to shortstop and Santiago to the bench.
  17. Position players who were drafted or originally signed by the Tigers since 1978 who had 5+ WAR for the Tigers: 20+ WAR Kirk Gibson Travis Fryman Bobby Higginson Curtis Grandersion 10-19 WAR Brandon Inge Alex Avila Tony Clark 5-9 WAR Nick Castellanos Omar Infante Ramon Santiago Milt Cuyler https://stathead.com/baseball/player-batting-season-finder.cgi?request=1&match=player_season_combined&order_by_asc=0&order_by=b_war&year_min=1980&year_max=2022&comp_type=reg&team_id=DET&exactness=anymarked&games_min_max=min&minpasVal=502&mingamesVal=100&season_start=1&season_end=-1&weight_min=0&weight_max=500&location=pob&locationMatch=is&date_type=dob&date_comp=%3D&month_val=0&day_val=0&year_val=0&year_debut_min=1978&num_franchises_comp=gt&all_stars_comp=gt
  18. Never gets old. I don't remember why he said that. I am really hoping he loses the nomination bid and runs as an independent. The all his supporters get to see a Democrat land slide because their hero only cares about himself.
  19. That makes sense. They had almost the exact same number of at bats for Detroit, but Suarez wasn't good yet. One could argue that he wouldn't have developed as well had he stayed with Tigers.
  20. Definitely one of my top moments as a Tigers fan. Maybe because I was younger then, but this is even more memorable than the Ordonez homer for me.
  21. I think they both count. The return doesn't really matter as far as ability to develop players.
  22. There's one point for Law.
  23. Social media engagement is fun. Sometimes they alert me to things that I haven't been watching, but I don't expect them to be accurate all the time. They are really no different than us here.
  24. I'll add Alex Avila. There are a few others, but you are right it's been going on for a long time.
  25. I hope Todd Jones' commentary is better than the peanut butter knife stories he wrote for the Detroit News.
