  1. I think that's the cycle of life! Many of the boomers started out as anti-establishment hippies and then as they got older they realized they couldn't change the world and had to be part of the system to some extent in order to survive and they got more realistic. It will happen again with the younger generations. I also think we knew there would be consequences of boomers returing en masse at some point and now we are seeing it, probaby sped up by Covid.
  2. All good points. In reference to your first point, I think a lot of boomers were hanging onto their jobs for a few more years before retiring, but Covid convinced them it wasn't worth it.
  3. Labor shortage is a huge problem, but I think the reason for the shortage is more complicated than what you are suggesting. Even states that didn't give the unemployment boost have shortages. I think Covid convinced a lot of low payed employees that kept working during Covid that they weren't appreciated, so they are looking for better jobs. It also made people in the service industry not want to come back until they believe Covid is under control. Then there are older people with a lot of money saved who decided to quit because they saw how unstressful it was not having to work.
  4. Especially when it's Reagan.
  5. So, inflation is back to what it was in the Reagan era. Are you saying that Reagan was a bad president?
  6. I think Trump would beat Biden now, but not just because of Biden. Biden beat Trump in 2020, not because left and center consolidated around Biden, but because people hated Trump and came out to vote in record numbers to get him out of their lives. Now, Trump is in the background and some are forgetting what a horrible person he is.
  7. I think presidents have very little impact on inflation or the economy in general. They get way too much credit and way too much blame. They are kind of like baseball managers that way.
  8. Wait a minute... NLRB? What about the ALRB?
  9. It attacks federal employees because they are lazy and useless.
  10. It is great you've been in that league for so long! Is it still most of the same people?
  11. Hiura has a bit more power but his K rate is ridiculously high. He won't have a job if he can't cut back on strikeouts. Biggio has a better K rate and also walks a lot
  12. This is perfect. I am picturing you typing madly with Fox news blaring on a black and white TV in the background. Your wife just brought you another beer.
  13. Judging from the perople who call themselves patriots these days, I think lots of people don't know what it means to be a patriot. The word has been soiled in recent years.
  14. I just became a huge Nick Kuzia fan! He pitched for UMass Lowell where I spent a dozen years as a student and later a teacher. Not many UML grads make the majors. If he can pull it off, he'll be #7.
  15. It's seems that lots of people here don't agree with you that nobody cares/remembers anybody who finished second.
  16. Everything from 2011-2014 kinds of blends together for me. They had very good seasons and great players, but there isn't one season that stands out from the others like 2006
  17. I have great Tigers memories from 76, 87, 06, etc and many of my great memories of 84 came before the World Series started.
  18. Not yet. It's still early.
  19. The owners are evil caricatures, but the players are not saints.
  20. 70 BB in 80 IP for Eric Pinales There's your hard throwing right hander with no command.
  21. They are wrong. Torkelson is going to be better. Bold prediction: Torkelson will be Rookie of the Year. Greene will struggle in his first season.
  22. Yes, it is, although we have learned to take minor league fielding assessments with a grain of salt.
  23. He rarely even gets excited. Never mind "very" or "incredibly".
