    The players don't want it though. It's something which they think will make their job harder.

    yeah, I know. I say the same thing. It's not really true, but bad moves are more memorable than good ones.

    I think the pitch clock should be good for the game, but it's something owners wanted and not the players. The owners don't do things for the "good of the game". They do things to make money which may or may not end up being good for the game.

    There are quite a few changes being made from which the owners will benefit such as expanded playoffs and pitch clocks and the ability to make other rule changes quickly.

    They are going to have sponsorship patches on uniforms. That sounds like another thing I won't like. Hopefully, they will be small.

    I honestly don't care about the CBT or any of that financial stuff. The difference between what the two sides want is not going to affect me as a fan. I want to hear about the playoffs, the pitch clock and the shift.

    It could be. I am just pointing out that I don't agree with the assumption that parity is always good.

    I think there is also a limit to how much parity is good. I think there can be too much. I think it's good for a league if there are some teams that are perennially successful. It shouldn't be impossible to beat them, but dynasty type teams that everyone wants to beat is a good thing.

    This is the price of gas adjusted for inflation and average miles per gallon of automobiles. Opinion: The price of gasoline isn't really at a record high. In fact, the inflation-adjusted cost of driving a mile was higher for most of the past century - MarketWatch So, it's going up, but it's been a lot worse in the past.

    Not everyone can do it easily, but there have definitely been eras when more than a few hitters could use the field better and eras where it would be conducive to winning. I think deadening the ball would change things a lot, but it's not going to happen.

    I agree. I just hate seeing people say stuff that isn't true when we already have more than enough true stuff we can throw at them.

    GLD/SLV are both doing great. I wish I went more into commodoties, but I am too conservative to abandon my mostly passive investing.

    It's not easy, but there have always been players who could do it. It's not conducive to winning because the whole game is designed for home runs now. They could deaden the ball, but they don't want to. Removing the shift is not going to change that. Players will keep swinging for the fences.
