  1. Players that draw walks age better than players who don't because that's a skill that doesn't deteriorate fast. Fielding skill also tends to go quicker than hitting skill. He does have an unusual skill set though, so it's hard to find comparisons. For what it's worth (not a lot), the most similar batter at the same age was Jonathan Schoop.
  2. I suspect Baez won't age well, but I doubt he'll lose power.
  3. yeah, I don't think it's safe to say any of them have been dismissed. All that is really safe to say is that they are pursuing free agent shortstops.
  4. Getting mad at Bonds and Clemens for PEDs is like getting mad at Amazon. Amazon is doing the same crappy stuff other companies do and we are supposed to get upset because they are better at it. Same with Bonds and Clemens. All the players were talking PEDs and this was known long before Bonds broke records.
  5. I'm still not sure what crypto is and why it has become such a big deal. I've read about it in a few different places and I don't really get it.
  6. They probably shouldn't be, but MLB's hypocritical relationship with gambling is making me reconsider. The logical thing would be to punish MLB for promoting gambling on the game, but that is obviously not going to happen.
  7. The Trump family is the most amoral corrupt political family I have ever seen and that's saying a lot. There is nothing good about any of them.
  8. America has always looked to itself first regardless who the president is. America First is just populist BS. When we do things for other countries, the intent is to ultimately help the United States in some way. How does calling it South African variant make anything easier? We still have to deal with it the same way.
  9. Mets also signed Canha to a two-year deal.
  10. i am generally skeptical of people who speak with confidence on twitter.
  11. I think it's all very complex. It is difficult to say definitively when life starts. I don't know if there is a magical point where I can say for sure where a fetus becomes a person. I probably sound strongly pro-choice, but I am actually ambivalent. I certainly don't think abortion is a positive thing, but I'd rather give women a reasonable interval in which to make a decision. I will add that I think some people who call themselves Christians also pick and choose what parts of Christianity that they like. I am an agnostic myself. My values have been shaped by Christian parents, so I know that's part of me but I am not religious.
  12. I follow Frommer on Twitter. He appears to know something about prospects, but I don't get the impression that he is any kind of insider.
  13. They could Escobar at 3B and Baez at 2B depending on whether expect McNeil to bounce back next year.
  14. Correa. If they can get Baez for 5-6 years, then it's a good question.
  15. I expect them to get one of the big five. I have my preferences, but I won't be disappointed in any of them. I WILL be disappointed if they don't get one of them.
  16. Masks are not fun when you wear glasses.
  17. I still hate masks and haven't gotten used to them at all. I use them when required.
  18. I know lots of women. Some are selfish. In general, they are less selfish than men.
  19. I agree that if Trump won, Democrats would have had similar concerns and there would have been lawsuits while the Republicans would have been just fine with it. The difference is Trump didn't just express concerns and file lawsuits. He flat out said that the election was stolen and pushed baseless conspiracy theories as supposed proof. His lack of respect for our country and democracy is unforgivable.
  20. I agree. Women tend to be a lot more selfless.
  21. I am not sure what you mean by that, but it appears there might be some agreement!
  22. There is indeed an inconsistency with so many of the pro-life people being pro-death penalty.
  23. If anyone has a good understanding of when a person becomes a person, it would be a woman.
  24. Of course they think that way, but how did it come to that point? It is obvious why people are disturbed when they see see little tiny humans with body parts taken out. How can you not be affected by that even if you are pro-choice? That is not most abortions though. What about much earlier when there is no appearance of life at all? What happens at conception which makes it a person?
  25. I think it's mostly terrible diets and lack of exercise than anything else. More recently, drug abuse has taken its toll. It's interesting that immigrants, including Hispanics, have a longer life expectancy than both White and Black Americans.
