  1. I think it still makes sense, but is less likely to happen. Last year, there was an obvious opening, but not so much this year. The Tigers appear very committed to building around prospects and I think the fact that the best one is very close changes things a bit. I agree that it shouldn't be hard to make everything fit if they decide to take the risk though.
  2. I've always been a big fan of Bregman, but I don't see them chasing him this year either with Torres back and McGonigle right around the corner.
  3. Bregman came up as shortstop, but was moved to third because the Astros had Correa. I doubt they would move him back there again as his primary, but it's possible he can still play there adequately if needed.
  4. "Website I've never heard of" is my favorite source.
  5. I don't think they will sign Bregman, but I suspect they already have a good idea of what they have in Bregman defensively.
  6. I really dislike the narrative that nobody can compete with the Dodgers. This year's World Series was arguably the most competivive World Series in history. It went seven games wiith one game going 18 innings and the 7th game also going into extra innings. During the regular season, four teams won more games than the Dodgers.
  7. Good post. When I was in Little League, they used to select players to coach the bases each inning. I hated that role because I was very shy and didn't want to shout at runners and the manager never gave us instructions on what we were supposed to do otherwise. I remember hoping that none of our runners would reach third base when I was out there for my inning which just added to the reasons I hated that role.
  8. They were one hit away from the ALCS this year. They are ready. Whether or not the right player is available or whether they have the financial resources to land that player are open questions.
  9. In what way? As someone who lives firmly in the East, I am sincerly curious why you classify them as Eastern so definitively if it's not just division you are talking about. I consider Montreal and Quebec to be east and Toronto to be east/central. I think of Toronto as geogrphically more similar to Detroit than Boston.
  10. Yes, they are in the East Division, so they do qualify as an Eastern team on that account. I was referring to your original post about East Coast Teams always winning.
  11. Well they are in the East division, so they qualify on that count.
  12. Until he makes a big move at some point, he is going to get criticized. If all he does is re-sign free agents and they miss the playoffs next year or even if they make the playoffs and don't go far, he is going to be roasted. Fans expect contenders to make bold moves during the off-season and/or at the deadline. Fair or not, that is the same thing with any fanbase. This is not unique to the Tigers or Harris.
  13. Baltimore is on the east coast. Toronto is not.
  14. East division, but this is the first time I've heard them refered to as east coast like Boston, New York, Philadelphia. Toronto has a large market which makes it easier for them to have a big budget. It's also a nice city, but I don't think players go there because it's on the east coast. I think Cease went there because they overpaid. I was hoping the Tigers would get him, but I suspect nobody else offered him 7 years.
  15. The real talent went to Toronto though.
  16. What about the other accusers? And I never said he committed a crime. I was disputing that this could happen to any of us. He goes around abusing strange women for fun... What could possibly go wrong? I don't feel bad for him.
  17. He goes around choking women for fun and one of them called him on it. Yeah, I guess that could happen to any of us. He can pitch again if anyone wants him, but he hasn't pitched in the Majors for 4 years and had a 4.51 ERA in Japan last year. Good luck with that.
  18. I will never forget Thanksgiving Day, 2025
  19. They are in hot pursuit of 31 year old relievers who want to be converted to starters and pitchers coming of injuries
  20. You had to see them play to really appreciate them. I'm glad somebody here did.
  21. Looks really excited about being there. I wouldn't have recognized Henneman if you hadn't mentioned it. Now, I see the chin.
  22. Michael King could end up being next year's Crochet if he's healthy. I don't know what to say about Helsley. If multiple teams are nterested in him stating, I guess you just to have some faith that there is somethng there. not very excited about him though.
  23. I doubt these costs would go down if salaries went down. Now that they know fans (at least the wealthy ones) are willing to pay those prices, they'll never lower them.
  24. I love his attitude. I always thought the desire to play with the best team that doesn't really need you was pretty shallow. It's more of a challenge and I would think more satisfyng to be an important part of team that's still building to be a great team. So, let's add him to the list of starting pitchers who we can dream about being the #2 guy behind Skubal.
